  4. Today I’ve shorten in the front and back panels. Makes the three layer Carbon looking neater. Dual power connectors on the back. Using the T2 power supply, too lazy to build a new one. Still more work to. But it works as it is and it sound all right.

  5. easy enough, if you don't want an ipad, an ipad is a terrible option.

  6. I know I'm probably in the minority but I'll offer a dissenting opinion. I got rid of my iPad back in November and haven't missed it. I prefer a laptop for surfing, email, etc. so I picked up a cheap 13" Air and it cover 95% of what I want it to. The only time I want a tablet is when I'm on a plane. I tried a surface pro and it's a fine device but for more of my use cases I am much more comfortable with a traditional laptop with a hinge that can support the screen without flopping around.

  8. Not an Apple product, but what about a Yoga that can work as a laptop with a supported screen, or as a tablet to split the difference?

  9. The only time I saw J&MC in concert, some band no one had heard of opened for them and blew them away. After the show, my buddy and I, along with about 6-7 other faces we recognized from the show, were all at Tower Records in Boston buying NiN's Pretty Hate Machine. Still love J&MC's music though.....

  11. Sam, If you want to give Win10 a cheap spin let me know. I've got a mostly-surplus Surface Pro 3 that I could part with cheaply. It's barely been used and comes from the HC family.

  14. The best options seem to be the Küat NV 2.0, with many bells/whistles. Friend got one and went on a cross country drive with his bike. Lots of guys here have the first gen. Another good option people like is the 1Up USA rack. They have 1/2 bike options with expandability if you need it later. I don't own either but have used both, and those are the ones I'd decide between myself. **BRENT** Sent from my ONEPLUS A3000 using Tapatalk

  15. Fwiw, I completely agree with you on Win 8 v 7. I genuinely like 7, liked XP (and 2000, and NT), and find 8 more or less unusable. I had to set up a Windows domain on a Server 2012 (the server version of Win8) and it was a truly terrible experience. I never did get used to it. I just got a new laptop with 10 on it, and I decided to give it a try before reverting it back to 7. My experience so far is that by toning it down and turning off some bells and whistles, it feels a lot like 7. Everything is comfortable thus far. I also set up a Surface Pro with 10 for my dad over Xmas, and I found the tablet stuff to be fine. But, this is coming from someone who has no real apple experience (last time I really used an apple was probably System 6), so I can't compare it.

  16. That's a good question, Brent. For most of my surfing I sit on a recliner with one of those laptop prop-up jobbies that keeps my legs from getting too hot. My headphone audio rig is to the right and I've got a side table to my left where my rum sits. Occasionally I'll stand at the kitchen counter or sit at the breakfast table with the Mac Air. You touched on one of my concerns...that the keyboard case may not be efficient / effective on the recliner. And, yes...this is HC. I feel the need to piss my money away on new tech I fear. Interestingly, the Mac Book Pro 13" is about the same weight as the Air. WTH is up with that??? The MacBook is 1lb lighter with a screen 1" smaller. Two boys to put through school and a car habit. I'm going to work forever...LMAO. HS

  17. Where do you have this sitting? Are you at a table desk, or is it on your lap? If it's on your lap, use a laptop, simple. The keyboard cases just don't work well enough in that use case, and it would be enough of a frustration that you would wish you would have gotten a newer MBA, or an Ultrabook, or just stuck with your current MBA, but this is HC, so you'd buy a new MBA. I figure you're too busy with your job to have time to read comic books, so I wouldn't worry about a new iPad unless you're just in a mood to spend $$$, then I'd get one of each. **BRENT**

  18. I've got an iPad and a laptop, each has fit different needs & uses very well. The only thing I want to try at some point is the Cisco VPN client my company uses, along with the App that allows Remote Desktop to Windows machines. That would save some space on the occasions I travel.....been too lazy recently to set them up though. But for so many things, iPad and keyboard is just fine and dandy.

  19. Yup, that was the reason I went, to see opening new band, Nine Inch Nails, whose album, Pretty Hate Machine my sister had given me a tape of. I was watching Trent abuse the shit out of his then guitarist, pre-Filter Richard Patrick. He seemed to be alright with it at the time, but what did I know. The other side of that tape was The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste, and I went on to see Ministry around that time, too. Another memorable concert, the tour that generated In Case You Didn't Feel Like Showing Up...Live. Me, now: White Willow, Future Hopes live stream, dadgum album doesn't get released until Friday, so even though I pre-ordered it, I don't get my copy until Friday. Wonderful, so far.

  20. I prefer buying Belden spc Teflon coated hook-up wire. It's roughly the same cost (but you have to buy 50 or 100ft lengths), and it is properly labeled and you can check the specs, whereas with the resellers and surplus sellers, it's difficult/impossible to verify. That said, I have only had good experiences with navships and bulkwire.com.

  22. Bike shopping with Xavier today. He fits a medium Kona. I'm getting old. More than we want to spend since he isn't a huge mountain biker, but it's high on the list. If you think the bike looks cool, you'll ride it, right? **BRENT**
