Generally people refer to me in all things whiskey around here. I'm kind of known for that. In this case however, I think my compadres have given some excellent suggestions, so nothing to add.2 points

Jameson = Irish whiskey, not scotch. If you want to stick with Irish, Redbreast 21 year is absolutely fantastic and right at $300. If single malt, Macallan almost always does the trick. Rare Cask or 18 year would probably suffice in your price range.2 points

My buddy turns 50 on Saturday and he really likes Irish whiskey. He usually drinks Jameson and doesn't spend exorbitant amounts per bottle. I'd like to get him something really special that's going to make an impression and that he's going to remember. I know Jameson makes some higher end bottles like 12/18 Limited Reserve and Rarest Reserve, but honestly, I just don't know. Do any of the Irish whiskey aficionados here have any experience or suggestions for me in the $200-$300 range, even if it's not Jameson.1 point

I've never seen a fake 7 pin package and it would be pretty costly to do. The fets are just relabeled BJT's which would probably make for excellent input devices anyway...1 point

Bought it back in '86. Fantastic album! I think my favorite track is "My Old Friend the Blues".1 point

So after setting up my scope to see if there was any oscillation, the distortion and high offset disappeared. Afterwards the distortion would show up after a few hours of it being on, and it's sometimes cured by just unplugging/replugging the headphones. Feels like I'm chasing after Schrodinger's distortion Whatever the case, I've put heatsinks on both the 3840s and LSK389s now.1 point

His family is disputing the report awaiting toxicology tests. He apparently was prescribed an anti-anxiety drug and commented to his wife that he had taken more than his normal dosage and apparently slurred his words the last time he talked to her. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

For something really special, Glenfarclas do a Family Casks range, from which you can buy a bottle from the age of your birth. http://glenfarclas.com/whisky/the-family-casks/ They are probably way outside your price range (mine too), but worth dropping them a mail and finding out.1 point

Gary, if your buddy likes Jameson them it would be cool to get him a really pricey single bottle like the great suggestion from Bryan, or else a few bottles of Irish ranging from $50 to $100 a bottle so he could try more of them. Redbreast 12 at $50 Redbreast 12 cask strength at $70 Green Spot at $70 Yellow Spot at $100 There's lots of other options but maybe that is a start. Mike Baker can certainly point you to the right shop...1 point

My preference is whatever whiskey is in my hand at that time. Single Malt would be Lagavulin or Springbank/Longrow. But your average person will likely not enjoy either.1 point

Was listening to the radio on the way back from an errand, there are some rumors around Chris' death ("band around neck" was a term I heard). But yes, way to fucking young, and a great talent lost. And in other news, R (not RIP) to Roger Ailes. A man who did big things, but to me his legacy is completely tarnished by the behavior and scandals he allowed and possibly participated in..... I don't often say good riddance for someone who died, but for him I'm damn close. Sorry if this offends (no I'm not....but it's just my personal opinion)1 point

I've replaced the J79 closest to the front panel now. Seems to have done the trick, offset is now normal on the right channel. No extra noise so far either. Thanks for the help Craig & JoaMat.1 point

Really fun little amp. I'm looking forward to getting to A/B it with an original Crack/Speedball. It is amazing how different it sounds from the SuSy Dynalo. If I had to pick one, it'd be the Dynalo, but I don't and won't. It is a fantastic change of pace amp and makes super relaxing pairing with the HD650s.1 point
