Made some ~22 hour sous vide ribs finished off under the broiler. Gonna try some different things next time, but these were really solid.7 points

Having a T1S sitting idle here I decided to have some fun with it. Drew up a small CCS board, a scrap heatsink and voila...an improved amp is born. Bias supply fixed, all caps replaced and output resistors fitted. I ran it a bit hotter than stock so I had to modify the tail resistor on the output cathodes down to 1.5K but that is easy.3 points

Gave a big speech at the rehearsal dinner for my sister's wedding last night. Boy, I have nothing but respect for you guys who have to get up in front of crowds all the time and speak. It is hard! Everyone said it went great, and I got a bunch of laughs, but despite all that it is hard not to feel like I could have done a better job. Maybe I'm just being to hard on myself. In any case, glad to have it behind me! Wedding tonight should be a blast.3 points

I got really tempted when the Focal Utopia and Elear price reduction was announced a week or so ago. I finally pulled the trigger and bought a pair of Elear after coming across the free headphone stand deal at headphones.com (their customer service is first rate so far by the way). Unfortunately my orders of headphone plugs and wire have not arrived so I am stuck with the 4m long, singe-ended Focal standard issue cable at the moment. My Dynalo is not cased yet so I had to make do with my DIYZONE Iris OTL headphone amp.2 points

While I do not want to downplay the severity of the storms here, they are reporting cat 0 tornadoes, which people in the Midwest view as excellent kite flying weather.2 points

CWC ride was great. I did the metric with a slight addition to the route: included Jack's Mountain to the route to make it more interesting. It's the peak dead center in the ride. This climb is deceptive as it has several ramps, 3 IIRC, so that when you think you are nearing the top, yikes, there is yet another hill ahead. Hah. To give prospective though, this climb is just a little peak in the century ride profile, just cat 4 climb. I was slow as molasses up the hills, ha ha. For a change from the past 3 years, weather was perfect, if just a bit windy up in Pennsylvania. Definitely glad I chose the metric instead of the 75, as the 75 had about additional 2000ft of climbing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro2 points

I have had a pair of HD650 and LCD 2 long before I started with the Stax electrostatics. It's too early for me to form opinions on the sound of the Elear. I can tell you that they feel solidly built and heavy, not as comfortable as the HD650 or the Stax 700/900. Just hooked them up with my Dynalo and I am reminded again how good the Dynalo is - it blows the doors off the Iris. The distance between the input tubes is roughly 41mm measured from center of the socket. The actual gaps between the tubes is just over 20mm.2 points

I checked in with Gene today and he and Becky are staying at home in Sarasota, but they have prepared and have hurricane glass windows, etc. He'll check in after Irma passes. From Facebook, it appears Vicki and Mike are both away from their homes and should be safe. Raffy lives inland so he should be a wet but safe little sherpa.2 points

Florida tornados are a different thing. Very small. Pop up out of nowhere, move very fast and blow some shit down. Not anywhere near as deadly, but scary because of crazy behavior.1 point

They are probably embarrassed. Well done though. Controlling your emotions is tough in a situation like that.1 point

Mid-compact front, 36, X 32cog, mid-cage rear derailleur. It is definitely overkill for this year's ride but a necessity, for me, for last year's 75m route ride. The Jack's mountain climb (the largest peak above) is the little peak at about 42.5 miles in this profile. I definitely was in no shape to do this ride this year. so much can go wrong when you are working on something 20+ years old. So many obsolete parts... The people that know what they are doing probably won't touch stuff they do not own, and people willing to modify your stuff probably are the people you don't want touching it.1 point

So, you can listen to good sound and toast your marshmallows at the same time....... win/win.1 point

Good that you got involved to help, Ozgur, but please be careful.....it sounds like the guy was decent enough not to beat up the woman despite the size difference, though, so that's a possible good sign... Hope it all ends up OK.....1 point

I love Oingo Boingo. Saw them twice in my life, the second time was great but there were a series of younger kids (Gen-X'ers types? Spoiled White suburban kids? Not sure) who decided to make a mosh pit and ruin some others' times with excessive behavior. Venue personnel had to come in multiple times to help calm things. Back in MY day of mosh pits, kids RESPECTED each other and picked them up after slamming them! Darn kids these days.....!1 point

We should be fine. We're at the mercy of Florida Flick and Flash, so there's the potential for extended inconvenience there. And the creek is as high as I have ever seen it, without storm surge or rain. That's a little troubling since we're about to get a foot of rain. Let's hope that it's the water management district managing as opposed to having a melt down. (The tide in our creek is controlled by a computer in West Palm Beach. They can raise it but not lower it.) But all in all, we're one heck of a lot better off than we could have been. I was monitoring Google Maps in case we had to flee. Here's a screen shot from last night. I-75 was nasty from Tampa All. The. Way. To Atlanta.0 points

So... Last night around 1-2 a.m my next door neighbours got into fight. It was extremely hard, she was screaming and throwing things against the wall. And as I heard later she hit him a lot, especially she slapped him hard over his ears. Then she went to the hall of building, screaming for help... I was naked but I quickly wear things and got out after them. The scene was extremely nerve pushing: she was sitting on the floor and he was trying to make her stand by pulling her. I was about to punch him to senses but she jumped between us. I got him to my house for seperating them and called the police. While I was calling the police, she was begging me for not to but he wanted me to call. Police never showed up btw. After some time I let him go. He is a body builder and she is as petite as one can be but as it appeared she kicked his ass off and smashed half of the house to the ground/walls. She is extremely neurotic. Boy seems a nice fella. I felt sorry for both of them and went to sleep. It became like a diary entry but anyway...0 points
