  2. The Police – Ghost in the Machine Wikipedia: " The cover art for Ghost in the Machine features a seven-segment display-inspired graphic that depicts the heads of the three band members, each with a distinctive hair style (from left to right, Andy Summers, Sting with spiky hair, and Stewart Copeland with a fringe); the band was unable to decide on a photograph to use for the cover. Wire bonds can be seen on the original issue vinyl album cover, suggesting perhaps that the display is a photographic collage. The album's cover is ranked at No. 45 in VH1's 50 Greatest Album Covers. The graphic was designed by Mick Haggerty." Me: Stares at album cover for a while – "Ok, that's kind of clever. And also brilliantly cheap. Why can't I have ideas like this?" and "What an incredible album. The haters can suck it."

  3. Quick Update: Fixed the issue. Not 100% sure what the issue was, tightened up all connections and changed out the XLR leads, and working fine now. Internal shot of the amp included if anyone is interested. Internal signal wiring is Teflon insulated silver (bought a bunch years ago at a surplus store). Custom PCB for the attenuator and 3D printed brackets for the switching and attenuator. Cheers

  6. So I rigged together the test circuit both Jose and Chris suggested that used a 12VDC supply and measured the whole batch of 2SK170BL and 2SJ74BL (12 each). The 2SK170BL IDSS measured between 7.7 - 11.2 mA, the 2SJ74BL measured between 7.0 - 11.0 mA but mostly between 8.0 - 11mA. Toshiba datasheet states 6 - 12mA for BL grade. The good news is that the relative measurements between samples are consistent with those from the ATMega 328 tester. I am pleasantly surprised that I should be able to find 4 pairs of K170 within 3% and 2 pairs of SJ74 within 1% and another 2 pairs within 5% of these random samples. Not great but OK. Unfortunately the match between P and N channel pairs are not nearly as good. Forgot to mention; if you are going to do this, make sure you do it in a constant ambient temperature environment and you sit a good 2 + feet from the sands being measured. For a while the measurements were jumping all over the place only to find out it was caused by my radiant body heat. Christ!

  7. Just bought a japanese hifi magazine issued back in 1995. It has the great omega+T2 combo on its cover with four pages of technical info of the t2. A nice collector's item under $20.

  8. Today through a newspaper supplement article I've learnt about Chloe, the 10 year old kid who has a rare disease that only suffer 12 people in the planet. There are millions of people suffering in the World, so why care, you may think. One of the reasons making this case worth our attention is that there's an investigation going on, they know what gene is causing the disease and they know they might be able to produce the missing substance causing the problem. They estimate that the whole process until a cure is produced would cost about 200,000€. The important part, as I see it, is that contributing to this investigation we're opening the door to finding cure to other diseases with similar etiologies. There are plenty of them. This is the website they set up to explain the case, it's in Spanish but they have a translation link. This is the Gofundme site. All donations go to Dr Carles Mantilla of the GTIP institute in Barcelona which works in association with the Carlos III Institute in Madrid. That our government isn't funding this is beyond my understanding capabilities, fortunately scientific findings are global. It's sad that in three months they had only made under 4000€, but thanks to the public exposure the newspaper provided, things are improving pretty fast.

  9. I've wanted a pair of Legacy Focus speakers since I first saw them in an audio magazine in about 1990. Yes, I read audio mags in high school. I was one of the cool kids, let me tell you.

  10. This is my life. I'm not entirely sure I would have it any other way. Neither cat really stays still enough for an in focus picture.

  11. Thats funny. I say Chicago but realistically I grew up in the suburbs, Palatine specifically in the neighborhood of Plum Grove Estates. So Algonquin Rd and Meacham Rd. Nice house at the end of a street on a bit of land, on the Salt Creek

  13. Same same. I even referenced Wild Kingdom once when I caught an arc of guys staring at CGAW's ass (or so it seemed). "Here, we see the female administratorus databasus in her natural element. She lures the males into believing her submissiveness with her diminutive form, but we all know who wields the power here. One of the males approaches, attempting to curry favour with a showing of his mastery of language...let's watch." RIP the real deal.

I just spent 20 minutes looking for my blower before giving up and going straight to the sensor swabs. I gave my IR 5D it's first proper cleaning in years. I was supposed to be out walking 90 minutes ago. SMH my head, as the kids say.

  15. 3D printed ”pad holder” today. The grey thing attached to the driver unit with six screws. SR-007 ear pad in place. Then take the package and push it into the frame – done. Found a piece of aluminum net and with some black paint it will serve as grill. Exposed cable connections. Have to fix that some time.

  17. Rolex situation in Las Vegas For SS sports I found. The 39mm OP all dial colors, just depends on the location. Almost all had red grape.. must not be a well liked variant. A yachmaster 1 with the Platinum bezel and blue dial. A yachmaster 2. An airking Zero TT subs, skydweller or gmt. One root beer sold gold gmt otherwise no gold gmt. Solid gold subs back in stock multiple locations. I think I got to all the locations, either way a large sample size. Many places cases were mostly empty. But hey if you want a mid size date just with gold and diamonds your all set.. I did at least get to play with something I thought I'd never see

  20. RIP Fred Hemke, classical saxophonist and former professor at Northwestern. I found out this past weekend he died on 4/17/19 at the age of 83. https://www.music.northwestern.edu/news/2019/frederick-hemke-1935-2019 This guy studied with Marcel Mule, who basically started the French school of classical saxophone. My teacher's teacher studied with Mule, and this guy was someone she looked up to for years (until he was a dick to her over the Dahl Concerto). Still, an incredibly important person in the community, and one that saddened me when I found out while I was, fittingly, in the middle of 1200+ musicians at a band festival in Canada with my daughter.
