  1. Attempted a new kind of social distancing, rode the new-to-me Cannodale flat out (for me anyway to the coast and back. Very happy with the effort. Early season Zwifting has paid off.
  2. Rolling with Tidal Hifi on the Macbook today fed thru the Ayre. Sounds pretty great. A stable setup will start being assembled today and hopefully get this party started right.

For Benchmade and pretty much every other manufacturer, stay away from M390 steel and its equivalents in 20CV and 204p. The heat treats are very inconsistent and in the vast majority of cases you just end up with a knife that costs twice as much and performs exactly the same as 154CM. The Benchmade 581 which I own and the Spyderco Paramilitary 2 are about the only production M390 knives that perform well, but even then there's enough variation in the heat treats that some of them are only holding their edges half as long as expected. I can't recommend buying one given the chances of getting a lemon. As for Benchmade in general, I have more of the knives than anything else since I like their design, but their value is kinda lacking. They're prettier and fit my hands better, but in terms of performance or build quality they're barely any better than the Kershaws and Spydercos I own which are about 2/3 the price at most. The only Benchmades I have which feel like premium products are the 750, 690, and 581.

Yea! An old co-worker finally solved the dreaded (at least for anyone with long fingers) Touch Bar. https://shauninman.com/archive/2020/04/12/bar_none

  12. Nice, Nate! I was less good: I smoked cigarettes on a friend's balcony. I only smoke during pandemics.
  13. Debbie made roast chicken with hassleback potatoes. Delicious. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Easter Brunch. Happy April 12th!
  15. I've gone the SOTM 200 Ultra route, essentially a linux audiophool small computer built to only do audio. I run a Roon server connected to a network switch. I did this primarily to get the convince of Roon with better SQ. The Roon server sounds good but is not nearly as good sounding as the SOTM. For me Roon was the way to go to leverage my Tidal and Qobuz subscriptions. I'd cancel Roon but I'm on a package deal with Mike and Raffy. It just opens up so much more music to me and the Roon engine is pretty sweet.
  16. Social distancing. My favorite kind of person to person interaction. Stay at least 1 mile away from me, preferably on the other side of a mountain. Found out just how shit my conditioning is right now too..
  17. Thanks. 1. 2019 MacBook Pro 15โ€ 2. LG 34CB99-W monitor attached to a 3. Wali vertical desk post and single-arm mount 4. Logitech Brio 5. Blue Microphones Yeticaster 6. Godox LEDP260C Bi-Color LED Panel attached to 3 via an 7. Impact Super Clamp + Manfrotto 143N Magic Arm 8. Various audio devices to play incoming audio in a fairly large number of possible permutations. No pop shield as I haven't noticed much popping in my recordings. On the outside handle of the closed door of course.
  18. Thanks Jim. Where do you hang the hat?
  19. I forgot to comment on how gorgeous Steve and Al's table and bench set and Doug's wooden version of mjolnir are. Excellent work gentlemen, your craftsmanship is exceptional. Me today: finished the last touches on my "Imus at Home" studio.
  20. Postponed morning bike ride due to snow. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ First time I can remember that we have had so many days that we can see snow on the mountains from the back yard. Summer may prove very interesting as we have an abundance of brush growth on the hills which if we have a dry hot summer will turn into fire fuel for October.
  21. Smoked chuck roast. Much better than I expected. And a great excuse to use plenty of horseradish cream sauce.
  22. Table updated. This GB is now officially closed. Submitted latest version Gerber files and corresponding final quantities to the fab house. Will update with ETA of manufactured boards when I receive confirmation.

  24. The only real Chicago style hot dogs I have been able to find in Florida are at Portillo's. The nearest one is a little over 100 miles away in Brandon FL so I make my own.
  25. Tijuana-style quesotacos!
  26. This is the least Head Case thing I have ever read.
