  2. Just to intrude with something useless, some of this talk reminded me of an old comic I had some years ago by B. Kliban.

  3. I made a thing taller. It took one BEI in Kreg screws to do it, and probably a better way to do it, but... - you know what they say, when you have a hammer everything looks like a nail. My record cubes will be just enough higher that I can plug my cleaner in behind them. (this is a view of the bottom) Depends what kind of tarp.

  4. I think I found a decent deal on a table saw in the little town next to mine. Do you guys think I could keep this outside if I cover it with tarps when not in use? https://www.wsimachinery.com/collections/sliding-table-saws-1/products/linvincibile-si-x

  5. upgraded my hackintosh to i9/9900k with tb3 That was something of a nightmare. And it's not entirely working. But it's more functional than it was before, just the thunderbolt stuff is weird.

  6. Aligned up my fence. Close enough for me. Put together a cross cut sled. Square to .00022 per inch.

  10. Which Rega do you have Marc? I have been looking at the current Planar 3. It looks like a pretty solid table.

  11. So I was driving back from Peter's tennis lesson and out of nowhere he says, "We should get a turntable". Well it was good thing he was driving as I would have likely driven off the road in shock. Not only did he want me to buy a turntable, but he actually called it a turntable and not a record player. After I recovered a bit, I asked him why we should buy one and his response was, "Vinyl is cool". So I feel I really have to buy a table so as not to stifle any potential budding audiophilia. My problem is I owned exactly one turntable my whole life, a Dual CS-721 bought in 1977 and given away (along with almost all of my vinyl) when we left Illinois in 2016. At that time I had not planned an analog return so I do not know what exists for a good quality, H-C approved table. Therefore, I am looking for any and all recommendations. I will hook it up through the NAD M-12 which has the ability use a turntable and has selectable MM or MC settings so all I need now is the turntable, although the slope is already feeling a bit slick.

  12. A slightly de-tuned version of that processor is what is in my 2019 iMac. Takes everything I've thrown at it without a sweat so far. Other than the CalDigit dock, I only use tb2 with a Blackmagic Multidock. I rarely do video work so I don't really need much speed (sata 3 is fine).

  13. In a very Blonde moment, I was trying to figure out where and how this joystick would mount to your Bianchi, and what it might control. The fantasies are endless.

  14. Hopefully they employ better stitching technique this time. While having coffee this morning a friend stopped by. I have slow camera fingers otherwise I could have caught him with his head poking out of the waves for a better picture.

  15. Smells Like Teen Spirit in a major key It's kind of weird, and gets even more when played at 1.25x or 1.5 speed.

  17. Got the re-tipped Zu DL-103 back yesterday. Today I mounted the cartridge, set the tracking force, aligned the cartridge and set azimuth and VTA. The custom belt is due on Tuesday, so I'll check the sound then. My last pieces of wood for the new stand shipped today. should be here soon. It's all coming together.

  18. Some jazz recorded the year that I was born, but released this year, right today: Available for download, CD ordering or free listening at Storyville Records in Bandcamp I've just learned that Dexter Gordon can sing rather acceptably.

  19. Another CFA is alive and well. Sorted out the issue with the bias when using the SS/ZF switch by doing the following (board rev 1.2): - Remove the 4 ZF jumpers near the 600pF - Increase R44/R49 to 50K - Increase R50/R51 to 4.2K - Remove C9/C10 Set at 190mA, plays beautifly in both modes. A must-have as reference in the amp collection. Thanks to KG for developing this amazing circuit!

  21. It's alive! Finished wiring today, only thing missing is drilling the front panel for the 4 pin XLR, waiting on a drill bit. Probably the best amplifier I had for the HD650. Absolutely dead silent, great sound! I'll need to make a better comparison with the dynalo mini, but at first glance it sure seems like a winner. Thanks for all the help I got during the build!

  22. I like the CFA2 so much I want to give it a separate PSU to move the transformer away from the amp circuit. The PSU chassis came in a few days ago. Still debating if to go dual-mono with 2 GRLV.

  23. Went to go pull out of the driveway this morning, and was greeted by a horrible sensation from my cars front end. One of the tires had gone flat and even unseated itself from the rim. I was overdue for new tires anyways, so I have an appointment tomorrow to get them taken care of. Fortunately the donut spare seems fine, so I can make it there without much hassle.
