  4. Who on HC isn't old enough to remember the madness of 1996? I went to college with a Spanish guy whose room shared a wall with mine. He was playing (one of the early remixes of) the Macarena in the fall of 95. I remember simultaneously hating it and getting the stupid chorus stuck in my head.

  5. RIP Isabella - what a nice doggy. She had a great life from the pics. But it sure is tough to say goodbye to an animal companion. The difficult kind thing to do. And RIP Nichelle Nichols. Alas boldly gone.

  9. Nothing against Mahler (rumor is he's okay), but Yacht Rock Tuesdays! At least until we're sick of Michael McDonald (which should have been a few decades ago). Hunting for tracks out there from the Yacht Rock-ettes, "The world's first, and only, female-fronted Yacht Rock cover band. Smooth AF." And I may have a new favorite website, Yacht or Nyacht? https://www.yachtornyacht.com Bad Brains' Sailin' On is a hard nyacht.

  10. About Mahler. I recommend this. Honestly, Mahler is not my favorite composer and I don´t like Rattle's style, but in this symphony... (although it´s not completely composed by Mahler), some times I feel the fear of death that torment to the composer. He knew he was dying. Honestly, the first time I listened to it, I got scared... Edit: It sounds a bit stupid, but I wouldn't know how to define the strange feeling it caused me.

  12. Last Friday's show is up: I'm quite pleased with how both the mix and the rant at the end came out. Also, the fact that I was able to record it this &%$# week.

  15. ^^ this. I normally put things on that people post to check it out (for a few seconds or a track), and if I like it, I put it in my queue for later listening. This one just stayed on. Thanks Jose.

  16. Not to break up the yacht club. Mahler: Symphony No. 4 Berliner Philharmoniker, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Christiane Karg 2021 https://album.link/t/192090136 No example, but you can check it out on your streaming service. You do have a streaming service, don't you? Don't You? I don't know this piece that well, but I really like it. Lovely melodies and flow. I will check out some classic performances of this as well. I have always had mixed feelings of Mahler's work; some are just too much of nothing, and others not enough.

  30. Went to the Pacific Coast Air Museum with the Brits. Felt the need for speed. But I ain't no fortunate son. Heard some interesting tales from the docent present about how they acquired the various airframes, which are a fairly representative sample of American fighters in the Jet Age. The one with the most interesting story is AF77-102 The "First Responder" lead F-15 to arrive over NYC on 9/11. Interesting history.

They were well received. Choco Taco, We Salute You! You will be missed.

  37. I did sous vide picanha for the first time today. A simple rub of spices, smoked salt and olive oil, then cooked in the bath at 133F for 6 hours. The 'grill' part comes from very briefly finishing on the pellet grill, just one minutes a side, with the flame box open and the temp at the absolute highest I could get it, about 700F! Served with fresh chimichurri, I was in meat heaven.
