Back in the day, I went on business to Israel for a week one January. It was anomalously warm, short sleeve shirt warm. I then travelled to Finland with a change of planes at Frankfurt, where it was snowing. Landed at Helsinki and it was -40C (the only temperature that it the same in C and F). I saw locals at the airport taking fearsome looking thermal clothing out of lockers and though Oho I'm in trouble here. It is nose freezing up inside when you breath cold. My clothing was inadequate for the ridiculously cold temperature. Eventually got to the hotel in a taxi with thick ice inside the windows, and our local marketer took me to the sauna there. So in a single day, I'd gone from +22C to -40C then to +100C.4 points

i haven’t shared any coffee rec’s in a minute so here’s one of you are looking to splurge. the shipping is super pricey but international delivery was within three days after roast which is pretty incredible. Manhattan in the Netherlands is ridiculously good. Luna and Letty are from Finca El Paraiso which is a Colombian farm i know very well via Hatch in Canada. Janson is a Panamanian farm that i’ve been meaning to try for a while but kind of hard to find. Luna is just as i remembered with exceptional bright acidity and lots of interesting herbals. Letty may be one of the 2-3 best coffees i have ever had. the peach and mango notes are so pure and outrageous. Janson has been very challenging. extremely dense and slow drawdown regardless of brewer or grind variation. i ended up putting it through long steep aeropress which seems to have done the trick and pull up a bit more richness from what has been extremely delicate profile. i would pretty comfortably put a few other farms from Panama above Janson based on this bag (Savage / Fincah Deborah in particular).3 points

Just look at the back of the Korea amp, it's almost identical to the stax t8000, even including the line4 input that never came out on the market , that's hilarious 😅 Is this just a change of box for t8000 ,or is it some kind of modification for the t8000 (e.g. load resistor changed to CCS load) with a new box?2 points

Electronc tag ( aka "ankle bracelet" ) "Some prisoners can be released early. This allows them to live at home and to work during the final weeks of their sentence. feel like the Duo’s motor needs to be beefier for flats but otherwise seems good. variable rpm is less an issue with niche running lower rpm to begin with. i’d probably be same boat, Jacob. Duo is a nice balance of entry in larger flats with the good workflow and a brand i would trust more than turin (DF83) or timemore (sculptor 78S). this Zerno Z1 seems pretty great but super new brand, model, and not immediately available. https://zerno.co1 point

the idea is to make the environment for the stupidly expensive tubes as friendly as possible. there are rumors of 300b in one or more amplifier companies with an average tube life of 8 months. For something that should be 10,000 hour tubes. my circuit limits the start current to 1.5 amps for 30 seconds.1 point

Kevin gave me a design with 6C33 many years ago (arround 2017). I use it constantly and in fact, it's my favorite amp. I have changed the preamp tube many times out of curiosity but never the 6C33... and that stuff already accumulates enough hours of use.1 point

Things I have found while moving: An unopened case of Life & Limb An unopened case of Sam Adams Winter Classics from a decade ago Several various bottles of Bourbon County when they were way less than $25/bottle...including a 3 bottle vertical A JL Audio W7 in its ProWedge enclosure that I think I got from someone here (sorry, I forget from whom -- Jeff? Chris?) Several Pioneer SX-era receivers Several guitar amp stands (you really only need one or two if you're a shoegazer or serious cork-sniffer) Actual marbles (the lead/crystal/glass/whatever ones from the 70's) Too many watches (Invicta, Android, one Ocean7) A pair of Focal speakers A SVSound subwoofer An ancient pair of Mackie HR824 when Mackie was good An HD-DVD player (does it matter what brand?) Three Oppos The purple turntable from Turntable Lab and a record cleaning machine (I never forgot the turntable, but I did indeed forget that I got a record cleaning machine as well) Things I have not found: my proverbial marbles1 point

^Golden Gate Park? Went for a stroll around King Mountain with Joanne and some of the ladies from her book club. Weather was nice, after all the rain, as were the views. And the wildlife. Played "guess the price" with them on the following properties. When a $5M miss is "close enough" http://www.kingmountainestate.com/ https://www.70ridgecrest.com/ I even managed to find the property video from 8 years ago when it was "only" a $2.2M tear down.1 point

Why do I have a sneaking feeling this is a direct copy of the T8000. All the controls are the same, same inputs too with the option slot as well... Yeah not good at all.1 point
