  1. Congratulations. Very cool. I did some spare time work doing frequency and phase correction to headphones. I could turn your Hd800 into anything you wanted. I developed my own math. It was geeky fun.

  2. Yeah, it's one of the local startups. As the new marketing project manager it is my duty to show you what we have done so far. I tried the method on my LS50ies - and managed to get some extra low end and got rid of the midbass hump. But damn, I was bugging these guys for an interview for like half a year and then out of the blue they offer me this position. Felt good.

  3. Left my job at the news agency. Started working for a company that develops calibration software for studio monitors. Super excited!

  7. I forgot about this thread at the time, but I probably ate somewhere around 2kg of cheese while in Montreal and Quebec City. The below is representative of the spread 3 people killed most nights. I recall 14 Arpents and La Sauvigine being amazing, as well as many, many others.

  9. I just got yelled at for about 15 minutes by a woman from Digicel (Jamaican-based phone company) for not being able to accommodate her 11th hour request for a 3-6pm Santa event on a freaking Saturday (December 13th). This, after she cancelled a booking that they had previously made for the prior Saturday from 12-2pm with nothing more than a "Sorry, but we're not doing a Santa event this year" email. (As in, fuck you, we're not really sorry, we're just canceling.) So now it's my fucking job to be able to read her mind 10 months in advance and reserve one of the most prime spots on my entire calendar, which was actually booked on February 12th for $400 per hour. She actually wants me to call that company and cancel their event and rebook it for her company for $175 per hour because that's what is in her budget and what she considers to be "a fair price." I was patient with her and offered every conceivable solution that I could in terms of my availability (mostly evening hours during the week at this point). But no, she wants me for her event at her rate, and expects me to fuck myself with my other clients. I'd actually have to cancel that event and shift around another event to do as she's demanded (not requested). All of this because, apparently (in her view), I should allow them to pick their date and time (and rate) because they rudely cancelled on me about 2 weeks ago with no indication whatsoever that they might be considering hosting another event at a different location, date, and time. She kept saying, "But we already made a reservation!" as if it represents a coupon of some sort that then allows them to order me around any which way they choose to. What an idiot. Plus, they made me give away those shitty little miniature candy canes last year because they were too cheap to do anything better. In the meantime, I've rebooked my time for their cancelled event on the 6th, so she's not getting that time either!

  10. ^ Thanks. This and a Manhattan may help relax after a very long day. Favorite quote so far (50 min in): "That's the great thing about curling - you see something new every day."

  14. They are an awesome trio. Anthony's crazy facial expressions and her bouncing around like a teeny bopper are such a contrast while they both play the shit out of their instruments. Great stuff.

  15. Hiromi -- my first time seeing her, she was fantastic. Anthony Jackson and Steve Smith (Vital Information) in support, and they were both fantastic. No earplugs -- perfect volume. The performances were on, there was absolutely nothing to complain about...well...as much as I love synthesizers, I actually thought the one piece with the Nord was a little out of place, which is funny because I loved it in the Sonicbloom context. I think they basically played the new album and that's it. Opened with Warrior and Player, spoke (she so cute! That little girl voice comes out of her, and she's such an energetic player...), then went into Dreamer...couple tracks I didn't know, Firefly and Alive, and one more I didn't know. Good crowd, too -- very enthusiastic, yet polite. (They went quiet almost synchronously.) Great, joyous fun. I need more like this in my life. Don't know what that monstrosity Anthony Jackson was playing (6 string bass, electric, but obviously hollowbody, single cut out all the way at the top fret).

  16. Andrew can already work the on/off functions on the harmony. Lily can do pretty much anything with it.

  18. Basement = good light control = projector. There's no substitute for screen size and if it's going to need to double as a kids' playroom it's very nice to have the expensive kit safely suspended from the ceiling!
