  1. OK boys steady yourselves.... Oh Yeah! It’s my new toy, I haven't got my grubby hands on it yet, it’s making it’s way from Portugal.

  2. I've thought a lot, today. My wife is genderqueer (she is very open so I don't feel uncomfortable mentioning that) and much more plugged in to things than I am, me at the grand ol' age of 37. She told me the other day that she considers me to be part of the queer community. Some of my friends here, I don't really remember which beyond Shell and Steve, have known for years that I have been, and am, sexually attracted to men. Not every man. Some men. I think I've mentioned it on occasion. I've never acted on it, for a lot of reasons. I'm generally more attracted to women, and I just think that I wasn't part of the right generation to act on a bisexual tendency in a casual way. I don't know if my time has passed, or what. I know that Colie would support me exploring that aspect of my personality, but honestly I don't really feel that strong of an urge. I'm very happily married, and, even when accepted, I would consider that to be cheating, and I'm not real big on infidelity. It's still there, though. I think it has informed other parts of my life, parts that I have acted on in non-sexual ways. I'm not sure I feel comfortable claiming that I'm part of the queer community. I "pass." That's not even the right word. How can you "pass" when nobody even thinks that you aren't whatever you are "passing" for? I'm certainly a fellow traveler, but that's not the same thing. I really don't care what I'm called or considered. I don't really consider this a coming out. It would be a shitty one, if it were. I also know that this is in a public forum, so don't worry that I've put this in the wrong place. I just kinda feel like I should do something, just for myself. Talking openly feels like doing something for myself.

  3. I’d sooner buy choudofu from a street vendor than electronic parts from Taobao or Alibaba.

  7. Buying from Chinese needs some more knowledge to know if the parts are genuine. I've bought from Taobao of 50 10M90S. Looked fine but turned out all fake. If you know which vender to buy from, of course you can save a lot of money.

  8. I do not believe Chinese vendors, and did you test these parts before stuffing it Bui ? Anything from Mousee is better. I understand getting parts from the states would be harder than from China for Thailand , but I do not trust Chinese vendors

  9. They are more like modern reissues, not in the same league as vintage WE300Bs. I bought a MP for $900 back in the 1990s when they first started remaking them. Several friends in The Oregon Triode Society were using 1940s-60s manufactured WE300Bs and the new ones were not comparable in side by side listening tests. Some folks attributed the SQ difference to the new tubes having a higher vacuum, but IDK. I ended up with some Chinese TJ Meshplates that sounded better in my amp and sold the WE300Bs. There is a lot better selection of 300B type tubes these days, better sounding than the new WE300Bs and at a much cheaper cost.

  11. I got today the Perun headphone and now i let it "run in" some hours. The looks is great, this is truly the electrostatic Grado very lightweight and comfortable. So far it's sounding very promising ,quite neutral with old Stax Omega 1 "touch" on it with similar soundstaging and imaging maybe with cleaner midrange. It's quite neutral and "naturally" detailed where i consider 009 to be neutral but unnaturally detailed.Perun has a very quite background and somebody may think it's dark sounding but it's not .I think Spritzer would like this phone:) a bit of old school Stax sound. First hour of listening says that we are dealing here with a world class sounding headphone for 1K :).The transaction from Russia to EU was smooth with great communication and zero problems . Update today:the midrange is likely the best i have heard from any stat before,it's huge, very musical, voices like female vocals are stunning, the sound is BIG / transparent but it isn't euphonic it remains still neutral and balanced. It has warmish tonality quite different overall than any Stax maybe towards HE-90 but it has it's own sound wich is very compelling. Was fiddling with the drivers and headband i don't know which way i should have to use them but tested vice versa and ended to find out that it has significant impact in sound quality how to use them. The sensitivity is close to Lambda models with means these are easy to drive. The structure is very comfortable / soft and very lightweight so you can spend many hours with them.Bass is on the level of better Lambdas and highs are smooth and detailed.Best sound level to drive these headphones are lower volume to average, i would not drive these phones on high levels ,these are best with classical/vocals ambient ECM jazz recordings.

  12. Just finished Altered Carbon. Loved it! It did have a couple of episodes that were pretty schizoid but IMHO confusing the reader/viewer is part of the genre (there always seems to be an undercurrent of distain for the casual viewer/reader but that is part of the "punk" part of cyberpunk). I'd like to go back and really look at the visuals and listen to the sound now. But you know how that goes!

  15. Has anyone tried the new filtered ear plugs from JH? I think I need to replace the Ety plugs and Earasers for music and motorcycle riding as I can not really hear a difference between having them in and out. My custom shooting plugs are super uncomfortable so I am thinking heavily attenuated JH plugs with lesser filters would be a nice pick up.

  17. Yes, I saw that cover on Qobuz too and sampled a few tunes out of curiosity, but it's not the same type of music. I'm now listening to the new Laurie Anderson & Kronos Quartet "Landfall" which is freely available at the NPR's First Listen section.

  20. Must be double digit losses. I'd text JP and ask which JH you might want because he has made relatively recent comparisons. I'm supposed to be receiving the Turkish Delight customs arranged through Özgür. I can tell you how they sound compared to original jh13s...
