Well, that ended up being a lot less painful than I thought. I started the day thinking I was going to buy memory foam but I ended up hating them. I bought the Natural Mattress Stretch recommended. The latex just felt right immediately compared to the 7-8 different brands/types I tried. It was towards the reasonable end of what I had budgeted for too so that didn’t hurt either. Shout out to the tall man. I would never have heard of the company/brand if you hadn’t brought it up in this thread. I also decided to make the switch from queen to cal king. I’ve had a queen since I first started grad school 13 years ago and while that size is fine the extra foot of width in the Cal King will have plenty of space for a future Mrs. TMoney.4 points

I (politely) pestered the mods are /r/reddisessions and they said that the message I got was in fact a generic one. The reason they cancelled my stream was that I didn't have the equipment I was using on camera. I experimented for an hour trying to figure out where I could position my iPhone so that the DJ mixer was in frame where I wanted it. My conclusion is that the FoV of the iPhone's camera is such that the only possibly mounting position is ...right in the fucking way. So now I'm shopping for a webcam JeffyBozos.com. For some reason or other, all the decent webcams (Logitech mostly) are out of stock and offered by 3rd party retailers at 3-4x their original price. I can't for the life of me figure out why everyone needs a webcam right now. I've been looking at various Chinesium models on AMZN, armed with the FakeSpot Chrome plugin. Ho Lee Shit are there a lot of farmed reviews out there. All of this said, I've found what I think are a few acceptable models and a mounting arm so I can position the camera above my mixer. I also spent (an even longer amount of time) getting some slow moving blinkenlights pointed at the mixer so it's at least visually interesting. It turns out I have a nearly 20 year background in that field. Who knew? I'm going to order the various bits and widgets this evening and try another broadcast on Reddit when it all arrives.2 points

And if they did, and not all were consumed, we'd have an Armadillo population explosion, in places Armadillos aren't supposed to be.2 points

I have attempted faxing, but the grease clogs the machine every time. With the state of the USPS I don't think they'd do well cross country either. Sorry man.2 points

Yeah. Such a personal taste thing but the latex just felt like the correct choice for me right away.1 point

My weight is responsible for a great many things. We also have different models, I believe (mattresses, not partners).1 point

I am pretty skinny, so it might be your weight as well. Ours is on the weird robotic frame so maybe it has broken down but it is not noticeable with the mattress all contorted.1 point

My Aireloom has not changed much at all in over a year. Still super comfortable and the pillows are top notch as well.1 point

Bumping this thread. I'm going out mattress shopping today and found it very useful for ideas of stuff to try out. Thanks everyone. I've slept like crap for a month so I'm hoping a new mattress is part of the solution. Brands I'm looking to try today: Natural Mattress, Duxiana, Aireloom, King Koil, Tempur Pedic, Intellibed. Thankfully almost all of them have showrooms/retailers close to me in San Rafael.1 point

Your headphone cable looks familiar! Did you get it from Blue Jeans? I've gotten MSA-1 headphone cables from them for all of my Focals.1 point

Same here, even though my gear has those 12 Vt. trigger inputs. I really should get some of those trigger cables. But I miss the "foreplay" to playing music. I'd happily clean my album, then use my anti static gun and so on, before the main event. It made playing music more of an event. I think I even listened better back then.1 point

I apologize beforehand if I should have started a new thread, but I figured folks with a Koss ESP950 or Koss ESP95X like me might be curious about the earlier Koss models. If you try this, besides the risk of electrocution, Spritzer has stated before that these weren't designed for pro bias - so I may be slowly killing these Koss ESP6. When I first bought my Koss ESP95X, my desk and work area were better set up for closed headphones, though I loved the clarity and speed of stats. So I became curious if not obsessed with the earlier closed Koss stats. I bid on, but ultimately decided not to buy several versions of the ESP9. During the lockdown I decided I needed a new and more ambitious nerd project. So I bought a Koss ESP6 and decided to wire them to the male end of my Koss ESP extension cable. I ripped out most of the internals first, but left them closed with minimal damping. Sadly, being closed, they lost most of the stat character. Like they sounded originally through the standard headphone jack out of my amp - they still sounded congested and echoey. I had read on another forum about someone that wired their Koss ESP9 for the Koss E90 amp, but they left the PCB. I decided to go one step further, and leave the drivers nearly completely exposed. The first attempt at making them open was disappointing. The two layers of felt over the drivers, and the plastic grills on the pad side were the culprit - when I removed them I was shocked at how good they sounded. Now that I know they sound good I'm going to make or buy a better cable as opposed to my jerry-rigged mess, and create a nice grill. Overall the mids and treble sound clearer than my Koss ESP95X though the sound stage is more intimate. I have not tried them directly back to back, but I will eventually. I suspect a lot of people may be put off by the agressive treble. Sadly, they're still bass light even with my Stax SRM717 but I've been listening to them with a 3 decibel boost under 100Hz, and they sound fantastic to me. I believe the Koss ESP6 were originally wired single ended. The black and yellow cables are connected to each stator. But is it possible I've inadvertently connected one side to ground and am damaging my amp? I'd appreciate any feedback on that.1 point

Especially if you had one before I understand really liking the 300m. The friend with that aquaterra also has the new black dial SS 300m. He likes it a lot and switches between strap and bracelet. In fact he has an original bond 300m that he bought back in the day. Still in very good condition considering it was his only watch until I became a very bad influence on him in ~2013. He's bought about 10 omegas since then lol!1 point

The only way that would ever have been in doubt is if there was a mattress company called Matte Black?1 point

This is what we have and it's the best I've ever slept on. Think it's one of the sprung models. They have a store on the Peninsula if you want to try out. https://www.thenaturalmattressstore.com1 point

Let's bump this thread again (thanks Shelly). After 18 years on a McRoskey, we're looking for a new mattress. We've tried The Natural Mattress Store's latex and hybrids, Nest Beddings various offerings, many of Tempur-Pedic's 20 models, Kluft's Cashmere/Mohair/Alpaca/gold leaf craziness, a few of the S's (Serta/Sterns/Sealy/Simmons), and we're running out of steam. It does seem we're most comfortable with a traditional mattress, though with the amount of layers and hybrid technologies in most of these I'm not sure the strict division still exists. We're starting to lean back to McRoskey (new wool model) or possibly Aireloom (Kluft without as much $parkle), though open to new suggestions if anyone has any (thanks most recently Doug - Hastens looks very interesting and there’s a showroom nearby, though I see we’re above DUXIANA in outlay)? I'm not sure who decided Memorial Day was best honored with mattress sales, but there's that now, however mattresses are the one thing I don't like to skimp on. Any thoughts?1 point

I am completely in love with my new 4 layer latex (Dunlop xfirm, Dunlop firm, Dunlop firm, Talalay med) mattress from Foam Sweet Foam. For some reason, the 4 layers is so more comfortable than the 3 layer version I have now in the guest room (which was great to begin with). Both beds are much more comfortable than the Casper guest bed I have in my opinion.1 point

Oof. Got removed by a mod 28 minutes in. One of the users in chat said I had to have the camera pointed on me or the DJ gear. The removal notice I got was generic "This post is off topic and does not pertain to /r/redditsessions. /r/redditsessions is specifically for music broadcasts only."0 points
