  1. Yup, sure can. I don't speak for anyone other than myself when I say I could not care less about your personal headphone journey. This website does not exist to make you feel good. Members here are free to respond (or not, as is the case here) to your review. You bumping your own thread looking for gratification is not something that I'm forced to tolerate as a moderator here. So either take my friend Todd's advice above and realize that you've basically been treated with kid gloves so far or don't and you'll find you no longer have to worry about it. Last piece of advice - imagine you j

  2. Cutting has definitely been an uphill battle with a diode laser in my experience. I have not been paying attention to what rig you are running so I may be in a totally different court. Also Lightburn was worth every penny for laser work. $40 is nothing compared to some of the other CAD/CAM programs out there. Those cutouts look heckin dope! ....if you wouldn't mind sharing the vectors..... I've been doing Arrow of Light plaques for the local cub scout troop. I won't share the finished project because I feel weird sending out names of children but the arrow was cut out with the router

  3. I've been screwing around with the laser lately, mostly trying to figure out how to get the damn thing to cut and engrave. I'd had the engraving part sorted for a while and finally had a break though today with cutting. For the inaugural project I decided to do something that popped into my head while listening to RTJ the other day. It'll end up being a thank-you gift for the friend that introduced them to me back in the spring. Each of those is about 2-1/2" long and the source file was custom designed by me in CAD based off of the cover of RTJ4. It's mirrored 🤦‍♂️ because the alb

  6. Relax and chill..... It's usually best to browse a forum when you join, to get a good feel for things. We are WAY more than a headphone site, indeed to the point above that we're NOT really a headphone site at this point. This is an eclectic group of great people that have many interests and personalities. We don't need lessons in forum and hobby lifecycles, coming in here and preaching that will not endear you, especially with the passive-aggressive "You can do whatever you want though" conclusion. If you truly want to find out about headphones, there are other sites that wil

  7. Can't agree more Steve. I chased accuracy and a flat response for many years, only to get very close and realize that I did not enjoy the system much at all. Flavor is just fine if it's the right flavor.

  8. This guy has the same era/model Aries that I have. From this picture at least, he's done the same thing I have and discarded the extra pulley weight/flywheel on the motor and the record weight/clamp. I find the sound is more open and lively without a clamp. It's possible that the frequency graphs are a little flatter (fewer high mid spikes?) but my main speaker system is for pure pleasure and accuracy be damned. Plus, my Home Studio rig is the one that needs to be flat.

  9. I thought my comment was pretty benign, Gene. This isn't really a headphone forum. Most members have been here more than a decade, date back to the earliest days of Headwize, and are friends in real life, despite the thousands of miles, oceans, continents and everything else in between. Are we occasionally rude? Yes. Were we particularly rude here? No. If you'd read around a bit even just in this forum you'd have seen that the top 10 threads are so are either Stax related or about boutique niche headphones. So no, you posting a review of your new AKG K240s was unlikely to generate any sort of

  15. I built my KSA-5 clone back in 2013 (see my post dated August 9, 2013 in this thread on page 8) but was never quite satisfied with it. I made every effort to make it look good and perform well, and it was well within the original KSA-5's specs. Yet, although it worked well with my 32ohm Grado headphones, it could not compete, in my subjective opinion, with Musical Fidelity's X-CANv8. Connected to a pair of 8ohm speakers, the clone would become rather confused with anything but simplest music. Because of this, the amplifier fell into disuse and was gathering dust on my rack. Until this wee

  21. Hi Timb5881, I find that these headphones care more about your source material than they do the genre at hand. Meaning, I've heard many genres through these venerable masters, and all they do is reveal. Bad recording/source file/master etc, bad performance. But great mixes/masters are amazing reproduced on my SR-Sigma's. I can't speak for the others on this forum, as some have modded to the 404 drivers and have even better sound (which I can't even fathom right now because I love these already as is). Revealing as they are, I tend to use these only on masters I know are
