  1. Brian Eno - Here Come The Warm Jets
  2. Looks very nice, but still not sure I'd get it. One of the main reasons for me to go for the Oppo would be the Anchor Bay video tech for best upsampling of SD DVD....sounds like the cheaper Denon may not have it.....
  3. Metal legend Ronnie James Dio dead at 67 | Top AP Stories | Chron.com - Houston Chronicle Not a real big metal fan, but liked what he did with Rainbow and his couple Black Sabbath stints.....
  4. And there go the Bruins................ Do have to hand it to Philly, they never gave up. Will try and enjoy the rest of the games, and wait for the draft. GO.....????? (I'm thinking I'd like Chicago to take it all, before they have to dismantle some of the team after this season).
  5. Did Spearit in Boston go away, get bought by Audio Concepts, or move? I've only been to Spearit in Northampton once, but the folks there were REAL nice. I've had and liked the YBA Alpha DT integrated, nice build and sound. I have to say, though, I haven't been quite as impressed with their less expensive lines.....either this line (heard the 201 integrated and CD player) or the Audio Refinement..... And hope you get well soon!
  6. Wow, GREAT game by the Habs, many congrats! I think I ended up watching more of that game than the Bruins game.... I think they're in the Stanley Cup series; honestly believe they can beat either of Boston or Philly the way they're playing..... If it goes there, and looks like it will, Bruins should get some AHL players to Boston for game 7. Raise the energy level, and certainly the talent level the way these guys are playing! Ugh.....
  7. Dang, I'm hoping the Bruins can survive the ECSF's, and not blow a 3-0 game lead. Philly's looking great the last couple games, and the Bruins got nailed hard with the David Krejci loss. Hoping they get back to form tonight. In another (all-hockey) forum, many of the posters use "theme" avatars. The Bruins' theme for this season? "Get Some Nuts" They finally did it at the end of the season and into the playoffs. Now is not the time to self-castrate!
  8. Best laugh of the day.... Thanks! Vicki, I felt the same way as you for MANY a year now....either the Bruins knocked out early, or not even in. So I left out the writhing agony of a hometown team defeat (after a point) and enjoyed the game for what it is.
  9. Yes, the games have certainly been entertaining, even if the desired teams for some here aren't winning. This has really been an amazing year for playoff hockey..... Assuming the Bruins can get past the Flyers, I don't really love their chances agianst either the Habs or Pens. Without David Kejci, they just lost yet another piece of struggling offence to injury. Some other players have stepped up (Satan and Recchi have been amazing for "older guys"), but don't think it would be enough against teams like that. But I can certainly hope, would love to be proven wrong again; and will certainly watch! The West will be amazing to watch as well. Don't know who I'd root for there....maybe the Sharks just because they finally seemed to have gotten the playoff curse monkey off their back.
  10. Bruins score with about 30 seconds left to tie Philly! GREAT game so far on both sides, with Philly getting the better chances overall. Bring on the OT, and Go B's !
  11. The Flyers were in desperartion mode. At first glance, they carried a lot of the play. But a lot of their shots on were not really hard for Rask to save, and the D cleared out many a rebound if he gave it up. It was tough, though, as the Flyers crowded Rask more this game, and several juicy rebounds were deposited in front. But the Bruins did a nice job getting them out. Third period was a lesson in shutdown hockey. Had the Flyers fans leaving with about 3 1/2 minutes left......
  12. Wow.....that Rosa is indeed loverly! Hmmmmmm......you have a PM coming......
  13. Yes, indeed! I have to say, the Flyers outplayed them for a fair bit of the game, and Rask and the defense were excellent. And hats off to them (the Flyers), it was a pretty clean game. I was expecting a lot of cheap trashy play from Carcillo, and he surprised me. If anything, I thought he played with LESS intensity than he should have. But no complaints...... He's a guy you love to hate, UNLESS he's on your team....
  14. Looking forward to tonight's Boston/Philly game....should be pretty intense..... Hope the Habs win the next one (and beyond!)
  15. My in-laws are in Bergen County for ~1/2 the year (Glen Rock, NJ), they use Optonline. No better or worse than Comcast most places I've seen/heard of it. Population density is indeed a valid question, but cable has been getting better in overall response time IMO, despite highly populated nodes. I recently found out we have potentially thousands of people on our major node, and I have no real complaints day to day.... If you do a good amount of streaming video, I'd consider FIOS, but otherwise the deal for OOL seems pretty good.
  16. Fixed this for.....me I'm loving that Marc Savard got the game-winner. Only wish it was against Pittsburgh. But seeing the way they played Montreal, I think we would have gotten our butts kicked almost as hard.
  17. Went to a Bar-Mitzvah today. Saw this kid do so well, give a speech relating his Torah reading to a modern "model" of donating time to help others, and discuss how he's done things like this for four years. Made me think there's hope for this world.... The post-service party was at the MIT Club in Cambridge, MA. Overlooked the Charles River and the Boston skyline. Nice place, nice weather, nice time. Parking was the only b*tch of the day.
  18. I'd like to think San Jose beat their demons by getting past round 1, but not too sure. If the Red Wings play like they did in game 7, SJ is in for some tough road. I also think Vancouver and Chicago will be a great series to watch, some real excitement there. I think Vancouver will squeak by, with goaltending being the difference. As for the East, I'm hoping the Bruins take the Flyers in fewer than 7. Flyers are a gritty, strong team, but injuries may be taking their toll. Carter and Lapierre likely out most or all series. But the Bruins have gone to sleep before, so we'll see. Should be a chippy series, maybe even more so than Buffalo; they always play each other tough. And sorry to the other Todd, but I would love to see Montreal take Pittsburgh. Would love it if Habs and Bruins met again, but for the East final..... "Everybody's on their feet, yelling 'Kill! Kill! Kill!' .....THIS....IS.....HOCKEY....!" -- Jim Carr, Slapshot EDIT: does Boudreau (sp?) survive in Washington next year?
  19. I'll chime in with some nearfield experience too. Material behind the speakers didn't make so much difference, but behind me - a tapestry hung on the wall - did make a difference. I think some high frequencies were bouncing off and back to me. Things smoothed out, and - though I may have imagined it - soundstage snapped into slightly better focus. I was about 6-7 ft from speakers (midfield?), they were about the same distance apart.3-4 feet each from side walls. My all-time favorite experience with room treatment, though, was when Michael Greene came to Ensemble in NH. They had some Ariel Acoustics speakers there, the B&W 801-looking models (10T I think). Never sounded as good to me..... Well, they set it up with Rowland elctronics, and Michael came and did his thing. He said he was about 40% of where he'd like to be when we went in a few at a time and listened. HUGE difference! EVERYTHING - tone, space, imaging, detail, bass depth and impact - was improved. I ended up with a Roomtunes Small Pack as I think they were called. Made a noticable differnce when I had more room in my room. Now, it's completely cluttered, and very little sounds good if not nearer-field.
  20. I'm interested as well. Haven't read the H-F thread; is there anything in there - or can someone here chime in - about required power to drive these, assuming theya re similar to LCD-1? I have a Millett Max Hybrid....wondering if that is enough (Ian's Millett at the Boston meet drove the HE-5's well enough for my taste, so I'm hopeful).
  21. Haha! Go Habs! B's got a good one tonight, HARD fought with some solid physical and borderline chippy play by both teams. Heck, the rivalry may be more with the Sabres now! Jack Edwards, Bruins' TV announcer, with the best line after the win: "Snowbal 1, Hell 0 !!" Love it!
  22. If you go hunting now, you can get fresh meat AND fresh pads!
  23. I was hoping the Habs would take this series. As mentioned in the Bruins suck eggs thread, I've actually kind of enjoyed watching Montreal this year. I would have LOVED to see all the lower seeds upset the higher seeds in the East. Philly did it, looks like the Bruins may; was hoping Ottawa and Montreal could, too. Fingers still crossed, but it's an uphill battle for them both.....
  24. Indeed, I now worship Satan! I'm glad I am able to eat some crow (it tastes just like chicken!). Even though I was disgusted perhaps more than even during the Dave Lewis era when I started this thread, I still watched them. I am so glad I was proven wrong in the end. If they can get by the Sabres, looks like they'll get a chance to play Pitt again...and maybe get better payback against Cooke.....
