  7. could be a dying or dead hd try downloading the Ultimate Boot CD: i keep a copy here boot from it and try running some of the hd diagnostic apps
  8. picked up my HE-5's at the post office this morning and am now giving them a first listen.

  10. To me they were just very boring and lifeless sounding phones.
  11. I use two and they are the best pillows I've ever had.
  12. a desktop board is fine, you could use the on-board sata and software raid and/or additional raid cards. really depends on how many drives you have.
  13. with that much data it's stupid to be spreading it over multiple single drives, at least setup a server w/ a raid 5 or 6 array. it's no replacement for real backups but will protect against drive failures.
  14. denon 9200? didn't know such a thing existed, if you mean the exemplar 2900 it sure as hell doesn't use EL-34s.....
  15. It's still one of the best blu-ray players around.
  16. XP isn't that bad, and hell it's 7 yrs old now.... Vista got a bad rap due to crappy early driver support and despite ending up as a pretty solid OS was never able to change that early perception. Windows 7 has been very good so far.

  20. the 8-bay "elite" is absurd, $3.5k w/ no drives. dual disc redundancy isn't anything new it's called RAID 6.

  23. Yep and if she wants a 15" screen i think shes looking at min. of $1700 for macbook pro. Yeah I wouldn't buy into that mac is faster for photo stuff crap.
  24. If you wanted to really stretch your budget, like double it I still have my Sager NP5793 for sale .
