I had a blast cooking in the hot sun at the Sausalito Art Fair today. If any of you Marin HC'ers haven't been you really are missing out. I also sold the 009s and HV which is bittersweet to say the least. They served me well as my main rig for many years. I hope they bring as much happiness to their new owner as they did to me

I may or may not be keeping the electrostatic setup. I'm going to be buying a house in the next two years and there is a chance I pivot towards speakers. I'm on the wait list for the new Eddie Current amp. If I go through with that purchase once production on it starts then I'd probably sell the Stax and HV. I'm very much on the fence.

A black Yggy arrived today..... but they forgot to send a power cord. Edit: plugged it in using a power cable from the junk drawer. This Yggy sounds MUCH better than the last one.

I'm sure the price will be so insane that it won't be worth fretting over. A pair of black HD800s though, that I could get excited about. The ones Warren is wearing look pretty good. Ok, so the headphones live in the box on top of the Amp/DAC? Yuck.

WRT to plankton, one of the coolest things I've ever done was going swimming in a cave where the water was filled with bioluminescent plankton. When you moved the water around you would light up like some kind of special effect. It was very ethereal. I'm hoping this Yggy behaves itself and that it lives up to the hype.

Ugh. Just looked at my Investment accounts. The amount of $ I'm sure we've all lost in the past two weeks is staggering.

I thought the ELAC room was the best bang for the buck setup of the entire show.

Had a great time at the California Audio Show with Ric, Al, Andrew, Grahame and others. Give me a cheap-o room set up well over a mega-bucks room set up poorly every day and twice on Sundays. Pleasant surprises for me included the ELAC speakers room and the two rooms with Audio Note speakers. Each sounded pretty darn good on a solid mid-fi budget.

I am still planning on hitting up the Millbrae pancake house up at about 9:30 before the show. Any and all are welcome to join. If anyone wants to meet up at the show shoot me a DM and I'll send you my cell number.

Someone said if you call/email them they may still honor the price. Worth a shot?

Sooooo.... yeah. Liked the season, but didn't love it. It felt like they just had way too much going on for only being 8 episodes.

I have an irrational love of software updates. For some reason I just love running them. Yesterday was a good day. I got to update four things I use a ton: My Kindle with an update that added a new font and a new typesetting engine.The Plex iOS app. The new one is a HUGE improvement.The Oppo 105 which added streaming from Tidal and some bug fixes.The Oppo iOS remote app I use to run the Oppo.Like I said. A happy day.

So I never thought anything on the Disney channel would ever be for me, but on the recommendation of a friend I've been giving Star Wars: Rebels a shot. Wow, Rebels is actually pretty darn good! Someone had told me that Rebels is a better Star Wars experience than the 3 prequel movies. I think they may be right.

Original owner offered to take it back. If it doesn't sound better after tonight then that is the plan. EDIT: I tried all three inputs (USB, Coax, Toslink) and none of them sound good. I'm 90% sure this Yggy isn't working right. The treble is both hard and distant and the bass is just fat and loose. The Yggy I heard at the SF Bay Area meet didn't sound anything like this one. It is going back to the original owner and I've gone ahead and re-ordered from Schiit. I'm now in the back of the line, but oh well. Better to have one that works. I am going to go back and delete my earlier impressions as I don't think they accurately reflect what a properly functioning Yggy should sound like.

I did some more listening last night, this time through the coax input and I think something may be wrong with this particular Yggy. I A/B'ed it with the Oppo and something just sounds off. I am going to contact Schiit and see about sending it in for them to take a look at.
