  1. DT880 on MassDrop -- could go as low as US$240
  2. The fart, even though caused by a practically hermetic seal around the ears, manifests in the driver. But I wouldn't call it scratchy -- it really does sound like a fart -- so is it farty or scratchy? How to determine if it's the fart -- stick a straw or a finger or somehow else make sure there is a breathing hole between ear and outside world, then move head around. (In other words, somehow break the seal.) if it stops, then it's the fart.
  3. Maybe, I don't know. And I do see a system gain, but it looks unwieldy if you change it often. (I.E. same as Quads and Mackies. And I have no idea where the gain stage that you're attenuating is.) I do see an aux-in, but I think you're instincts regarding paying for the DAC that you're not using as money wasted may be right. They do seem nicely sized for your purposes though.
  4. I wish. I actually scolded her for taking time out to look at kitty pictures on Facebook. ( @ self ) I think I read somewhere that she has the next 3 books of October Daye done in her head, she just needs to get them down.
  5. I've thought about them. I don't think they were $600 at the time, though, I remember them being $800+, so got over-ruled by the Dynaudios. At $600, they're a lot more competitive. Look at this. I say, "Dew et". EDIT: No, I remember, I was looking at them as totable, I ended up getting the Equators instead. I'd be curious to compare the two.
  6. Just finished a Mira Grant mininovella -- The Day the Dead Came to Show and Tell. Brutal as some of her worst.
  7. Feel free to pop a list. I assume the hee-yuk tracks get deleted, neh? Me: Cloudkicker, The Discovery -- (throaty, non-falsetto yell) YYYYYYEEEEEEAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!1!ones!ohnoes! (djenty djenty djent djent)
  8. Or as was pointed out earlier in the thread...or you could just put some passive attenuators so that the volume control works in a more realistic range... But the Stealth 6ses are just three ninety nine! EDIT: On a more serious note, every time powered monitors come up on Synthesizer Freaks (Facebook group), it always turns into a KRK vs. Adam debate. With some JBL thrown in and random input from me. My friend's experience with KRK is that he wouldn't do anything less than the VXT8 (not even the VXT6). So you may want to look at the Adams. I want to try the Dynaudios still, and Focal has introduced some budget offerings.
  9. And apparently one of the Game of Thrones characters died...I mean, actors. RIP JJ Murphy.
  10. What?!?! Oh, man...I has a sad. Probably the single most manic bit I've ever heard was "Come Inside My Mind" from his first album, Reality...What a Concept.

    Hodor!
  12. That does sound really interesting, and I am definitely in, but I have to criticize the use of, "...32 bit CDs". I would love to hear these in actual high res.
  13. I don't remember, you'd have to ask Jin and/or Colin. Or search through the thread. Actually, I need to figure it out. Okay: menKui ten is one of them. Jin says Ippudo is another. That's all I'm finding in the thread.
  14. I highly recommend waiting until the next time you go to New York. There are a couple of decent places in the area, but there are excellent places in New York.
  15. That looks like a well-made ramen.
  16. "God" trolling Westboro
  17. @ clear text passwords in emails Can I and SMH at the same time? 'cause that makes me want to.
  18. He only growls a little bit, mostly sings clean, and even then, it's not full cookie monster. It's when he does vibrato that he sounds like Dennis. And how can you say he's not interesting, he's fabulously entertaining. Watch the Waken video, it's fantastic. I love his self-deprecating sense of humor. "Oh look there's a girl." "We're all ripping off Meshuggah." "Time to get nerdy!" "I have a small penis."
  19. Who are you and why are you using Colin's account?
  20. Hey, that reminds me, Chris, you mentioned caribbean bbq sauce -- any brand in particular?
  21. Saviour, Lights Out, Planetary Confinement, and Alternative Matter are all right up there. One of those groups that when I go back to them, I wonder why I don't listen to them more often. They're just like so little else out there. EDIT: Listening to Saviour now -- it's a bit less moody, rockier. I still love it a lot more than Fear of a Unique Identity, but for entirely different reasons than Lights Out and Planetary Confinement.
  22. WTF, man?!? They totally stole my idea.
  23. Ah found mah purple guitar: Aye keed, aye keed...
