Welcome to the world gorgeous! Great name, especially the middle one. Congrat Naaman and mom!
  2. Maybe you should slow down on the chocolate covered bacon!
  3. Jarhead? That's just mean-spirited.
  4. Wow, out of the sandbox [frying pan] and into the delivery room [fire]! Glad you made it in time, and good luck to you and your wife. Get ready for one of the best days of your life.

I think we have only seen the first 6 but maybe it was 8. I really like it.
  6. Welcome home Naaman! Now get to work on the drinking and smoking and such before your wife kicks your ass and your baby girl takes over EVERYTHING!
  7. I think it is a cool nickname and it came from his playing in NOLA as a youngster. Here is the first paragraph of his bio on his website and it is pretentious but the music is anything but smooth jazz: Troy 'Trombone Shorty' Andrews' new album, Backatown (Verve Forecast April 20), is the work of a rare artist who can draw both the unqualified respect of jazz legends and deliver a high-energy rock show capable of mesmerizing international rock stars and audiences alike. With such an unprecedented mix of rock, funk, jazz, hip-hop and soul, he had to create his own name to describe his signature sound: Supafunkrock! Andrews is the kind of player who comes along maybe once in a generation, and Backatown is the latest, clearest proof that his artistry is as singular as his raw talent.
  8. 11? Couldn't you at least say 18?
  9. Oh, damn, Steve. I didn't see your post before blathering about the swanky hotel. Truly sorry you and Fred are going through this, and I know how hard the decision is to make. I still think about my last dog BillBob all the time and was looking just a couple days ago at the last pics we have of him. He looked awful with lumps and his front paws were so turned in from arthritis that I cringed. He was 14, though, and we had a lot longer time to make the tough decision. The only advice I would dare to offer is to go with your gut and if you think he is really unhappy and uncomfortable do what you have to do. It is incredibly quick and painless for him. But if he is OK and not hurting and just has a different, sleepier life ahead for what time he has left then hang out with him while you can. We sure had old BillBob hobbling around for a long time, and carried him up and down stairs even toward the end, but the vet said he wasn't hurting and he seemed happy to be with us still. Good luck buddy, and take care of yourself too.
  10. Room service at The Pierre. Lobster Club sandwich and mesclun greens. Late lunch CA time or early dinner NY time, not sure yet.
  11. Got up early and flew to NYC for work. Staying at The Pierre, which seems quite swank. The Lounge looks like a good cocktailing spot, although I am hoping to make it to the East Village for a couple drink spots sometime in the next few days. The snacks spread was a good indication of the service and pampering. The mini bar selection and Fever Tree mixers sealed the deal. One problem, though. There are only one of each of the liquors. Might have to call for backup.
  12. Happy road birthday Tyll! It's my sister's today as well. Have fun for two! Cheers!
  13. Dexter is awesome.

  17. Thanks for the congrat(s) for Alden everybody. Being around other brainiacs will do him good and hopefully will allow him to reach his potential. We liked the charter school he was at the last 3 years in many ways, but the student body was not helping his cause. The last straw was when the teachers emphasized that this school has more of an inverted bell curve such that the majority of students were either slow or advanced and few were in the middle. Knowing the reality of his class in particular, there weren't as many on the top end as the bottom and the teachers were forced to teach down way too much. Boredom and lack of challenge are no good. And, Grahame, no I was not like Alden in terms of school. I always did well and got along with teachers and other kids. Plus, I never got caught. Ever. Sorry about the sleep study bust, Dan. That is a hassle. I know a couple people who do really well with those sleep apnea breathing machines. Not sure if that is your specific issue, but those can be very successful. Good luck sorting it out.
  18. Got distracted getting kids to bed, but also meant to mention that we found out tonight that my son was accepted at a private school for gifted kids and will be going there for 7th & 8th grades. I am proud of him but also a little nervous after lots of school issues with him over the years. Here's to hoping this is what he needs.
  19. That's the attitude, Brent. Some things are not meant to be, as I was pretty certain when the sea sucked your wedding ring off your finger. :/ You and your kids can move on and probably have a happier life together and separately if that is how it goes. Hang in there and good luck. As for me, my vacation is ending as I type and I will be back at work tomorrow and in NYC for meetings starting Wednesday. Had a nice time in Michigan but had to get all litigator-y on the the Traverse City Delta Airlines gate guy when he tried to tell me that we were going to be bounced from the flight and that all flights for the next 2 days are oversold like that one. Got on the flight and made the 1-hour connection in Detroit so all was well. Nice to be home, leave the hot and muggy weather for cold and foggy, and to sleep in my own bed. Plus, I haven't shaved all week and even though it was a nice change for a few days I cannot wait to shave off this beard in the morning.
  20. sounds like a tasty fucking sauce
  21. The Raclette is broiled in slices and then plopped on top of the potatoes, pickles, and I forgot the red onion. Swiss delicacy.
  22. We had a Raclette cheese, broiled potatoes and cornichons with salad tonight. Leelanau Cheese makes very good Raclette.
