October 30, 20205 yr Wu Fei & Abigail Washburn I don't know how this escaped my notice in February, but I'm a sucker for Chinese stringed instruments in old time bands.
November 5, 20205 yr Just in case you need a Rush overture for your day.. intro to Spirit of Radio. (RIP Neil)
November 17, 20205 yr Author Was listening to this tonight and it occurred to me to hope another actual civil war will not be necessary.
November 25, 20205 yr I can't stop listening to this stream, especially the song "Shu!", which starts around 13:56 and goes for about 8 minutes. But the whole thing is laid back sublime dancey grooviness.
December 15, 20205 yr Author It's hard to imagine who went: "What this extended edition really needs is a bunch of solo clarinet!" But God bless him (would definitely have been a him in the '80s).
December 15, 20205 yr Can you really call it an intro if it takes up an entire side of an album? I've not heard this extended mix, but I've been a huge fan of Soft Cell since the early 80's. My Father hated it when I'd play 'Sex Dwarf' at a high volume. I had a dance completely coriographed to 'Tainted Love'. Hmmm, I just realized that maybe I wasn't as straight appearing as I thought I was.
December 24, 20205 yr It's not exactly "a song" but it's something you might enjoy. Good for a whole Xmas eve dinner
January 9, 20215 yr Sometimes music pops into my head for no reason – I credit Girl Talk for singlehandedly informing most of my 80s (and 90s-early 2000s hip-hop) pop-listening habits in the last decade:
January 14, 20215 yr Thanks for posting that. I’m a huge Fiona Apple fan, but for some reason hadn’t heard it. What’s amazing about it is that she doesn’t lose the Waterboys-ness of it, while at the same time making it recognizably her.
January 16, 20215 yr I'm really enjoying the singles coming out ahead of Anneke's upcoming album, in a I-want-to-cover-them kind of way:
