December 8, 201114 yr Author Got an email back from toshiba (and subject to translation) the 2sc4686a part was introduced march of 2010 with a planned production run of at least 5 years. No plans to discontinue. So i don't know what is going on yet.

I still don't know how I didn't notice that they were missing until sound wasn't coming from one channel

December 10, 201114 yr Wow mouser updated the lead time on the 2sc4686a, it is now 20 weeks with an estimated ship date of June 8 2012

December 10, 201114 yr I've been talking to one of their reps about this so we'll see what comes of it. If they are indeed at end of life then I'll purchase a supply that will last us a long time.
