  • After 5 years from the time I acquired the PCBs and parts, I finally took advantage of the free time created by the pandemic and completed my KGSSHV.  This is the offboard version with +/-500V supply.

  • Not sure if we have a KGSS thread but I'll just post this here.  So last year it dawned on me that I built my first KGSS amp 15 years ago and something had to be done to celebrate that.  It started of

What exactly happened with the Khozmo? They forgot those 2 Caddocks or used wrong values?

Got an email back from toshiba (and subject to translation)

the 2sc4686a part was introduced march of 2010 with a

planned production run of at least 5 years. No plans to

discontinue. So i don't know what is going on yet.

They forgot them. I emailed them over the weekend but haven't heard anything back yet. I still don't know how I didn't notice that they were missing until sound wasn't coming from one channel facepalm.png

Beautiful build! You guys are really doing some impressive work.

Very nicely done. The front panel of the amp looks so clean when you can move the power switch to your PSU box. The two jack look (a la T2) is really nice.

Also gogo Team Silver!

Looks like they forgot some solder on the two that are present as well...

If it comes to that then I'll just buy a few thousand and sell them back to people as is needed.

Cobra, which cases did you use?

^^ I used cases from par-metal. They are the 16x12x4 model, obviously with custom panels from FPE

Wow mouser updated the lead time on the 2sc4686a, it is now 20 weeks with an estimated ship date of June 8 2012 blink.png

Anybody have about 60 4686 they'd be willing to sell me? Figures one of the only transistors I didn't order yet is out of stock :P

I've been talking to one of their reps about this so we'll see what comes of it. If they are indeed at end of life then I'll purchase a supply that will last us a long time.

Cobra, would you mind posting the files for the FPE panels?

Not exactly sure how to post the files, but anyone that wants them can pm me with an email address and I will send them to you.

Use the More Reply Options button, and then you can attach files. Not sure whether the forum software will allow those native file types, but you could zip them if not.
So this is the new "good deal" price I guess, or is it still possible to get them a bit cheaper? I"ve seen price up to $6 already embarrassed.gif . Thanks for the link!
