October 20, 20241 yr I'm on the lookout for Vol. 1 and Vol. 2, as well as any Leon Russell albums in vinyl or CD.
October 20, 20241 yr He even recorded a Vol IV Hank Wilson tribute. Vol II is in YouTube Music. Hank Wilson's Back would be Vol. 1
October 20, 20241 yr Scriabin: Le Poème de l'extase, Piano Concerto, Prometheus by Vladimir Ashkenazy / Maazel (1971) https://album.link/i/1452378193 Example: I really pulled this for the Ashkenazy Concerto work. But was captivated by the Maazel, Le Poème de l'extase piece. I thought that this was a Decca release, and then discovered it was. But also London. There is a whole history there that I will let you research.
October 20, 20241 yr Jump Up Calypso by Harry Belafonte (1961) https://album.link/i/1087856305 Example: Did I recently watch Beetlejuice?... may be... But regardless, a really good and fun album. It has Jump in the Line, but his voice on Kingston Market is so good.
October 22, 20241 yr Yes - 90125 A perennial favorite... either my hearing is getting worse, better, or I've turned the volume up (long overdue haircut?)... it's more compelling than ever. The 2004 expanded and remastered CD. Edited October 22, 20241 yr by HiWire
October 22, 20241 yr I still listen to Hearts turned up pretty loud. Me: Wood II Brian Bromberg (2006) https://album.link/i/339937931 Example: Good for testing and listening...
October 23, 20241 yr I underestimated the remaster's volume - I do think they turned it up, but there is no trace of clipping or distortion - Hearts got really loud in the end, as it should! And Brian Bromberg covers Earth, Wind and Fire's Shining Star on Wood II. Edited October 23, 20241 yr by HiWire
October 25, 20241 yr Dua Luipa: Tiny Desk Concert. Brat. Or not quite, apparently. https://www.perplexity.ai/search/is-dua-luipa-brat-as-the-kids-dU6aho7vS2qQXs_LWZYdqw#0 Interestingly, adjacent in the algo feed was this. I wasn't sure if they were a real J-Pop band, or just an AI retro-futuristic generated version like this How would I tell? Can you? Are the extensive production credits a clue, or just a by product?
October 26, 20241 yr Demon Days by Gorillaz (2005) https://album.link/i/850571319 Example: Just chilln
October 26, 20241 yr Live at Max's Kansas City by The Velvet Underground (1972) https://album.link/i/1070716468 Example: Good recording? no.. It was after all recorded on a cassette. But a great snapshot in time..
October 27, 20241 yr (Who's Afraid Of) The Art Of Noise? by Art Of Noise (1984) https://album.link/i/1364593455 Example: So my friend sent me an DM this morning asking what was my favorite Art of Noise song was, with hers being the Example. So I had to think about it, and I just had to ask myself, (Who's Afraid Of) The Art Of Noise?, and listen to the album again. While Beat Box (Diversion 1) is very very good, there are two things I like a little bit more from this album, the classic - Close (To The Edit), and the just lovely - Moments in Love. But when I thought of a fav, it was not from this album, it was on the In Visible Silence (1986) album. Which I have posted here several times before. When I thought of Art of Noise, this tune was first in line. A lot of my musical influences are packed into this 4:30 minute song from my teen years.
October 29, 20241 yr New Release, New artist to me. This is good. Already looking forward to listening again. ex.
October 30, 20241 yr watched to this. I was intrigued, little bit of Amy Lee sound with some Tori Amos for me. With that I listened to the more recent album She Reaches Out To She Reaches Out To She by Chelsea Wolfe (2024) https://album.link/i/1711265605 It was not what I was expecting - more on the Trip-hop side. Not bad, just not what I was expecting coming off the hunting Tiny Desk show. Apparently, they have very diverse albums, new artist to myself. So I think I will have to check out their early works.
October 31, 20241 yr ^^^ Yes, definitely check out her earlier stuff. @Dusty Chalk would likely have even more recommendation specifics....
November 1, 20241 yr The Cure did a live stream from London tonight of their new album, which is ... fine, honestly. But after playing that, they then spent another 2+ hours blistering through their back catalog and it was something else! Robert Smith still in great voice, the band tight, A++ live sound mixing. This 80s kid highly recommends! The retrospective starts about an hour in after the first intermission.
November 3, 20241 yr Written In The Stars by Bill Charlap Trio (2000) https://album.link/i/723534675 Some 2000 jazzy jazz on Blue Note? - you bet. Mastered by Ric Wilson, and yup, sounds good... Mostly standards, but has a lot of weight to the tracks.
November 3, 20241 yr Chiaroscuro by Darol Anger (1985) https://album.link/i/1201476217 Example: I came across a clip of Darol playing with Britney Haas the other day. And I was like I know Darol, I use to listen to him back in the 80's. I still have several Windom Hill LPs. So this is the stuff I listened to in the 80's along with Animotion (look that one up kids).
November 5, 20241 yr Because reasons: Sinatra At The Sands by Frank Sinatra (1966) https://album.link/i/1440842924 Example: And words for Mr. Jones RIP

November 6, 20241 yr Don't know why I needed to listen to this today... Destroyer by Kiss (1976) https://album.link/i/1440854205 Example: So there was that...
November 7, 20241 yr Juju Jubilee by Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey & His Inter Reformers Band (1985) https://album.link/i/1565283299 Example: What I really needed.
