Mobland The same leads as The Thursday Murder Club, But an entirely different , (Guy Ritchie) vibe. Plenty of dodgy and diamond geezers in an underworld setting. Great pacing, visuals, intrigue, banter and twists. And Tom Hardy. Satisfying. MobLand review – Tom Hardy can pull off miracles! And this show needs a few | Television & radio | The Guardian https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2025/mar/30/mobland-review-tom-hardy-guy-ritchie

I like them a lot and they are technically proficient but lately I've been a bit off on ported designs as they lack involvement to me. Not enough engagement compared to the greats but, not nearly as bad as the Hifiman Shangri-la mini where the sound just hangs there. I've been meaning to make a proper review of them but this year as a whole has just sucked.

RIP, Dame Jilly Cooper

Nelson Pass apparently mentioned it at Burning Amp last weekend. I wasn't there so don't know what he said about it, but the insinuation was that he was favorably impressed by it.

I like the DAC discussed in the P-F article! Looks like it'll be about $12K USD though......

^ Never understood going after Mann. Have two of her books. Spent Sunday at a lowrider event at Montalvo, likely my last one of 2025. Decided to take two cameras and have a little test between them - a dusty, slow Hassy 500cm with II 50c 50MP digital back & old Zeiss Distagon 50 f/4 T* and a shiny, snap-like Sigma 24MP BF (Beautifully Foolish) with a matching new 35 f/2 Contemporary. For fun shot at 1:1, which most definitely isn’t natural for me. Hassy Sigma - Yesterday

I know these aren't Stax, but have any of you tried Audeze CRBN2 in lieu of the 007s? Bob Katz seems quite enamored with them using one of Birgir's Carbons as the amp. Kinda expensive, but not sure what 007s are running these days either. https://positive-feedback.com/reviews/hardware-reviews/imersiv-d1-dac/

Megatron Electrostatic Headphone Amplifier
JoaMat replied to kevin gilmore's topic in Do It Yourself
A new daughter board to my Megatron something. It sets the grid potential of the output tubes. A few resistors, one trimmer set offset and the other the balance plus a small 120V GRHV supply completes the whole thing. So, I removed cathode resistor along with its decoupling capacitor. EL34 has Vgk 40 V and 2A3 has Vgk 92 V. The amplifier has solid state CCS (no top tubes). Works? so far so good. -
Guido Barbujani - The Invention of Races - Science Against Racism Well I'm already anti-racist and I think "race" is a looooong outdated concept but still it feels good when science agrees with your point of view. Really good book, has no pseudo-scientific bullshit in it, not easy to understand, going to take a bit longer to finish than my regular reading materials. But still a good read.

The Knuckledragger 3rd Memorial Slow Forum Post

I have questions. I don't want them answered. -
Thanks Nate for the advice. I consume 5-6 liters of fluid on daily basis. Min 3 liters of water, 2 cups of coffee, 4 cups of tea. But about salt, yea I love salt. I have to reduce the amount I consume, I suppose. Gonna work on it. Also, I - at least - doubled the consumption of dairies since I became vegetarian (13 months have passed since I became one) to make up the amount of protein I need. Maybe that contributed as well. I took appointments for urology and MRI for next Monday. Gonna get a clear picture I hope.

The Life of a Showgirl by Taylor Swift (2025) https://album.link/6czzqws7wv6p3 Example: The internet needs more old white guy opinions of music that has nothing to do with them. So why not one more? I think it is overall a nice album. Very few musicians involved, this is a pure Max Martin and Shellback joint. As Rick Beato would point out, there are 100s of tracks per song. Having this dense of a production I hope goes away pretty soon. There are some funny moments and some poignant moments. Not going into rotation, but not mad at it.

So far I've been using PCBway for all of my printing, since I already order PCBs from them regularly. JLC seems like it would also be good, probably equivalent in most ways, like their PCB production. The one minor downside to PCBway is that the lead times for printed parts can be less reliable and a few extra days for completion is not uncommon. I've been wanting to try some US-based services, especially for larger orders, but so far have only tried Xometry once, when there was a time-sensitive need. They were good, and more expensive. The biggest disadvantage to using printing services instead of having a machine is that I can't really dial things in like this, though if I talked to the engineer running the machine they could probably give useful advice. I've started to use hexagonal or octagonal holes where possible to avoid this. I've also had to drill out some 2mm holes to use a batch of parts. Another tolerance thing I've run into, at least with resin parts and without having control over the part orientation on the bed, is that flat surfaces can sometimes become convex, which is a problem if the part needs to sit flush. To avoid this I'll usually add some kind of concavity to the surface so that only the edges make contact. @JoaMat's construction is pretty much what I've been thinking about, since it makes pin removal much easier than Neutrik's rotate-to-release (which did not work for me when I tried with a loose contact) or using a tool. I've also been thinking about a version that could be laser-cut or more simply CNC'd, if the plug piece was sliced into two pieces. You wouldn't get the nice flush panel mounting though. Circular connector contacts would be interesting to try, like this Amphenol AT62-210-1231-1820, though the ebay collet-style are going to be cheaper than most of those. I was also thinking about a PCB-mount socket, using Mill-Max 0321 or Preci-Dip 16008-83-4010 sockets, which are equivalent. A PCB with no copper could act as insulator and improve mechanical strength. Here's a quick render, without the necessary flange with mounting holes or traces to attachment points. A flex-rigid PCB socket could be cool in production, with the flex material potentially allowing some amount of "floating" contact behavior and also eliminating a few solder joints between the amp's output and the socket.

Twisted Metal (Peacock) - An amnesiac is enlisted to drive across a post-apocalyptic USA wasteland to pickup & deliver a package on the promise of a better life. Apparently based on a series of Sony Playstation games of which I am not familiar. Think The Transporter meets Mad Max. Mackie brings the self-deprecating swagger, while Beatriz brings...herself, which is always great. Qwerky & (violently) fun. I am about halfway thru season 1, & think it's lots of fun.

Man it's been a good 10 years since I had a kidney stone. I'm glad to only have had one and you're quite lucky to not have felt the passage from kidney to bladder (unless it really was just a bladder stone). Just about all patients (Steve and I included) experience the worst pain as the stone makes its way from Kidney down, simply because that's the smallest pipe. But all that said, completely agree, passing a solid is not fun. Side note - look for areas in your life where you are letting yourself get overly dehydrated or taking in too many salts/minerals. My brother in law had stones 4 or 5 times until he realized that taking his kids leftover multi-vitamins on top of his own daily vitamin was overloading his kidneys. Talk about a painful lesson.

No point in ever turning up the pedal tensioners until you've pulled out of them because you're cranking so hard. I doubt you ever get there, I never have even when pulling 1000W in a sprint. More than anything I'm glad you're enjoying the bike. As your fitness increases and your body adapts to the positioning more and more it'll become even more fun. And she's sexy, that much is for sure.

It’s a shame he killed himself by going full MAHA and thinking an all-fruit diet would cure his cancer. The Reality Distortion Field had its limits. Hoisted on his own petard, to be sure, but he is missed.

@luvdunhill in case you find this of use. It is a summary of brew profiles by brand / specific coffee that I found on reddit. If you click on one of the coffees it takes you to a Fellow site where you can use your camera over the scan code and it will populate the brew profile on your Fellow Aiden app directly. Up to you whether you want to save, alter or discard. Pretty nifty as I was able to find several of the coffees I purchase from Intelligensia and Onyx. https://brewshare.coffee Here is the reddit post in case you want more details HS

I’m coming up on 200 miles on the new bike and still very much in the honeymoon phase. I did a 35ish mile ride today and had a blast. This thing is a riot to get out and ride. I love how much distance I can cover, and it feels like a proper machine. The farm roads where I live are infinite, and with the radar I’m not caught off guard when motorists do want to overtake. I’m starting to get used to the clipless setup. No wipe-outs since the initial one. As I’ve developed a more deft touch on the brakes it is easier to dismount under control. I still have close calls every now and then so not ready to crank the pedal tensioners up yet, but I’m getting there. I’m ready for a bike fit and booked one with a local place that a co-worker recommended that uses the Retul stuff. I don’t know what I’m doing outside of going by feel, so hoping they can help me out. I’m not sure if my saddle is right or not, and I do get some shoulder soreness on longer rides. I can see fit being more and more important as I do longer rides. I’m also going to bring the bike back to the shop for a break-in adjustment and cleaning. She is getting filthy and I don’t have access to a hose to spray it off.
