Clearly everyone in this forum shares a passion for quality audio reproduction. Regardless of location, financial situation, age, gender, or any other differences we may have, we are united in this passion. My question for all of you is: How and when did you first realize that you wanted more from your audio system? And what did you do about it? I'll start with my story. When I was 15 years old (I think) I asked for a pair of noise canceling headphones for Christmas. I received them from my cousins, a pair of $50 Targus noise cancelling headphones. I loved them! In retrospect they were crap, but I was ecstatic about them. I used them for a while, and then one d…

Lately I've been trying to follow the push-up routine from one hundred push ups, which sounds like a good idea: 100 push-ups within a couple of weeks. Let's see if it works out (I started out at 19 max). Do you have a workout routine you use or can recommend, especially to gain some upper body strength and mass? Not trying to look good on the beach (there's isn't one here anyway), just want a more healthy mix between an underdeveloped upper body and soccer-abused lower body.

This really confuses me. When inane posts (perceived differently by any given reader) are cleaned up and mods step in to control the quality of posts, or kick out idiots (again, alledged differently by each reader) we are called the Nazi Police, or are blamed for "over-moderation". Everyone needs different things from a forum and sometimes, no matter what direction moderation goes in, it can be considered poor management by anyone at any given time. Moderators can only try to do what they think are right and aren't going to please everyone, all of the time. And consistency, can be tough. Hell, even our government and major corporations that have been around 50+ years, sti…

I had the unfortunate experience of Google Talking with Icarium once. It was a long time ago, Sept. 2007 I believe. Even now, almost a year later, my fingers are still somewhat numb. Doctors say that they might never fully recover. This being Head-Case, I would like to hold a contest suitable for you. Contest rules: 1. Enter into a Google Talk session versus Icarium by August 8. The session should last for at least three minutes. 2. You may Talk about anything Head-Case-related. 3. The Top 3 winners will be ranked by Icarium based on the amount of challenge he feels they presented to him. I don't expect anyone to actually beat him, so it will be a subjectiv…

So I was really bored at work, and decided to look at some optical illusions, and found ways to see (or not see I suppose) where your blind spot is. Its fun! Just close one eye, focus on the dot or the cross, and move your head closer to the screen and eventually the dot (or the cross depending on what you originally focused on) will disappear! Oh and if you want it to work you have to look at the left object with your left eye closed or the right object with your right eye closed. This one below is cool because it shows how your brain is remarkably good at filling in missing information.

I sort of just finished it. Got tired of my old one and got really tired of all the scrolling so started working on a new one. What do you think? Is it better than the previous one? I'm still going to work on it to personalize it a little more as it's a little stiff for me but it's nice to hear some opinions on the usage / interface and the like. Maybe even ideas on things that might be missing.... Thanx in advance www.contrastique.com

while it may not be you, i find it hard to think of anyone else who would send me 2 pms on headfi from different accounts saying "this is an interesting pm, interesting to cj that is." while it was funny for a while and i appreciated the humor at my expense, it is no longer cute since it requires me to actually do something to delete a nonsensical pm from my mailbox. unlike headcase, headfi doesnt give me a billion pm's so i have to clean it out every so often. i wish you would stop. do it all you want in the chat, i dont care but if i have to take the time to actually do something about it, then imo, i have something bitch about. take this to be another immature rant…

Not sure what you guys did to land on the blacklist but I can't reach HC in China without going through a proxy. Or maybe your IP neighbours did something and the whole ip block was blocked.

So I really like the headcase community. Not because I'm a audiophile or a techie or a guy who likes to sit at the computer and visit chat rooms. I really like the people here and enjoy the comraderie. And of course I love music. Like when I look at the "What are you listening to" forum I am blown away with how interesting it is. How much I have in common and how much opportunity it offers me to explore new territory. But when you all get going with your witty repartee(can't spell. have a brain problem. it's real. over) I'm out of it. Just look at this post, for example. Blah, blah, blah. You're a bunch of Noel Cowards and I'm kind a long winded Woody... Al…

This thread is for the purposes of asking and answering questions about T-Shirts that you have either been unable to find anywhere else in this forum or asking a question that somehow seems inappropriate to ask in other threads. As long as the question has something to do with T-Shirts, anything goes (within respectable reason, of course). Your questions and their answers may be about anything that has to do with any type of T-Shirt.

I'm sorry if this is the wrong venue for what I'm about to say, or if this is inappropriate, but I'm just about fucking fed up with this Democratic Congress. What pushed me over the top was the FISA bill: if you haven't heard, the Senate passed FISA with the immunity provision. Now, as a self-professed liberal, I am fucking sick and tired of the current Democratic leadership. Time and time again they fucking capitulate and bend over for their opponents. When the fuck are they ever going to fucking grow some balls and stand up for once?!?! Man, I thought I was pretty skeptical about government when I was in school, but working in DC around the Hill has made me even…

Some unfinished business. Analog photography from Voltron's Mayberry on Acid Meet. Almost trashed the negatives, the proofs really sucked. (Note to self: Slow shutter + alcohol do not mix.) Took a second look and a few of the scans didn't turn out too bad.

Anyone here have any experience / advice? I have already read a lot of literature on the subject -- both on and offline -- but it always means more coming from anonymous internet strangers.
