So I made a second batch of Peter's Purple Chicken, only this time I used a white zinfandel (Frey), almost a rose'. I tried to make a rue with the leftover wine (+ flour + butter), but it turned out a little tart. What can I add to combat the tartness, any recommendations?

Instead of keeping the Flip Ultra after finding out it doesnt take external memory or take pics, I decided to get a cheap point and shoot instead. I'm looking for one under $150 but hopefully closer to $100. I've been looking on Budget Camera Group Test (Q4 2008) Review: 1. Introduction: Digital Photography Review and it seems that the Panasonic Lumix LZ8 is a good one. If anyone else has any other recommendations, I'm open to anything.

I'll go first: Pamprin is probably the greatest product since Kotex, far better than Midol!! And the greatest function and feature on the internet is the "search" function; find whatever you are looking for without bothering anyone!!

My father-in-law's estate is sending my wife's whole family (19 of us) to Cancun for one big fling before the Nana of the family is too old to travel or isn't with us anymore. She's at 77 years, but so was father-in-law when he passed away this summer, so her family wanted to build some new memories while she's still with us. Is there anything to do or place to go in Cancun that we absolutely should not miss? Any dangers or places to avoid? We'll be at some all inclusive beach resort that I can't even pronounce, but I think there is a water park near by. I've only been to Mexico once, and the Tijuana taxi driver's scared the crap out of me - is it like that in Canc…

I'm thinking about getting one of these to gain better access to my attic: Products The largest model is 4' x 6' and lifts up to 750 pounds. Cost is $2,595 plus shipping, so nearly $3k to Florida. Then the on-shipping to Cayman and 20% import duty when it gets here. Then paying someone to prepare the opening, do the install, and make it all look finished. Probably $5k or more before all is said and done. But that would allow me to: 1) Get most of the junk in my attic out of there, much of which is my former fiancee's accumulated possessions from living in Cayman for 17 years prior to moving to the US almost 10 years ago. She's shown zero interest in any of i…

Remember when the first car that drove by would stop to help, if you were broke down? On my way home from work yesterday, I saw an elderly woman standing by her car on the side of the road. I almost drove right past, but something said stop. Upon asking, it seemed she had a flat tire. She didn't exactly seem thrilled that I had stopped, not at first anyway. But once I offered to change the tire for her, she seemed to warm. Turns out her spare was also flat. So I suggested we take both to a near by tire shop. Once there the fix was easy, inexpensive and quick. On the way back she admitted to me that at first she wondered if I was up to no good, and had been wary of my …

I don't really want to do this, but wifey asked if I could post the link to a plea page she has up for our stupid cat. We found out he has a growth in his ear that's probably a tumor of some sort and the vet wants between $3800 and $4500 to fix it. So on top of losing my job we now have this.. so anyway, don't feel in the least bit obliged or anything, I'm posting because she asked me to. I love them for what they are, my commuter iem. =T The other day after a brisk jog, the left side now has intermittent sound. I don't know where the problem originates from, so I was hoping someone here might be able to take a look at them. Well, either that or if someone is selling a pair, I'd love to take them off your hands. I called Altec Lansing last night and they told me the im716's have been discontinued for 3 years already and that since I was out of warranty for 1 month, they couldn't help me. =[ Any help would be appreciated.

Anyone care to review some gear they haven't ever heard? The HE90 is a great headphone, especially paired with the Orpheus headphone amplifier. The Orpheus has the power in wattage and ampules to move the electrostatic weave band very quickly creating beautiful transient response and superb imaging akin to the best speaker systems ever made. Its like being there with the musicians when you listen to it. I was listening to jazz with it and it is like Miles Davis is alive and in my room with me blowing horn. Its like finally i stop listening to my gear and start listening to the music. After all, isn't that what this hobby is all about? Also the HE90 has a blacker backgr…

Prebable: Jeff (VPI Vinlyspinner) was kind enough to invite me to indulge in a taste test of a matched pair of small, round (with a hole in the middle) glazed donuts from Britts. I was happy to oblige. Actually, he just did a head nudge towards the kitchen and said, "You better hurry or they'll all be gone." In any case, I would like to publicly slobber all over Jeff (in a strictly figurative sense) for having had the opportunity to ingest a couple of the above poorly described donuts. Heading 2: (To further set the stage - because I like being on stage - in the desperate hope of making others believe that what follows will somehow be worth reading) While I …

This has to be the best thing on the McDonalds menu, and also the only thing that probably won't lead to an early death. What you have is a reasonably sized small meal or snack (about 300 calories, similar to a large bowl of cereal) consisting of sliced apples which have been dipped in some preservative to keep their color and crunchiness, salted or sweetened walnuts, and a vanilla yogurt. I like to dip the apple slice in the yogurt, then stick a walnut on top of it, then eat it. It's a good combination. Also, each fruit & walnut salad is wrapped in plastic so you can stock up and keep them in your fridge. Hard to beat at $1.90 each (offer not valid in AK or HI) Mo…
