I'm not sure if Catcher has been made into a movie - yet. certainly, as an immensely popular work for near 6 decades there are those that would be chomping at the bit to do so. and since i can't find a more appropriate forum here goes: J.D. 12. Dave over at the EEVBlog put up this informative post on the economics of selling niche electronics. As our headphone stuff is about as niche as it gets, I figure many of the points he talks about in this article are going to apply. Worth a read! http://www.eevblog.com/2014/05/28/the-economics-of-selling-your-hardware-project/

Audio recording | Hear the difference | The Economist But in the hands of experts, the best analogue and digital systems are virtually indistinguishable. Warmth can be dialed into digital circuitry. Clarity, spaciousness and purity of tone can be produced by top-end analogue amplifiers. Stuck with equipment that’s less than ideal, it’s no surprise that the vast majority of purists on either side of the tube-versus-transistor divide have their prejudices confirmed. And so the religious audio wars rage on. Heresy? Check out the comments. I liked this one. I have never listened to a valve amplifier. It's a peculiarly American high end hangup in my opinion.

Since Head-Case has of late begun its own DIY cable gallery, I'd like to discuss what I think is appropriate for such a gallery. Given that the Head-Fi DIY cable gallery has been used for commercial promotion by certain members (see the Ruh Roh thread), it would be nice if we could avoid that fate here. For example, posting glamour shots of cables for the purposes of attracting offers to buy is in my opinion not right. The DIY forum exists to help people build components which they could otherwise buy and promote the hobby of doing the same. At the same time, people should be encouraged to go into business if they're interested, since doing so fosters competition and ther…

Hey, fellas! I've created this thread for us to discuss our furry pets at home. This is our Pomeranian, Kyle. He’s a little tyke who loves to chew on his nylabone, cheerfully bark in the morning, and cuddle at night before bed time. He may be a bit naughty at times, but he’s a great, loyal four-legged friend, overall. Feel free to share your pet stories, guys.

  23. I've decided after reading the "i guess i listen really loud" thread that I'd temporarily donate my sound level meter to who ever wants to use it. That way anyone that wants to determine safe listening levels can do just that. You won't have to worry any more if you're destroying your hearing. Here is what I propose. I'll ship it to the the first person that wants it. After they're done they'll ship it to the next person on the list, so on and so forth until it gets shipped back to me in the end. This is presuming that anybody is interested.

I'm looking to read more science fiction. I've read the Dune series as well as some Clive Barker (Imajica...etc.) but I'd like to get into more of the classics and also modern writers as well. Obvious beginnings would be Orson Scott Card, Neal Stephenson, Issac Asimov (no, I haven't read anything by Assimov... I know, I'm a bad geek)... Philip K Dick, ...etc. So what Science Fiction should I read and what modern authors/series do people recommend? What are your essential books? Cheers, thrice

I have to admit that the IRS is getting on my nerves a bit -- getting me just a little bit angry. Doing those things they do. I did my tax (or rather, had them done) early this year because we owed a little bit a of money last year, and I switched jobs last year, so I wanted to see where I was at in terms of taxes. As it turms out, because of various factors, I significantly overpaid, so I'm expecting what for me was a sizable refund. My taxes were electronically filed on 2/16. According to the IRS chart, I should have had my refund directly depositted last Friday. As of today, nothing. So I check online and find that the processing of my return has been "delayed,"…
