"Stop pretending to be a rap star." Leather & metal closed dynamics. Reasonably attractive looking. They have a kickstarter. Higher amounts get you an actual pair of cans. I know one guy in LA who has a set and claims to love them, but he's much more of a gamer than an audio snob.

Having done research on headphones within my price range and having reached no conclusion on what I should buy, I have decided to enlist the help of professional audiophiles. What I'm looking for in headphones is clarity, bass and all that other junk are also important to me, but the most important thing that I look for in headphones is crisp and clear music. If you can find it in your heart, please help this poor soul by providing some thoughtful advice as to what I should purchase.

I'm looking for a pair of high-quality headphones to mix/monitor on for recording purposes. The HD650's have long been recommended for this purpose (despite being less neutral than the HD600), and as I keep hearing that the LCD-2's share a somewhat similar sound signature - I'm wondering if they would be a good choice in my situation. I am aware that some engineers use the LCD-2's for this purpose, but I've heard comparatively little information about them when used for monitoring. Sennheiser UK had some in this morning - so it looks as if the HD 700 is now starting to ship.

I think these are one of the good 'uns under a thousand bucks and come up a little over half that used. They have nice tone, good speed, and focused soundstage. They have more sparkle and air than an LCD-2. LCD-2 bass has a slight edge in texture and a definite advantage in bass slam. HE-500 bass is almost a bit too Lambda-ish and can sound somewhat one note when underpowered. They sounded a lot more articulate off a Beta22. Where they really outshine the LCD is in the midrange and treble. There are some odd dips in the HE-500 mids, but it doesn't have that constant shelved down sound that the LCD has. I have a budget of just €60, and I'd like a headphone both good for gaming and music. I want to use it both on my PC and MP3 player. Doing some researches and reading a lot of reviews, I've come across these 2 headphones: Sennheiser HD 429, and Razer Electra, both €59 here in Italy. Now I really can't decide...I'm not sure if the HD 429 will be good for gaming too (they say to have "powerful bass response without sounding bloated" and this is good for games, right?), and I'm not sure if the Electra will be very good for music…

HD650 used to be the headphone to get. Everyone seem to have one at one point or another. I have heard on various occassion and I am quite familiar with the sound signature. However I have not own one, I had always planned to get one, however throughout all these time, I never got around to do it for one reason or another. Recently, I considered getting it again. However again I ended up with something else, the HE-500. I compared them, along with LCD-2, the two orthos sounded better by a significant margin to me, which made sense considering they also cost more. My name is Jesse Milstead of Lackey high school and my engineering team and I are desiging/creating a tracesable arrow using both a knock that lights up and a very small speaker. The speaker part is what i need your help with, we need a speaker 3mm or smaller and it doesnt matter how long it is. Its announcement has seemed to have been ignored here, but IMO, this is a very special headphone. I own the W1000X, and acknowledge its faults, but there is no comparison between the two. If you love opera, female vocals, chamber music, etc. I am sure you will love the W3000ANV.

I was originally thinking about getting the hd 558, 598, or the 595, but they are open ear and aren't very portable.
