I am thinking about sending a NIB pair of Grado 325is to Headphile and have them made into Vixens. Do any of you have a pair? If so, how do you like them compared to the unmodded unwoodied Grados?

Hi folks, I'm new here. I was wondering if anyone had good advice on a portable phone that is resilient in artic temps? I'm in Canada, use an iPod and want something better than the iduds, but the phones have to fit under my toque, so KSC 35's and anything larger are out. I own Ety 4p's but I can't have the isolation while walking.

Whitney's got my LCD3s right now and they are slated to go to Christian next week. I put Frank on the list because I know he is interested (he hasn't gotten back to me). Hello I am new to this forum and require a repair on my STAX Omegas. The right channel has begun cutting out when I move my head. It is intermittent. It is not amp related as I have tried them with more than one amp. Can anyone recommend someone based in the UK who could do a repair. Many thanks.

The Stax Omega 2's are headphones I've been interested in for a long time, and lately I've been getting the urge to buy a pair. Thanks to pricejapan a new pair would only cost about $1500 which is far cheaper they are from US Stax dealers. A few things are holding me back from pulling the trigger: 1) I'm perfectly happy with my current L3000 based rig, at most an O2 rig would be complimentary 2) The reported lack of bass impact compared to dynamic phones has always been a concern. I'd like to hear peoples opinions on the O2's and any comparisons to your favorite dynamic phones would be very helpful.

Cycle World magazine has a review of JH Audio JH-5Ms in its latest issue (June 2011, pg 100). CW loved the sound quality at low to mid- speeds, but felt that wind noise overpowered the iems at high speeds. They also said that the JH-5M didn't block sound as well as ear plugs. I need to change the headband pad on my HE90 but I've never actually done it before. Can anyone here talk me through it so it makes sense and I don't break something? I think the cups have to come off but I'm not positive. Any help would be appreciated, Gary.

There's a pair of really nice looking SR-404LE's for sale at another site. $700.00 ... I got the itch to pull the trigger just because; fatter cable, swanker looks, leather pads ... and supposedly pretty great on the Lambda scale (I've read the main threads here at Hcase re: such)... But already having the 307's (my secondary cans) and some Koss ESP950's (my main, most loved cans) ... just not sure if I'd regret a $700 purchase for a minimal improvement over either of my current cans (especially the ESP950's which I consider quite dramatically better than my 307's... Really pretty, though, that's for sure. Also not sure if $700 used is fair or not ...

Have been drooling for years over a Sony MDR-R10 (bit of a Sony vintage gear fan), but there is no way I could afford it back in the '90, and still can't at the prices these go for nowadays. Hi was wondering if anyone can give me some advice? I have a pair of Stax Gamma Pro and SRD7SB that I have had for many years, but have not used them for a long time as the thin diaphrams of the Gammas Developed holes in many years ago reducing the volume and freqency response (I had a look inside). Also the headband if broken. I have recently found out after after all these years doing some research that this was the wrong type of adaptor for these Gamma Pros, - the SRD7SB being a "NORMAL" type 6 pin adapter and the Gamma Pros being a "PRO" type 5 pin connection which require different bias voltages. I am getting ready to come home in about a month and have to start mailing my gear home. I figure rather than have it sit around, it might was well get some use. I have already offered up the Buffalo and currently have: SWT61->Augsburger->Deepak. The Buffalo will be set up for SPDIF use only. I was hoping the guys at TP would have had the MUX ready by now but no such luck. The Buffalo is in a beat up Par-Metal case so it isn't much of a looker but should give an idea of the sound. I was wondering what headphone cable length would be ideal for a home setup. My logic tells me that shorter is better, since it will limit the total cable capacitance. Of course it needs to be long enough to not be inconvenient and flexibility also plays an important role. Let's just assume that I'd use a balanced version of Alex' V3 cable. Assuming an audio rack setup next to a medium sized desk I would think that a 6' cable would be enough for regular use, and then an extension cable could be used for when you want to sit in the couch and use your cans for nighttime TV watching.
