Anyone have suggestions on who to use for a balanced recable of the 701's? Thought about Headroom but they're limited to the Cardas cable. Already have Larry and Drew in mind. Other suggestions?

Dear All, I love to listen to music, like all of us, for a few years now I have Audio Note E boxes and 2A3 PSE amp. Love the detailed, but still relaxing sound of it. A good balance between details and sweetness. With other words, I like the sound of an Audiolab 8000A, but can not listen to it for more than like 30 minutes. I am new in STAX but already fall in love with it after a few audition. Now I like to spend about US$ 500 - 600, yeah it is not enough to get the best Stax, but maybe you guys here can help me to decide what to chose with that amount that your experience has the best in sound quality. My interest is a light jazz and some classic music and maybe some pop music too. I do own a Qinpu A-6000 Hybrid amplifier, that might enough to drive an energizer. When I was llving in NYC, I used my Etys all the time. They were great in the subway and walking to work. There was only one time that I almost got hit by bus. My other senses eventually compensated and everything was grand. Here in Ohio I don't have as much use for them, so I haven't been listening as much. The speaker part is what i need your help with, we need a speaker 3mm or smaller and it doesnt matter how long it is. Hi, I'm looking for advice on headphones. I use them to listen to mp3's and tube on the laptop and the TV at night and gaming. I have a habit of getting the cables caught up, loosening the wires or bending the jack, meaning I have to replace them from time to time. Because of this I tend to get fairly basic relatively inexpensive sets. I usually buy Panasonic RP-HTF350E-N Monitor Headphones (originally made by Technics) which were really great sound quality for the money but it appears this product is now discontinued and impossible to procure. I'm looking to get a pair of closed phones for around $100. I prefer full-sized phones and in terms of importance I'd say sound quality #1, isolation #2 and everything else pretty much irrelevant. Two that have caught my eye so far are the Audio Technica ATH-ES7 and the Equation RP-21. Any other suggestions or thoughts on those two?

The shure se530's came in today. Was able to play with them a good chunk of time due to no school. I mainly was using my moth si2a3/45H with meridian as I am still waiting on my new 6g ipod to come in. The fit is excellent to my ears, nice and easy to insert, stays in place, and all the tips work just fine. I would say the triple flange is really awkward and I probably won't bother with it anymore because it places it too far out the ear. I tried the small rubber ones and the medium sized olive foam I believe, those are the ones I like so far. So we are going to San Diego for vacation Saturday and it will be Molly's first airplane. Which means we need distractions. I've got some Disney classics and some kids tunes loaded up on the iPad, which means headphones. She turns 3 in August. So my ER-6i broke for the 3rd fucking time and I have had enough! I am looking for some IEMs to use on the train unamped. Budget is around $100-$150 because I honestly don't really care how good my music sounds when I am in NYC metro... My 6i lacked a bit of bass, but other than that, they got the job done. I've recently purchased myself some budget Sennheisers and Rolands (HD 212 pros and the RH-200s) for my PC / Drum kit, and decided to plug both in to my sound card. The Rolands blew me away despite their flat, monitor purpose and the 212 pros were nice for bassy music, but not so great for gaming. If Roland RH-200's can blow me away, I want to fork out more and get something better! I've decided I was to go a few notches up and grab a pair of medium range headphones for gaming. From what little I know of specs, I see that the Denons are only 20 Ohms, presumably meaning I'd not need a canamp for them, but definitely for the 650's? I understand that open headphones …

Fuck, I tripped over my headphone cable of my ATH-A100Ti, and bent/broke the plug. I also broke my soundcard in my computer, but care a lot less about that, since I usually use an external one -- I don't think I'll get that fixed. So I'm thinking: rewire it! So what's the best 1/4" plug out there right now? Does Cardas make one? Or should I just get any old one? Should I also recable my headphones while I'm at it? Or should I sent it back to audiocubes or eifl for fixing? Can that even be done? Actually, just tested it out on a different connection, it appears it still works, must be the soundcard that got disconnected on one channel.

I recently fell into a deal on Grado sr-100's that I couldn't pass up. No, not the HP drivers. They appear to be pink,white lettering plastic grill. Either way, they seem to sound better than other Grado's I've had around here. Not up to the Stax sound, but pretty good with a Millet minimax. Either way, $30 well spent.
