Grok Headphones in Fullness

  1. Started by dhp,

Seems random, but I was looking into Senn IE80s, and came across this: http://www.headphonestore123.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=150 Everything screams it's too good to be true, and the domain name doesn't give me much confidence either, but still. It's cheap. And their prices on the other headphones aren't quite as discounted as these. Anyone want to just tell me straight up it's a scam before I buy these one night in a drunken stupor?

  2. Started by forbigger,

Recently I borrowed HD580 (NOS) from my friend. I hook it up to the meager Glite and Pico DAC. The more I listen to it, the more I prefer it to my KGSS/O2 Mk2+Stello. I have to admit that I'm the stat mafia ever since I left dynamic. I have HF2 which is gathering dust now, I sold my K701 but this is something I absolutely can live with albeit not as great as stats...... Does anyone here thinks that these measly HD580 is up to notch with the big boys ? Or my taste in SQ has taken a step backwards? I mean as of now and switching back between the O2, there's not way of differences there. :palm: Edit : I used to borrow HD650 from the same guy. boring. didn't like it. I…

Up until about 30 minutes ago, I was set on picking up a pair of Denon AH-D2000 (based on head-fi reviews). But after reading 10+ pages of reasons not to get them I am back at square one. I have never purchased a pair of 'high end' headphones and unfortunately, have no means of demoing them. Therefore I am relying on your opinons and experiences to make up my mind. I do not have an amp but am planning to pick up an ibasso boa when I save up enough cash. I currently have about $300 but would like to set aside about $75 to start an 'amp savings'. I will however, dig into that if needed to get a better pair of cans. The only headphones I know are in this range are the…

What do you think the best headphones for the Christmas Holiday season are? I'd say the GS1000.

First of all, hi! First post here. I have been using the HD202 for a while and became more interested in audio, I've been looking into two headphones the DT770 80ohms and the Shure's SRH840, what I've read is that the mids on the DT770 are recessed, so vocals wouldn't be as good as they should, and while some say the SRH840 are awesome and balanced, some say they are overhyped, I really can't choose between them. I've also looked into the HD600 this being more expensive and open, I don't want anyone around me to be able to listen to it, so I must ask compared to the HD202 how is the leakage on those? I listen to POP, Classic, and KPOP. The use for the headphone is…

I'm not in a position to buy these phones at the moment (medical bills are fun!), but the reviews that I've read suggest that they are the phones I've been looking for, and I should be financially whole, and hopefully healthy, in early 2019. Has anybody had a chance to listen to them yet? I'd drive them with my KG-perfected SP Extreme.

I was on the way up to US from Asia and transit at HK and bought airline adapter. As soon as the plane took off I plug the TF10 with the adapter into the airline seat. I leave the TF10 for a while and do some reading. When I'm ready to watch some inflight entertainment, I hold the left IEM and it burned my hand. Apparently the plastic right in between black and blue part melted (in the inside part) and I can faintly smell burning smells When it cold down I tried and have lost the bass responses. There's no bass at all on left channel. I guess the low driver was burned. I dont have any idea if I buy a screwed up airline adapter or its the headphone port thats causing th…

Hi, I currently have a grado rs2i with the little dot 1+. I'm thinking of upgrading the headphones (and the amp if necessary to the little dot mk III). Im looking to spend around 1000

  10. I've owned a lot of different headphones throughout the years, including V-Moda Crossfade LP, Beats Detox, Jays a-Jays Four, Beats Tour, Noontec Zoro HD, Klipsch S4i and so on. I always went by the thought that more expensive is better. And then I bought the MEElectroincs M9P. They have an inline mic, which is nice. Their sound quality is absolutly great, great lows, good mids, great highs. The bass is very accurate, and stays the same even with the volume at maximum. Same thing about the treble. The MEElectroincs M9P looks good ,too. (I get compliments all the time about them) A huge plus about these is that unlike many other in-ear headphones, while wearing thes…

  11. After picking up the superb thinksound On1 monitor on ear headphones recently, I emailed thinksound to mention my general appreciation of the sound quality of these mighty cans. Shortly after the CEO of thinksound Aaron Fournier, sent me a few emails, the latter of which detailed a design weakness in the headband of the On1 monitors. I reported back with no issue as yet to my set but would keep him informed nonetheless. The most recent email I received from thinksound appeared to be a blanket email, signed off by Aaron which is as below: "I just wanted to update you on the replacement part for your thinksound On1 headphone. The part has been tested and approved and i…

"Stop pretending to be a rap star." Leather & metal closed dynamics. Reasonably attractive looking. They have a kickstarter. Higher amounts get you an actual pair of cans. I know one guy in LA who has a set and claims to love them, but he's much more of a gamer than an audio snob.

There is an excellent feature on headphones for use as studio monitors in this month's issue of Sound On Sound. Check it out if you can - it is interesting to hear about the opinions of various engineers using the same headphones that we purchase for the pleasure of listening.

  18. Started by mrarroyo,

I was able to listen to the GMP 435 S thanks to the ongoing loan program in Head Fi. I received the cans on January 8, 2010. This is not my first experience w/ a German Maestro headphone, having previously listened to the GMP 8.300 D. I do not know how many hours of burn-in this unit has; they should have plenty of burn-in since it has gone through several HF members before reaching my hands. Since I have no way of knowing and since I will be able to keep them for two weeks I will start by burning them in for 100 hours or so. For now straight out of the box my initial impressions are: Like: - Very lightweight - Extremely comfortable, plus it easily adjusts w…

  19. A comment in the HD800 thread got me thinking about warranties. . . Excluding earpad replacement how long do the headphones that currently sell for $500+ actually last without needing repair and how easy is it to get these fixed by the manufacturers once they do break ? The warranty policies I could spot with a brief search were Koss Sennheiser AKG that and to contact the dealer first were all I could find from the AKG website about warranty duration. Audio Technica bought within europe = 2 years warranty bought within US/Canada = 1 years warranty .

Is it good? How does it stand against the other big boys? It's the only highend headphone besides the Qualia that I haven't heard yet and I'm very curious about it. I'm thinking of getting either that or the L3000 for a closed headphone with lots of good bass. Thanks, Tao

  23. Okay, so here's the deal: My father has agreed to pay for headphones for me if I find ones I deem suitable. I'm looking for a minimum frequency response of 5 - 35K Hz, Closed, preferably circum-aural. At the moment the only ones that I've come across that look any good are Audio-Technica ATH-A1000, Audio-Technica ATH-A900, and Sony MDRD777SL ... I know that the Beyer DT770's sound good, but my ex who I'm friends with has those and it would be copying, and in the spirit of competition I'd like to see if I can do better than those... I've heard wonderful things about this site being blunt and to the point when it comes to it. Please help me get the best I can get. Th…

  24. Started by Sherwood,

The alcantara pads on my workhorse HD800s are rotten and I'd love to replace them. Over the years I've always been able to buy spare parts directly from Sennheiser, but no distributor seems to carry them for shipping to the U.S. at the moment. I don't want to ruin these by putting aftermarket Beyerdynamic pads or whatever on them, I just want to pay Sennheiser an ugly markup for parts they apparently no longer want to keep in stock. Does anyone have a line on a real supplier for these?

  25. What $24,000 will buy you these days. PS: it’s parent company is Sonoma Acoustics. https://audiophilestyle.com/ca/audio-shows/exclusive-warwick-acoustics-aperio-electrostatic-headphone-system-r792/ https://cdn.computeraudiophile.com/article-images/2019/0416/The-APERIO-from-Warwick-Acoustics.pdf Must not sound too good, as the video is silent.
