Has anyone tried the Grado replacement pads from ebay? The ones that ship from China with the hole in the center.

I am surprised there has not been much of a talk of the Focal Clear headphone here yet. I bought a pair from Justin a few months ago during a promotional sales. It’s an impromptu buy mostly prompted by Tyll’s review and the fact I had just built a SS Dynahi. Don’t ask me why! From browsing the boards it seems that most of the people here are very serious about their gear and are often using it professionally, but I was hoping to get advice on a more day to day use headphone for a moderate user. Ok, so I had a pair of Koss UR-40 headphones and broke them. Now I am in the market for a new pair. I am not a big audiophile but I do like what I am listening to to sound good. I have a larger head (mainly in the width) as well as medium to larger size ears. I like my headphones to completely surround my ears. Anything sitting directly on my ears tends to become uncomfortable after a little while. I am also looking for something lightweight. I don't really want to notice them on my head. my boss would like a good headphone recommendation. He's looking for a good closed 'phone with velour pads. He has a pair of Beyers that he doesn't like as they are too bass heavy. He also has a HD650, but feels they're bass light and needs something that is closed. He also has a pair of AKG that he likes, but they have pleather pads. Hi I somehow have lost my headphones, so here I am trying to find out which to buy.. I've been looking on the market (im from Denmark) and right now it seems like I will choose from Pioneer HDJ-1500, Sennheiser URBANITE on-ear and Sony MDR-1A. My current stock of headphones, in order of preference, is Darth Beyers V2/K501, K24P, PX100, KSC75, UR/40 The stock DBs were just the end-all for me for a while, but I'd been lying to myself; they were compared to HD280s and KSC75s. I figured I could use some "opposite" headphones so grabbed some used K501s, and was really impressed at everything they did besides bass. The stock DBs were definitely way too bass heavy and the highs just... not there. I tried the gel pads and they made them more tolerable (bass tamer, more highs/mids), but something's still weird about it. Piss me off...I notice the sleeving on my Zu (Senn) cable has frayed/detached from the underlying cable (4-pin XLR termination). My own fault as I've been using the HD650-Zu quite actively these days as I've been using headphones a lot lately (with the Leben and LDVI). Is there (a) a simple way to fix this, or ( ghetto wrap it with duct or electrical tape? No, I'm not going to get a replacement, I'm pretty content with the Zu + Senn. If you combined this technology with a custom ear mold, you might get the ultimate IEM. They could go beyond frequency correction if they had a large enough database and good enough drivers.

After getting myself a pair of Jecklin Floats Model I needed to restore these: Before and after: Since I put another cable on them as well (Mogami 2893), I wanted to do a quick and easy test. I pulled the DIY Charlize out of the rack, added the PS1 as the player and hooked the Float up to the speaker out. While I have to say that there was some ground noise, this whole combo really rocks!
