I'm looking to get a pair of closed phones for around $100. I prefer full-sized phones and in terms of importance I'd say sound quality #1, isolation #2 and everything else pretty much irrelevant. Two that have caught my eye so far are the Audio Technica ATH-ES7 and the Equation RP-21. Any other suggestions or thoughts on those two?

Ok, so I had a pair of Koss UR-40 headphones and broke them. Now I am in the market for a new pair. I am not a big audiophile but I do like what I am listening to to sound good. I have a larger head (mainly in the width) as well as medium to larger size ears. I like my headphones to completely surround my ears. Anything sitting directly on my ears tends to become uncomfortable after a little while. I am also looking for something lightweight. I don't really want to notice them on my head. Apologies for the promo-sounding thread title. The product description sounds a bit like a custom EQ to me: http://www.macworld.com/article/3090489/hardware/even-earphones-tune-into-your-ears-to-deliver-the-perfect-sound.html I get the reasoning behind the technology – ultimately, I'd rather have my ears fixed than get earphones tuned to my hearing deficiencies. If you combined this technology with a custom ear mold, you might get the ultimate IEM. They could go beyond frequency correction if they had a large enough database and good enough drivers.

I am surprised there has not been much of a talk of the Focal Clear headphone here yet. I bought a pair from Justin a few months ago during a promotional sales. It’s an impromptu buy mostly prompted by Tyll’s review and the fact I had just built a SS Dynahi. Don’t ask me why! From browsing the boards it seems that most of the people here are very serious about their gear and are often using it professionally, but I was hoping to get advice on a more day to day use headphone for a moderate user. Does anyone know where to purchase a replacement elastic band for the Stax 007? Ideally same brown color. I have a question about how to fit the headphones. The Lambda pros that I have are wired with the wide part of the cup facing the front, while the 500 MK 11 is wired with the wide section facing the rear. Is this correct? Did they change the way the phones fire toward the ear? Donald

my boss would like a good headphone recommendation. He's looking for a good closed 'phone with velour pads. He has a pair of Beyers that he doesn't like as they are too bass heavy. He also has a HD650, but feels they're bass light and needs something that is closed. He also has a pair of AKG that he likes, but they have pleather pads. He'd be open to retrofitting pads to the AKG, as he likes them. I'm a bit out of my element here, so I figured I'd ask around... Piss me off...I notice the sleeving on my Zu (Senn) cable has frayed/detached from the underlying cable (4-pin XLR termination). My own fault as I've been using the HD650-Zu quite actively these days as I've been using headphones a lot lately (with the Leben and LDVI). Is there (a) a simple way to fix this, or ( ghetto wrap it with duct or electrical tape? No, I'm not going to get a replacement, I'm pretty content with the Zu + Senn. My current stock of headphones, in order of preference, is Darth Beyers V2/K501, K24P, PX100, KSC75, UR/40 The stock DBs were just the end-all for me for a while, but I'd been lying to myself; they were compared to HD280s and KSC75s. I figured I could use some "opposite" headphones so grabbed some used K501s, and was really impressed at everything they did besides bass. The stock DBs were definitely way too bass heavy and the highs just... not there. I tried the gel pads and they made them more tolerable (bass tamer, more highs/mids), but something's still weird about it. Well after one to many "nice warnings" about what i want my Dj to do at my place it seems i need to give him a night off to let him know whats up. i have done this dj crap for a few years strait so i am confident in which i can easily do the job, then again we are talking about someone playing off his imac from itunes most of his paid time..
