Grok Headphones in Fullness

  1. Started by Skaliwag,

Im looking at getting a new set of headphones for my father for drumming. He has explained to me in the past that a particular type of headphones were able to adjust left and right ear volume and that helped him distinguish the drums from certain songs. Since good headphones dont seem to have this feature, i thought about using a equalizer or something of that nature. What would i need audio wise to make the drums in a song stand out?

  2. Looking for something that will noticeably outperform my jaba Jabra Elite 45h - Titanium don't want to pay more then 270 dollars. Any suggestions

Well we have all read reviews about the new Beyer?s, namely the DT880?s and the DT990?s so I won?t boar you with more dribble other than to say that I am a Beyer fan and like the new ones even more than the old ones. My review of the DT 990?s would be very positive. What I do want to comment on is my ?re-cableing of the DT 990?s. I used two 10 foot lengths of Mogami pure copper cable (shield and vinal removed) to put two 22ga. leads to each terminal for a total of eight wires used. I did it in a ?Y? configuration and drilled a hole in the other cup as opposed to running a length through the headband. No other mods were done. The end result: The sounds explode four…

  7. Seems like Audio Technica is releasing an update model to their ATH-ANC7 called ATH-ANC7b. Audio Technica said the improvements made to the model include new electronics (not sure if they meant drivers, noise canceling or both), redesigned earcups for better comfort, the battery is easily accessible, and the package now has long and short cables. It should be available by August for the retail price of $220. New ATH-ANC7b QuietPoint headphones

Hi, I'm new to the forum and have a question that may be painfully obvious to all (except me). Can the SR-X Mk 3 be drive by one of Stax's SRM amps, or does it only work through the SRD adapters? Thanks

Can someone give me an idea on what a fair price to ask for SR 007 MK2 Serial SZ3. Sadly my hearing just doesn't do justice to them anymore so want to sell. They are still in mint condition with little use probably 200 hours and with carrying case and documentation. They are about 4-6 years old and have been stored in their box when not in use. I am the second owner and i always have used them on KG's amps. Thanks Guys.

  11. Bonnie has a pair of PX 100s that she loves for the office, but needs more (our at least some) isolation. The other alternative would probably be the Urbanites. But those seen a bit visually imposing.

Hello I am new to this forum and require a repair on my STAX Omegas. The right channel has begun cutting out when I move my head. It is intermittent. It is not amp related as I have tried them with more than one amp. Can anyone recommend someone based in the UK who could do a repair. Many thanks.

  16. Hi everyone, I don't know if there is anyone around here who likes SA5k over the HD650, but if there is, I was wondering if I could get some tips. So basically, I currently own the HD650 and the SA5k. My mom uses the HD650 back at home, and my parents want me to give my SA5k to my cousin as a gift (strange, I know. Don't ask. ). So that leaves me with no headphone at college pretty soon. I've never heard the K701, but I've begun considering it. I personally don't like the HD650's dark signature and the "veil" (ya, I notice it) doesn't work too well with my most of my music. (It works great with classical, but not so great with industrial, rock such as Tool, pop and el…

  17. Started by CD44hi,

I accidentally cut the cable while doing yard work. Before I order a replacement one from UE, are there other alternatives? I have been out of the loop regarding customs. This despite the fact that it is the ear/headphone I use the most. Thanks!

  18. Started by midnightwalker,

I heard that shure had changed the shure se530 cable formula in order to fix cable broken issue. Anyone know information about that? As I read on heafi, Shure changed the formula on June 08, so is it correct?

Stax D-10 amp. Are the lithium ion batteries user replaceable and avaiable for purchase ?

  20. Started by modern,

Hello, my questions are about the sennheiser HD 598's. Firstly, how is the build quality on them and secondly, what is the size of the driver units? The sennheiser HD 598 seems to be becoming cheaper and I think I will grab myself a pair, but I want to know about the build quality first.

  21. Started by TheSloth,

Ok, so I apparently have more spare change than sense and ordered a pair of these. Couldn't resist the curiosity. These aren't really burned in yet (only a few hours on them), but they really are surprisingly good. They look and feel like earbus, and sound something akin to a real pair of headphones. Unlike earbuds they seem to do extended bass. At the moment they sound a bit 'plasticky' and nasal in the midrange (as if you took an open headphone and then covered the backs), and I wonder how they will relax with proper burn-in. They are extremely hard to drive - I find myself using a similar volume setting on my amp to my 650's, which makes them even harder to drive…

  22. Started by Ben Gramain,

I never really was into the wireless Dolby headphones thing. However I find myself wanting something like that for late-night TV watching. (and apparently on the rare occasion that I do follow a series, my program choices are 'so gay'.) What's worth buying these days?

  23. Hey all I listen to all types of rock. Mainly listen to stuff like Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Smashing Pumpkins, Tool, Mars Volta, Porcpine Tree and 90s alt rock. All in FLAC of course. From my research it appears the Shure SE425 would be a good choice I'm in the £50-150 pound bracket. Willing to go more if its REALLY worth it. Looks like I can score some great deals on ebay. The SE 535 are just ridiculously more expensive here in the UK. Not sure if there is anything else I should consider? Or any anyone tell me what I really need in terms of like mid ranges, treble etc? Thanks for your time and any help.

  24. I love to listen to popular jazz, particular to acoustic guitar (Earl Klugh is the man), and classical music (non rock). I have a pocketamp2 headamp which I like, usually I use it with my Grado SR60. I am considering another headphone, AKG, Senneheiser etc. But my budget is <$101. Can someone suggest a model, and perhaps where to get it. HD515 so far seems likely and will have to watch when they go onsale somewhere. gychang

  25. There was a thread on Headfi which had several folks complaining about the screws securing the earcup assembly to the headband coming loose. Seems some disassembly will be required should the need to address those screws arise. Any recablers out there have pics showing the disassembly process? Shoot, I'm no DIY'er but I couldn't get the stupid pads off. Is there some magic trick to getting those babies off without damaging them??
