I have the K701s and i'd read on this forum that there are some with 2 foam pad layers and some with one. I was wondering if there might be any way to tell which one I have without tinkering, using the serial number or something (I don't want to tinker for fear of irreversible damage)

I wish to replace/upgrade my broken, 20yr old Sony MDR-V404 phones. I have always been impressed with their sound. They are the only ones I have used for 20 years. I bought a MDR-ZX-100 for time being and they not close no cigar to the old ones. I am not a professional. I use my phones for making cd'swith my laptop: music/movie/you-tube. I like all types of music ezcept for rap and "new" country. For the most part I like classic -rock/hard rock/heavy metal/blues I have seen the 7506 on sale for about the same as the V6. Hello. I'm new here on the forums, as well as to this audiophile hobby, and want to buy my very first pair of hi-fi headphones. I live in Brazil, and the options here are very scarce. I recently had the opportunity to get the HE-400 new(latest revision, with velour pads) for a fair price, and wanted to know your opinion on them. Has anyone here ever heard them? hi all, i am a new owner of a lambda SR. i found it cheap on craigslist, was not expecting to see one, went and snatched it up for cheap. it looks fairly dirty on the inside and i have been looking at some guides where people describe cleaning lambdas but the process is a bit intimidating... it looks like there is a lot of dirt inside. i wasn't aware dirt was so hard to clean off of them before i bought them, and there are 2 visible specks of dirt on the left driver on the inside. that driver usually buzzes a bit, sometimes not too bad but sometimes a bit louder. when you look down into the driver housings you can see lots of dirt that looks nasty and gross. i am using a …

Time for some impressions of this rare beast. The Icelandic distributor has a set on loan and they carved an entire afternoon out of the schedule for me to try it and do some comparisons. I showed up with the HE90 I built from spare parts, Aristaeus, Carbon amp and a port modded SR-007Mk2. Since they were using the built in dac on the HE-1, I just plugged both amps into as well to equalize the comparison. Over all, I like the build quality of the headphones. Imagine a HD800 built properly and you are pretty much there. The leather earpads are super nice and the headband has nice extension to even fit my large melon. I don't think they are super comfy though …

Since when did Nixon make headphones? link They're probably OEM'd, but then again, I doubt their watches are OEM'd, so maybe not. But then again, their specialty is watches, so of course their watches aren't OEM'd, so it's still possible that everything else they sell (clothes, bags, cufflinks, etc.) is. But I certainly don't recognize them, so if anyone has any theories on the subject -- much less heard them -- please speak up. No, I'm not getting them -- way too expensive to try just for whimsy.

Well I finally have a little spare cash, so I have at long last ordered a set of K-701?s. I had one of the first sets on loan from AKG last fall (To take to the NY meet), and I fell in love with them. I think that they are the bestest headphones made. Soon I?ll think about re-cabling them. I wonder what wire I should use? Now all I have to do is wait until they get here.

I am very curious about the LA7000 from Markl but can't find any reviews of it from our members. Anyone tries it?

One of the rubber earpads came off. If you own a pair of these you know it's impossible to put these back on. Is there a plan B?

Post POST? Wtfruitcake? It was 2007(damn, 2009 already? damn), and I just HAD to get me a K701. Being that God is too great, I got them!!! Being that God is even GREATER THAN THAT, I had the DT 880'250'05 on hands to compare the TWO headphones at the same time...which resulted in the K701 being sold after 220-250(I forget, Sowwy) hours of conventional and pink noise burn-in. Well, WHY did I sell them so soon? Not only did I find the K701's soundstage less natural than the DT 880's(albeit, noticeably bigger than the latter can's soundstage), but the bass heft was seriously missing in the AKG TOTL can. Hey all, Sold my pair of QP 85's to Dusty Chalk and the foam on the earpieces is deteriorating. Anyone on here have any experience with them or any of the other MB Quart float style headphones? Any ideas how to disassemble them or what the foam should be replaced with? Thanks in advance, Jay

Hello People, I'm Shane and I'm new here. I share a pair off AKG K701 headphones with my father, plus they belong to my father. And very good headphones they are!! The Headphone amp we use with the AKGs is a MF X-CAN V2. Is it true, the Heed CanAmp goes very well with the AKG K701? Regards.
