Hi, I'm in the process of fixing up a HE60 I found in very poor condition. I've replaced the pads and headband, and thankfully the plastic housing is in pretty good shape. The cable seems like its the stock cable, but with a very shoddy stax retermination. The previous owner took very poor care of them and listened to them for years with a Woo Audio amp, and unsurprisingly the drivers are on their last legs (intermittent pops and high pitch whining when plugged into an amp). Hey guys, need advice from your infinite wisdom. I recently lost my Shure SE425, therefore I need new earbuds. As good as they were, they lacked bass for me. As a beasshead, Im now looking for earbuds that have extreme bass, don't really mind compromising over quality of the rest of the spectrum (I have an HD650 for audiophile listening). I don't really have a max budget, but if it could remain under 500$, that'd be awesome. Also, I will be driving them with my phone's headphone jack, no portable amp (I just hate addtionnal bulk in my pockets). Thanks in advance. When I heard these were being released I just had to get a set to see if they matched the supreme crap that the original was. Now after some delays I picked the set up from the postoffice. Now these carry a wide variety of names and there is a plethora of models but they are all pretty much the same, hybrid units with an electret driver to cover the top end and a regular dynamic driver for the rest of the spectrum. Well...these arrived this week via the Gilmore express and to make it easier for anybody looking for info on them, a new thread it is. As Kevin documented before, the amplifier is a dinky little thing and a direct clone of the Stax SRM-001. The amp is pretty much useless though as it doesn't have any volume control and you can't use it from a portable device as it needs a full 2Vrms input signal to reach usable volume levels. So I've officially fallen off the wagon again as I got one of these just now. I swore I was done buying headphones but clearly not... So I just put them on my head so listening impressions will come later but first some over all impressions. Now the case...the case is super retarded whoever came up with should be patted on the back for being super "special". So I've had these headphones for a bit and have used them with my laptop for a while, and I notice that in quiet songs especially there'll be crackles and static noises far too often for me to like. I use these while connected to my phone, however, and I have no static issues at all. My previous headphones attached to the laptop didn't have any issues either. Do I just have a defective pair of headphones? And if so, can I do anything about it? (They're refurbished so idk if that matters or not)Rufus MapQuest UpToDate

I'm not in a position to buy these phones at the moment (medical bills are fun!), but the reviews that I've read suggest that they are the phones I've been looking for, and I should be financially whole, and hopefully healthy, in early 2019. I have a somewhat hard of hearing friend who is looking for a replacement headset for his iPhone. He's mostly looking to get better fidelity for speaking in the ear buds and microphone and will spend up to $100. On my commute, I have been using Apple Earbuds, which seem to leak a bit of sound. I just got my MrSpeakers Aeon headphones yesterday. I ordered them with an XLR termination on the cable terminated assuming this meant I could use them with the balanced/XLR output on the GS-X. Then I opened the box and saw it said the headphone was a “single-ended planar magnetic headphone.” I’m confused. Is it fine to use with a balanced output? Is there any benefit? I can order the cable with a SE termination which would be better for portable use anyway.
