Their new album A Dramatic Turn of Events, with Mangini drumming, sounded real good to me. I feel that Andy Wallace did a good job mixing, because everything shines through the mix! Another favourite track of mine is The Count of Tuscany.Being an aspiring guitarist, it's always a pleasure to listen to Petrucci's fluid solos. What are some of your favourite tracks?

Killing Joke - They get better and better with time, like a fine wine or cheese. The White Stripes - Hyped as all hell yes, but simple composition is an art, imho. I disliked them at first too. Primus - what's not to love?

Following a discussion in another thread I was wondering if some of you were using the WEB to buy used CDs. One nice example from where I live: Musique du faubourg - Accueil I'm often too busy (read lazy) to go and spend time looking for CDs on location.... Has anyone got any CDs from here and if so are they worth getting due to compression issues? http://www.mosaiccontemporary.com/recommend.asp They have some great artist so this may be a good source for some music for me it they do a good job. I have purchased to many CDs lately that are poor sounding.

Astor Piazzolla - Tango: Zero Hour Rarely does music move me to tears, but "Concierto Para Quinteto" may be the most beautiful thing I've ever heard. Astor Piazzolla was the most important composer of the style of music referred to as tango nuevo, literally "new tango." His specific brand of tango nuevo could be described as tango in form, but heavily influenced by classical and jazz in its use of harmony and counterpoint. I don't know anything about the tango, but now I want to learn more. If anyone here at HC is well-versed in tango & tango nuevo, I'd appreciate any recommendations. So I am getting ready to delve back into SACD after a fairly long hiatus. I have the Diana Krall discs, Dire Straits, Alice in Chains, maybe Jacintha too..... Any new or must have SACDs out there in the past couple of years??

I happen to like music that can be broadly categorized as "shoegazing" and "noise-pop." A new double LP with amazing organ drone from drone masters sunn. I've heard the entire album via a stream and it is absolutely amazing- IMO their best work since Black One; better than all the side projects and one offs they've released, this one is black as hell! I'm listening to a 24/96 needle drop of Black Sabbath's Paranoid. Exceptional drop from the first pressing of the USA vinyl. Comparing it to my retail CD (which is also an early pressing really good quality) and the difference is great.
