What's the best way to rip audio tracks from a DVD? Windows, Linux, Mac? The bonus tracks from my Depeche Mode DVD's are a pain since they're region ...whatever Europe is, but I'd like to have access to them, since some of my favorite tracks are there.

I've always been a loyal Firefox fan, but I've decided to give Safari 4 Beta a chance because it's supposed to be super-fast and better integrated in OS X than Firefox. So far, it looks great and I notice a slight improvement in speed, but there's one thing that's bothering me quite a bit: is it possible to activate autoscrolling (or drag scrolling) like in Firefox? By drag scrolling, I mean clicking the middle button on the mouse and just dragging the mouse around to scroll. That's one essential option for me. Thanks!

I had been using a CSS for ad blocking, but the one I've been using kills non-advertisement as well on occasions (like smileys on this site) so I stopped using it. Any other options for good ad blocking on Safari, or should I just suck it up and hope the new Safari will do a better job of it?

I bought an external hard drive with an eSATA port and am thinking about getting an eSATA pci card. I've skimmed infformation about eSATA and I keep reading about how you need a motherboard that supports it. Are they just talking about integrated eSATA on the motherboard or will I not be able to even use a PCI card on a noncompatable motherboard?

I would like to install Windows on an external hard drive and run via boot camp on my iMac so that Yumi can run Autocad Architecture on it (her computer is dying). I assume that thunderbolt is fast enough that I won't see any difference between running it on an external drive vs my main HD. Is that true? Hi all, I have recently been optimizing my laptop for better performance. At the onset, I reinstalled Windows (Vista Business 32bit) sans bloatware using two partitions, planning to put the OS and programs on the C:/ partition and all data on the D:/ partition. I noticed that I only had the option for giving the C:/ partition 60% of my 160GB drive. I figured this must have been necessary, but this turned out to be far from the case. The partition is not even half full, and I don't plan to install too many new programs in the future, maybe 5-10GB more at the most, so I don't need 40GB of free space. I think I've lost the driver CD for my M-Audio Transit USB The M-Audio website only allows you to download driver updates and not the driver suite itself. Would anyone that has the driver CD mind making a CD image for me and uploading it? Nero, CloneCD, Alcohol 120%, etc should all be able to do that.

So I'm using my MacBook's miniToslink port to connect to my DAC. I've been using this set up for two days now. But today, all of a sudden, I would get random noises--it's not clipping--just digital noise, which goes away in five seconds or so. The noise shows up randomly. FYI: I'm using Play as my player, and I set the output to 16/44.1 in AudioMidi utility.

I'm contemplating an update for my PC. A new quad core/mobo/video card would comprise most of the updating, but new HDs and two new Blu-ray burners might be in the scope. With spotlight used to access files, I rarely have to launch finder nowadays. This way, I can have all my stuff on the desktop cluttered as can be, but will always be invisible till I need to find stuff. The rest of the time- Clean & Pretty & unclickable desktop!

I am looking for a small, relatively inexpensive, VPN router box for a small office. Does anyone have a suggestion of where to look? Budget is a few hundred dollars -- more than a cheapo consumer model, less than an enterprise level box. My dad is in need for a simple back-up solution and a wireless base station. I only found the time capsule as an all-in-one solution. Is really Apple the only producer of such a box? He uses windows (on a Thinkpad (r -series?)), anyone knows if the time capsule will work properly as both a wireless switch and a backup solution?

I reinstalled Chrome (because it was acting up, and nothing short of deleting it entirely was making it better), and can't seem to find my script blocker. I thought it was called NoScript...tried uMatrix, but that doesn't seem to remember my whitelist. Am I using it wrong? Is there a better one? Where is noScript? Any better recommendations? I should also probably add something similar to my Firefox -- any recommendations? I'm still using The Great Suspender in Chrome -- that's still a godsend. Anything similar in Firefox?

Not cheap, but looks quite nice as a pure storage solution. I have a couple of their single external enclosures and they've been very reliable. I wonder if they'd sell it unbundled if one asked very, very politely?

Well it has taken me almost 5 days to upgrade my EeePC disk from the 80Gb stock issue to a 320Gb drive. The main problem is that most of the disk cloning software just absolutely sucks and failed in one way or another when I tried to use it. However xxClone came through, worked superbly and was extremely easy to use. I now have 268Gb for music/data, WooHoo.
