2 hour talk after work today. Not a completely linear discussion, but it went very, very well. I think he had actually been waiting for me to announce my intentions for more work. Nothing official yet but I don't see any other outcome other than this. With my degree being in graphic design, it makes sense for me to absorb all ads and design work. I already do our publishing, so having 1 person do the ads, the publishing and web makes a lot of sense. Less cooks in the kitchen and no one to slow me down. My obsessive traits pay off here. And nobody knows what I do for the web so I'm pretty much positive I've locked that down and will be making it a stand-alone department, previously being under marketing. (Marketing person is leaving) this will be way more efficient if I call the shots for everything digital. didnt talk titles or pay; I've never done that. Work ethic always takes care of that, but I'd be amazed if base pay doesn't go up substantially. He's not an idiot. tl;dr more bitcoins.9 points

Thanks all for the advice but I've decided on the ST even if the RS is a superior car. If I really start making cars a "hobby" then I can justify paying $25+k more when I replace it in a few years but right now that's not guaranteed. Also we have a 10 year anniversary coming up next year and I want a nice watch and the ability to buy my wife one too. (Also add a 2nd bathroom to the lake house) I took the ST out over the weekend and had a good time. Nothing about it drove me nuts. Though the backseat room is an issue but I don't expect to keep it long enough for that to be an issue. Panty-waist here. Hopefully I can re-earn what little cred I had here through other feats of purchasing in the near future in the watches thread. I also received separate legal counsel from my in-house counsel. Does that mean I will not be perma-banned? I think the 2016 ST is quite a looker too: The ST also has the advantage that it's a known quantity in both SCCA Rallycross and Autocross and is competitive in both classes. In closing while I am compromising which isn't allowed here I hope you all can forgive me.4 points

I would be glad to buy you both a Giordano's if you come out to Chicago in April.4 points

My legal opinion is that the ST pictured above is better looking than the aforementioned RS. I don't think the Panty-Waist should be banned for that purchase. Congrat on the new car!3 points

Beautiful, Doug. [edit]Evidently I like this DAC so much I forgot I'd replied already. But I do dig the new business model.3 points

Back in Chicago so back at my favorite health food place. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk3 points

If you get it before I leave we should do the Sunday South Riding C&C as that place is packed with Focus and Fiesta STs.2 points

Third eye blind. I love this more now than I did in high school. Probably my favorite 90s album, currently. Every single song is good.2 points

This is my home set up. Definitely not too heavy. I have a turntable and a heavy wood platform that Steve made for me years ago. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk2 points

No but I did bring most of the pizza back to my hotel so I will check for a fax in the business center. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

There is nothing wrong with rewarding yourself for working hard. Especially when you've already been so responsible.2 points

I actually had that conversation with her earlier today. I explained that at a given speed the RS is a safer car and as long as that speed isn't crazy (which I have no plans to do). Also that our kids aren't even 5 and we have in state College paid for we may deserve a few splurges.... Now it's down to me.2 points

^ I think you have someone local that would enjoy polishing some wood and playing with nuts and rods for you.2 points
-
$2200 + market rate for wood more exotic that what I can get at the local wood store. Things are available basically whenever - I decided that there was no way to compete with the Schiits of the world and I never really made enough of anything to benefit from economies of scale, so everything is bespoke. Depending upon complexity and how busy things are, that usually means 6 to 8 weeks.2 points

If it's time to spring ahead, it's time for SXSW. I'm getting an early start at listening to the featured bands on their YouTube channel.1 point

They re-released this on vinyl last year. It's like, stupidly expensive, but yeah, it was one of the defining albums of my teenage years. I should just go ahead and buy it to put with all the other unopened vinyl I have. **BRENT** Edit: NP:1 point

Coming in from somewhere in Maryland and should be here tomorrow or Saturday. I would love to be able to drive it to work on Monday.....1 point

Totally agree. Can still remember the first time I heard "Semi-Charmed Life" -- was on an airplane on the in-flight entertainment channel and I listened through the whole loop just to catch it over again, something I'd never done before (or have done since).1 point

That aesthetic is gorgeous! Would be nice to have an amp/power supply/DAC/pre system, all in a matching aesthetic.1 point

Well that's not my actual car but that is the configuration I am getting. I am excited about seeing her in the flesh soon. Calling the dealer in a few to see how long it will take him to get me one but should be fast.1 point

I'm writing some arduino based code that supports the original boards as well as the new generation. I also have code for a small oled display as well. I'd like to like at some raspberry pi based code as well which would give some nice interface options including Bluetooth on the pi 3. I'm traveling (Birmingham, UK) at the moment but could post the current rev of the code I have once I get back.1 point

This does play into the EU regs for using tubes as they must be fully enclosed. Well than there is the wank factor which this product is full of.1 point

Indeed, you are correct. I am not a white car guy, but damn that's nice. ...is what I meant to say.1 point

The beard is wise. I'm pretty sure it's a perma-ban if you disregard legal counsel, so there's that. **BRENT**1 point

This should be our new tagline. Damn, that's nice. I'm not a white car, but...but damn, that's nice.1 point

Chris, Speed is regulated by your right foot and there's no appreciable difference between the RS and ST their ability to rapidly proceed beyond the posted limit if that's what your foot tells it to do. I'd argue the RS might be the safer choice, actually, since the AWD will be far more able to put power down (feeding via 4 wheels) than the ST. That's the talk that I'd have with her if it were me.1 point
