So here's a progress update on my T2 mini build. I started off with the a golden reference version of the T2 supply. Had a couple of issues. There was some 60Hz noise I was hearing (I'm guessing from the integration of the negative rail supplies), which I can probably solve for. Also, the current limiting, which works, wasn't fast enough when there was a shorting issue with the amp on the negative rail (FETs in the output section shorted to the heat sinks). It would pretty much blow out several components in the supply. I decided to go back to the original design, but as a shrunken version (206mm x 200mm). I did some small mods (added cascaded current source for the 30V supply to the opamp and added some additional spots for compensation caps. I finished this over the weekend and have spent some time listening. I've still got to tweak the PS (some small oscillations - probably because I was experimenting with the .1uF cap to the negative input of the op amp and added a .1uF cap across the voltage divider). My BK multi-meter is showing between 1mV and 0 on the AC setting. I've had some of the supplies on the scope but will need to go through all of them. This causes some very faint background noise. The amp has had it's fair share of issues, primarily with the output FETs shorting to the heat sink. I've had this once on the left channel and three times on the right. I believe it was that some thermal compound found it's way inside the collar of the thermal washers (7721-3PPS). I've cleaned these up and have had the amp on for 12 hours now with no issues. Also, the right channel DC test points are all pretty much spot on, but the left channel has an issue with the -543V test point. It is sitting at -502V (the rest of the DC test points are pretty close except for the top of the batteries that sit at +238V). I've been looking at this issue for a while, but haven't figured it out yet. I've got to focus here a bit. Any thoughts would be appreciated. I also have to finesse the battery adjustments to get rid of some occasional noise coming through the right channel as well. I have had my 404's and then later O2's on this beast. Wow, how nice It's been too long...12 points

Well that's because HF hasn't had any serious Stax discussion for years. I actually checked out the Stax thread over there this morning (replying to PM's is the only reason to go there) and seeing the discussion about diaphragm thickness just cracked me up. All of that info is in the old threads or stuck in the heads of us the old timers. As one of the mafia members said, "we've forgotten more about Stax than those fools will ever know". He isn't far off..3 points

Got a late start to riding this year. Had time, weather crappy. No time, weather beautiful. Typical Spring in Michigan. Finally got out for the first ride of the season, albeit just commuting. This is going to be fun this year. I am much more agile on the bike now that I've lost a few pounds. Rather than sit and ride, I should be able to ride and drive. Rather than steer into corners I'm flicking into and out of them.2 points

I love Glen Campbell's guitar work on Pet Sounds. It took many years for the album to garner the acclaim it truly deserves.2 points

Drove a RHD car for the first time. If you are anywhere in the uk, might I suggest staying indoors for the next few days? Preferably places with thick walls. Or maybe visit some out of country relatives. Or strangers. Or anyone. That was terrifying. Especially when my phone wouldn't get signal, and I did a tour of all the small towns around heathrow. At rush hour.2 points

Has anyone tried these out? I think I'm going to order a pair, expensive though! Claims more refined highs and tighter bass. Hopefully they don't crumble in 2 years like other grado pads heh. http://www.ttvjaudio.com/TTVJ_Deluxe_Flat_Pads_p/ttvj000999.htm Biggie.1 point

Chris, GStock, right? Unless they changed something, you can run R-Comps in stock class. I remember beating up on Civic SIs with my e30 in G Stock. Loved that class. **BRENT**1 point

Get the current production 007A, it is the best 007 I have heard, really close to the MK1. The MK1 is now too old IMO to make a sensible purchase as a main phone.1 point

Sharks and Warriors have playoff games and the Giants are playing Arizona all at the same time. Sharks have me most excited at the moment, even if I don't have much faith in their ability to get very far even if they beat the Kings. Pretty amazing time to be a Bay Area sports fan, though...1 point

So Xavier has been interested in clip less pedals after seeing everyone else on them, including a kid a little older and a bit slower than him ride them. A shop guy riding sweeper was telling me that he looked super comfortable on his bike, and recommended I think clipless for him at some point. I have some M530 (SLX level mountain pedals with cage) SPD pedals he can use, so we went by the shop that gave him the free post-crash tuneup (which included truing the wheel) and looked for shoes. We wound up finding a women's road shoe that fit sizing wise, but no MTB shoes in his size. We checked the computer and found some 2014 Rime shoes, originally 180$, on sale for 19$. We went ahead and got his current size and the next size up. He's super excited. **BRENT**1 point

Allison and her dad were listening to stupid XM's stupid '60's on 6' channel over the weekend and it corrupted me to start this week. The Beach Boys - Pet Sounds 40th Anniversary... I don't know if it's blasphemy to listen to this in stereo but it does sound purty good1 point

Last night I dreamed I attended a travel team event and we all visited a specialist whisky store, where I became overly refreshed. Next morning, I found that you fuckers had taken me to a tattooist, who photo-realistically reproduced the facade of the store on the palm of my left hand. Everybody seemed to agree that this would be a brilliant memento. Then we went to get poutine.1 point

So there was a bar doing a promotion with Dogfish Head for Record Store Day; they're doing a pre-party, and another place pretty close to me is doing a big party all day tomorrow. The place tonight was doing a "bring your own vinyl" thing. Well, one dude brought stuff, and he brought like, 2-3 albums. I brought maybe 30-40 that I thought may have a song or two, or be interesting to someone. I started pulling out stuff like Dangermouse - The Gray Album and Linkin Park & Jay-Z - Collision Course and the bartenders went a little nuts. I brought out the 20th anniversary of Fugees - The Score and they dug it hard. I pulled out Rocky Horror and I had two people come up and ask me if I'd sell it, then many a fist-bump over some Ghostbusters them song Dub remix. Turns out all the bartenders had seen Flaming Lips live, so they lost it over the autographed "With A Little Help From My Fwends" album. I walked out of there having DJed for 4 hours (1 was just for staff and their friends while they cleaned the place) and having quite a few conversations and got a couple business cards. I ALMOST didn't go out, but pretty glad I did. That was a fun night; it's so rare that I get to share music with others. I've been invited back with control of their house music system. How bad is it that I want to bring in some vintage speakers that I have access to for free and revamping the soundsystem to sound good while the bar is full? **BRENT**1 point
