  1. I worked on Eleanor's 31st birthday present today. It's a beefy garden shed made almost entirely of reclaimed materials, and I think I'll get the roof finished tomorrow. She'll be 35 this year, so it's about time I wrapped it up.

  4. About 30 mintues ago, I just high fived Paul McCartney. He looked at my George Harrison t-shirt as he walked by and said cool... I've been wanting to meet him since I've been about seven or eight years old. BTW, his hands are girly soft. https://www.facebook.com/mr.russomanno/posts/1325374807478189?notif_t=like&notif_id=1462055330460450

  5. I usually get up before my wife in the mornings. Go into the bedroom today, she's up and looking a bit down..... "Morning....what's the matter?" "...my toilet's clogged, the wi-fi is down, and even cellular data doesn't work...." Maslow's updated hierarchy rings true....

  7. That is awesomer than my anecdote for the night. Went to see Amanda McBroom http://amcbroom.com/ this evening in London. Been listening to her music for decades. I went and said hello afterwards and got a cuddle. Seventh heaven! But McCartney - wow!

  8. Thursday Lance fenced the former Russian Federation women's foil team member, and European Champion. Yesterday Lance fenced the University of California, Santa Barbara open foil tournament. The tournament consisted mostly of college students and adult fencers yet Lance took first place/gold medal. It was a good day.

  9. Test fitting of the motor, with midplate and integrated K-member / turbo piping (including oiling) goes in and out of the vehicle to tweak things. To say some assembly required would be an understatement...in the end it was obvious the headers that kick it all off were....well, off. That resulted in the geometry getting all squirrelly the further back the plumbing went. Not exactly lined up...lol Some shots of the turbo plumbing installed going in and out of the car. It really is a clean setup, once the fitment issues were addressed, and soooo much cleaner than what I had previously. Here is an example of the frame being notched and boxed out very nicely to avoid clipping one of the ears off a turbo Huge front rollbar in the way so custom endlinks, a bit of rotating it and then removing some material required integrated oiling box won't clear the rollbar so change things up HS

  10. Added a second table (VPI scout 1.1) and a mono cartridge (ortofon quintet mono) I'm running it through my back up phonostage until I can pick up another BAT phono used. WOW, listening to a japenese blue note of Lee Morgan "Candy". Soundstage depth is incredible. There is a sharpness/cleaness to the record I have never heard. This is one of the better investments involving listening to records I've made. Now to clear a separate shelf for monos only.

  16. As a Laker fan, I totally agree. These last few years with Kobe getting paid ridiculous amounts as a send-off have partially ruined the franchise, though the FO has made plenty of other mistakes as well and then there's the whole Chris Paul veto thing. His last 60 point game was one for the ages, though. I am very glad they finally fired Byron "Tank God" Scott, took them long enough. Hopefully they will pick wisely in the draft and Luke Walton will turn things around. The losing mentality and complete lack of defense is ingrained in the players right now so it will take some effort. As to your second point, I also agree, but I think it's also because stars are now teaming up to form Big Threes and whatever you want to call them. It's only going to get worse with the huge salary cap bumps in the next couple of years from TV deals/ads on jerseys. The players simply make so much that they don't mind getting paid a few million less to try and go for the ultimate goal of a ring. There's so much disparity between the top 4 or 5 teams and the rest of the league, with GSW and the Spurs clearly dominating every other team. Yesterday's Spurs/OKC game was just embarrassing... I stopped watching at the end of the half.

  18. I was responding to someone on facebook, and was looking in the stickers for one of my most frequently used responses, 'pfft'. When I searched on 'pfft', the first thing that came up is this: So I chose that. The person to whom I was responding completely ignored the raspberry and questioned reality. "What on earth is that abomination?" "I don't know, but it's giving you the raspberry, spelled 'Pfft'. I think it's a hamcat." After which -- after, mind you, it just seemed self-evident to me that having characteristics of both a ham and a cat, that it would of the species of hamcat -- I searched on hamcat, and, indeed, it turned out to be one. While I was searching, the other person stated, "Oh a hamcat...how silly of me I should have known." To which I responded with my now favourite sticker comment of all time: ...at which point, the conversation devolved into conjecture as to what a hamcat would shit.

  26. Before the rebuild I was running twin turbos that made real power, but with challenges. I use twin Precision 6766 turbos with the dual ceramic ball bearing rotating system. I had to use smaller housings than ideal for fitment as they sit under the car (didn't have the heart to gut all the creature comforts like AC, power steering, ABS braking, etc... to place them in the engine compartment). Believe it or not my car is still very streetable thanks to the boost controller. Additionally, I needed 3" piping to make them work well. 3" piping running under the car and to the air to air heat exchanger is something to see...big as hell and made for fitment issues as well and bending things here and compromising things there. I had some fluid leaks as a result (e.g. pressure side of power steering hoses "massaged"). This also resulted in somewhat "leaky" turbo system due to some bending of the cold side plumbing (think pipes headed to the heat exchanger after the turbos have converted the exhaust to the pressurized air). On top of that there is the oiling system for the turbos. Changing engine oil was a serious PITA due to all the plumbing...2-3 hour ordeal. This will give some context of how much plumbing....before they were powdercoated black Anyhoo, these are the snails which I still run in the new setup... They make stupid power and the power delivery can be very deceptive, unlike my prior positive displacement supercharger which was like a light switch...on or off. No middle. 46mm wastegates [ and 50mm TiAL blowoff valves Air to air heat exchanger The new turbo system is a major leap forward for me. Same elements as above, but much of the plumbing is now integrated into my K-frame, including the oiling. HS

  28. Yup, now that the whole Kobe thing is finally over... I mean he was great and all, and his final game was amazing, but what a circus it has now become in professional sports with these season-long sendoffs. First, it was Kareem, and that was fun, but unfortunately (in many ways, although it's good fun in other ways) that started a trend that will never end. Mariano Rivera, Derek Jeter, even Paul Konerko with the White Sox. All franchise guys, so the local fans love it, but do we really need people selling bags of air from Kobe's final night at the Staples Center on eBay? Plus, it was about $5k per ticket, on average, for "normal" seats. Dunno. Just seems unnecessary. I like the Peyton Manning approach. Play your last game, and then a week later, say, "Ya, I guess that was it..." NBA Playoffs? I thought that didn't really matter until June? As with hockey, allowing 16 out of 30 teams into the playoffs is kind of silly. Honestly think that 8 would be much better, but then on the flip side, even more teams would then tank (and much sooner in the season) for draft positioning.
