  1. I'm alive! Don't worry about me, I'm safe and dry and my dog Suzy is by my side. The rest is all solvable. Made it down to check damage. My RV is in pieces, but that's just stuff. I think my scooter is OK, and my wormdrive saw is OK. I'll need both as the destruction was massive. Many people far worse off than I. And lots of work ahead. I've had several offers from the best people on Earth (Head-Casers), to put me up and I love you guys! I'll take some time to decide my next move, but have options. I should qualify for a FEMA trailer, and may do that. I might decide that Texas doesn't want me around anymore, and try a new start. Too soon to know yet. Either way, my spirit is intact. A true Alaskan can never be beaten by Texas! What is most important to me are my Mom and my Suzy, so things are good. Suzy is a bit freaked but otherwise fine. As long as I have them and my HC family, I can make it through anything. I'm learning to use my cell phone for Head-Case, so bare with me.

  5. Sorry Shelly, head case seems to lack an "Eclipse viewing glasses required" tag. Maybe I should spoiler tag it for all concerned.

  7. It's under a salad spinner -- was probably about three inches long. I almost stepped on the bugger while stumbling to the kitchen for my morning coffee. Woke me up fast anyway. Later, went for a kayak on San Rafael Bay with the kids. As we were coming back into the creek, we passed a scraggly and -- as far as I could see -- naked dude furiously paddling a kids' inflatable boat backwards against the current. As one does.

  16. Indeed. But other use cases exist. What about watching youtube on another non browser based device (think phone, tablet, smart tv, Apple TV, Nvidia shield, visiting someone without unlock installed, etc)?, or where casting is not an option.

  18. If it's not on any of the usual suspects for streaming, then yeah DVD is the best bet. Just get the TV series though, the OVA sequel isn't nearly as good, from what I recall. Edit: It looks like the full series and OVA are officially on youtube for free from the american publisher, so no need to get the DVD necessarily.

  27. So finally done with soccer tournament weekend one. Tired as fuck. Two games yesterday at 3:30 and 8:15. Got home about 11 and finally got all cleanup and laundry done by about 2:00 am. Up at 6:15 for a 8:50 am and 2:00 pm game today. Much better results this year compared to last as they ended up 3-1. Most of that is due to their new coach, Michael Caine. He is a Brit but I do not hold that against him. I actually like him a lot because we both seem to enjoy a nice bevy every now and again.

  35. Steve is fine but the news is bad. He had no computer right now and sketchy cell service but his words are better than mine: Update: Was able to get back to check status. My RV is torn up beyond repair. Total devastation around me. I'll have to decide my next move. Overwhelmed ATM but I'm OK and Suzy is OK. My Mom's motorhome is intact. Time for me to make some hard decisions. No insurance on my old motorhome, as it had no real monetary value. I'll check in again soon. It's like a nuke was dropped all around. Massive destruction. I hope Shelly is dry and safe, and I'm driving back to SF from LA now but will check in again soon.
