Today’s Tacocat update: She stopped hiding after about 24 hours and is very affectionate. She spends each time I come in her room (keeping them separated for now) unable to decide which she wants more, food or cuddling. She already lets me rub her belly!5 points

Your best bet may be to hire Wilco to follow her around.3 points

I got bored today and decided not to wait for Milo. Just a down and dirty TT stand. The bottom shelf is morticed into the legs, then attached with trim screws that I covered with plugs (plugs still need to be cut flush and sanded). It should hold enough records, as I plan to limit myself this time around. I have a Cherry slab (cutting board) that the TT actually sets on. The Cherry slab will sit on top of this stand with my Hudson HiFi Bigfoot silicone isolation feet between the two surfaces. I plan to Ebonize the stand, then finish with Arm-R-Seal (much to Doug's dismay).3 points

This is exactly why I started my new business... T.I.C.E. Terminating Incompatible Contemporary Equipment. All you need to do is package up that pesky, unused gear, and ship it to me for proper disposal. We are a zero landfill disposal business, so you need feel no guilt whatsoever.3 points

I would not touch the transistors unless they are damaged ...2 points

I'm hoping the next M&O joint is a turntable stand, with record storage underneath. I haven't discussed this with Milo yet.2 points

Apple Music can download tracks (from Cloud, don't need to connect to computer). Tidal can download. Qobuz can download. All services though.1 point

If she has an iCloud account, she could upload the .mp3 files to iCloud Drive. Then, if she is also logged into iCloud on her iPhone, she should be able to open the files using Files on her iPhone. Alternatively, I think you can still import those music files into the Music app on a Mac computer (still iTunes on a PC), then sync with the iPhone over USB or wi-fi.1 point

For 2-channel stereo. I have studio monitors that I'm happy enough with, but I've never had a good stereo setup. We keep spending all our money on live music events, so now that that's dead I might as well get something good for recordings.1 point

Someone either fast reverse or fast forward. RIP Johnny Nash. Incidentally if you do a US patent search for van halen, he has umpteen granted patents on all things guitar; hum bucker pickups, tremolo effects, guitar design etc etc.1 point

Calm down Jeff, not all of us have enough money to have people move our speakers for us.1 point

Wait, you don't have six pairs of in-wall speakers to switch between? Can you ever call yourself an audio snob?1 point

I find myself increasingly enjoying the fiddling. It takes me back to a lost time. I'm even getting back into vinyl, partly because of the fussy nature. I like the preparation before listening. It makes it more of an event. Background music has its place, but I find myself wanting to let the music take me somewhere, not unlike when I was a teenager and would get lost in music, and the hobby of audio. I would spend a lot of time fiddling with my gear, taping sessions and so on. My friends would bring over albums and we'd spend hours listening and recording them. They learned that if they bought the album for me to keep, I'd make them a better cassette tape of it than they could buy. Music has always pulled me through life. It took me to a better place, or helped me grieve some of the things I felt I couldn't control. It kept me company before I learned how to be a social being. I guess it's an old friend.1 point

These are my subjective impressions. My chain Mac Book pro - > Denafrips Ares II - > KGsshv dual outputs (both L700 OG and L700 Mk II connected) L700 Mk II have tighter bass the reason could be due to angled metal forks giving it tab better clamping force and the may be the new cable might have something to do with it as well. L700 MK II is sharper and little more efficient than the L700 OG. Little better detail retrieval as well (I could be wrong as well). Hope this helps.1 point

https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/police-ukraine-investigate-death-us-embassy-employee-73358211 Wife of a colleague in neighboring Ukraine passed away, today. Authorities are simultaneously investigating murder and accidental death due to a collision with a train. Either is heartbreaking. State is a big organization, and anytime someone connected to the embassy dies it makes the news. I did not know the woman who passed or her family, but she had four children. Terrible news.0 points

Not a celebrity, but a great guy and unique character. I worked with Dan B for 3-4 years, he was a Project Manager in IT. Bright, outgoing, almost always a positive attitude but had a sarcasm streak a mile wide in smaller/more comfortable groups. I often use the Dr. Evil saying "How about NO, you crazy Dutch bastard) in reply to someone asking for something they won't get....that practice started with Dan when he embarrassingly asked me (on behalf of the business users) if we could change what we just worked on for almost 6 months so they could do it another way. I showed him that video clip, and we had a great laugh.... A bunch of us from that company (the survivors as we call ourselves) keep in touch via regular gatherings and now Zoom calls. Dan would always gently bow out (he was farther away, and often very busy). The first picture below is from a long-term friend, and the later one is more how I knew him. Not sure of cause yet....but still too young!! RIP Dan, another one of the good guys gone....0 points
