Played my first round of golf after quitting 39 years ago. Had a great time!

So, I ordered a pair.

I'm boycotting Newegg over their absurd and predatory behavior since hardware, GPUs in particular, became scarce. I would recommend others not to shop with them if possible.

I do need a better DAC after I sold Doug my AA DAC, this Schitt one is alright but honestly not really doing it for me. $400 is a bit much.. Maybe. Maybe not.

I need to try out Qobuz too.....Tidal hasn't been bad for me, and there's SW that let's you rip for offline use. But the MQA thing does bug me....thankfully most of the music I've been streaming isn't MQA.

Just cancelled my Tidal subscription since it looks like there is almost no difference in the music I care about between Tidal and Qobuz anymore.

Thank you. I don't think there was ever a strong reason to get the HD8XX when I already had the HD800 (with old man's ears mod), but between what you said and Tyll's 2017 review, just cancelled and Headphones order in.

I think Dekoni makes pads for Focal cans right? They could be a viable alternative. The Utopia pads last quite a bit longer than the HD800's that need replacing every 2 years or so.

yeah, I started out with their ORTF mic, the mstc44, then several changes later had a film sound setup (vms02 preamp with mk21h and mk8, and an apogee ad500). I got busted with that setup once stealth, and the guy who busted me was confused how I snuck it all into the club

You'd be hard pressed to find an interface that isn't amazing for the price these days. I've used MOTU and Focusrite Red gear and they're both great. The differences will be in the features but that could make a big difference for your applications. IMHO, it's worth asking a sales guy at Sweetwater their thoughts on what you're planning to do. Matching the built in mic preamp with the mics you're likely to use (there may be deals on mic/interface combos too). You should mention which keyboard you plan to use. Ask about EDU discounts!!!! Eligibility differs from company to company but a sales guy will be able to steer you. When I was taking classes in Calif., it was worth it to pay for one online course for the EDU discounts I got on software/hardware. IIRC, one year I saved over $2k and I also got a tax break at the end of the year!
