One of my best friends (Steve) came over from Cornwall England around 1978 or 1979, and with him brought The Jam's music to me and our mutual friends. Got to see them in 1980, great show; it was broadcast on a local radio station, and it included said Brit friend being recorded for a post-concert interview as we left the venue! Other great story is in 1977: for my Bar-Mitzvah party the DJ was playing pretty much disco, but everyone who attended got a promotional single by this group we had never heard of called The Jam. A promo copy of their first single, In The City, but with a stereo/mono version for side A/B. Steve pretty much flipped when he saw this, and we called a bunch of folks trying to find copies for him. I still have my copy....2 points

I don’t know what I’ll be doing, but I gotta get up early in the morning and you can bet I’ll make coffee. It’s not a Decent, but I have decided that my worthless dining room table can maybe be something else. Anybody who wants to come over can have a shot: I can pull a few in a row. Assume I have a kettle. Everything will be covered in cat hair by the morning2 points

Well, I passed the aneurysm screening. It is just a one-off; allegedly if you don't have one at 65 the chances are slim that it will be a problem later. My grandmother died from one - but she was nearly 90. Way back in 1986. The other thing I've been getting hot under the collar about is the UK ban on halogen lamps. Our entire house is now LED, other than in my workshop where all four lamps I installed are halogen. Now only one has failed so far. But halogens are ~UKP1 and the LED version is UKP5. So I've just stocked up with halogens before they become illegal. The thing that riles me though is the UK government is selling this on the green agenda, saying it will save 1.26 million tons of greenhouse gases. Per capita that is 0.018 tons of CO2 per person per year. Put that against the 6.8 tons per capita in the UK, and the halogen ban will reduce our carbon footprint by a mere 0.26%. But it misses the point that halogen lamps are a mature technology, and can be made for very low cost. LED lamps need a semiconductor fab to make the LEDs, and use noxious gases like arsine and phosphine, and are inherently higher cost.1 point

Was listening to a songwriting workshop by Yvette Young; Now listening to Al Di Meola home live event. From one great guitarist to another. They both write incredibly beautiful music, but couldn't be more different. https://www.facebook.com/watch/live/?v=608212820562278&ref=notif¬if_id=1631152733388028¬if_t=live_video I am reminded by both that I need to practice more. EDIT: Alas, the Al Di Meola was just the one song.1 point

I love Roon. I don't dig too deep into the possible "improvements", but as a front end for browsing music it's top notch. Makes the whole experience more satisfying for me. I could easily watch locally stored movies on my computer by browsing the file structure and playing them through VLC, too, but I like Plex. I also make my own bed every day and set the table even when I'm eating by myself. These sorts of little things are not to be disregarded.1 point

Yesterday I listened to Super db - Ecoute Ca I found this album due to a recommendation in the weekend newspaper. They said it's some mix of Earth, Wind & Fire, Supertramp, Steely Dan and other late 70's bands. What could go wrong? It's available at most streaming platforms Now just finished ZZ Top - Eliminator It's a pity Odesli isn't including links to Qobuz as well1 point

Here's the tile w/ grout. It's a quite small bathroom. We had to tear out tile that was done in the late 1920's, which was very sad, but the pipes were leaking. We did preserve the plaster crown, but it was otherwise a total gut. And I'd like to say that tiling the ceiling is probably the most difficult thing I have ever done in my life.1 point

Had a re-do of impressions for a dental implant. They did it four times. I guess I’m just a difficult mouth. Probably because I don’t stop fucking talking.0 points
