Found a dealer that offers $9k off a ordered TRX! Will probably lose my $500 deposit but I’ll still be $8500 ahead.5 points

I was getting ready for a bike ride this afternoon and hunting through the dryer for some gloves when I spun the drum by hand and it made a huge bang. Hmmm, that's weird, says I. I find the glove and attempt to restart the dryer and no joy, no spin, no heat, no nothing. So I make the executive decision that this is not going to ruin my ride and inform the family that laundry is off limits for a while. Got in a good ride with two local buds and then got to work. Initial prognosis, the belt is still around the drum so deeper we go... Problem found, the belt had slipped off the idler pulley and then the spring that loads the idler had fallen off so the whole drum had to come out to get at things to perform the relatively straight forward repair. About a half hour later everything was back together and working. Worst part is that the belt is worn so I'll get to do at least half of this again sometime sooner than I'd like but at least it's working again.3 points

Cleaned the MAF sensor on the Beemer yesterday, reset the codes on the computer and have logged 75ish miles without the CEL coming back on so let's hope either that was the actual cause or it was just a random hiccup.3 points

A right channel is finished now. Here is an aerial picture. Output current sources differ between channels. Left, as said in a few posts earlier, has T2 style CCS while right channel only has 01N100D/DN2540 CCS - a “Carbon style” CCS. The boards are ready for both CCS. The boards have same size and tube positions as mini T2. I run this on +400/-460V PSU, same PSU as I use for mini T2.2 points

I don't care what anyone says, I still use winamp on windows when I am not using roon. It still has the best interface for local music as far as I'm concerned.2 points

Here is one of my mini T2. Left channel is changed to this… A Megatron something. Upper EL34 changed to T2 style CCS with 3 x 2SC4686 and 01N100D driving two LEDs. Current 28mA, cathode resistance 1390 ohm (the 500R resistors and a trimmer). The big black capacitors are Mundorf MCap Supreme silver/gold/oil, expensive but they look nice. My kitchen at lunch time.2 points

Definitely. Looks like they are a popular dealer on the TRX forum, seems pretty legit.1 point

That's funny Nate. I was in Boston when they were first playing and I wish I could remember where we saw them. The Paradise? Middle East Cafe? Mark Sandman died way too young, but I see they named a little square for him in front of the Middle East. That's cool1 point

Yeah...if you do anything recalibrating, you have to "crack" the PCM and it's clear to the manufacturer. What I can tell you is the platform is an absolute beast and if you choose a good tuner the odds of fragging the motor are extremely low. A simple pulley swap for more boost will not do it. You have the benefit I do of dual fuel pumps and you should have enough injector headroom on 93 to simply add a bit more. Now...my advice is leave it alone. At least until the warranty is up. That's what I advised my friend to do and fortunately, him being relatively young and a family man, he's left it alone aside from powder coating the deadlock rings (don't ask). I'm in the queue for a GTS. It could be forever w/ things going the way they are but I really want one. Gentian blue... HS1 point

Good info, we will have to link up whenever it comes in. No E85 here only 93. I'll probably stick with things that don't break the warranty or can easily be reversed if I do have to take it in. I would never hear the end of it if I toasted a motor that couldn't be covered. I do really want a 911 Turbo S, maybe some day when my earthworm farm takes off.1 point

Actress Ellen Terry, aged 16 - photographed in 1864 by a wizard of early photography, Julia Margaret Cameron in Freshwater on the Isle of Wight. I've visited the museum in her house and studio. (Apart from Cameron's astonishing work, there is a bronze statue outside of Jimi Hendrix)1 point

A small project I did some time ago. DIY solder station for Weller WMRP soldering pen. Check this http://kair.us/projects/weller/index.html . I ordered ten PCBs, same price as for the one I needed. If you want to try this, ping me and I send you a board for just shipping costs and I pay same amount to Doctors Without Borders. Does it work? Yes, only for fine smd jobs. Have I used it? No, not really. Why build it then? Because you can.1 point

Neat. I still prefer the original because it has Lemmy playing poker with Pinhead.1 point

This one hurts. I'm a huge fan of the band, and two of my best friends IRL are two of the band's biggest fans, and we were just talking about him/them on Thursday, the day before the accident, anticipating a North American tour: https://www.loudersound.com/news/big-big-train-singer-david-longdon-dead-at-560 points

Well… I’ve finished the work with the new headphone and it ended in a disaster. I decided to resolder all solder points, so I took the driver package a part. Even removed the small cable connector. After cleaning all solder points, I connect outer stator and put into its position. It was a bit tricky to arrange the short wire in the connector house. Next was the diaphragm and here I made the disastrous mistake and got a scratch on the membrane when I should solder its wire. I guess I’m getting to old and clumsy for this kind of delicate work. Nowadays I have to wear headband magnifier which also makes it more difficult. Anyhow, I finished the assembly and have one good side and one bad with a small defect on membrane. After visual inspection with good light and magifier I don’t think the lower loudness had anything with dust or any foreign particles to do nor bad connections. So, I really should had waited for this… Thanks a lot, Wachara and Birgir!0 points
