  1. Agreed.....Vinny started out years back doing mods, and he and one other gained fame for their Samsung/Toshiba DVD player mods which did great jobs on getting better sound from them (I still have an old Toshiba that had some of the mods he designed/recommended; it sounded very good for real cheap $). IIRC, I had one brief email exchange with him, and indeed he was gracious and quick to reply to what I'm sure was a pretty stupid question. I also don't begrudge him his success, I just will never pay those kind of prices for the products. I haven't paid too close attention, but I don't think he tries to sell it off with really wild claims, just wild pricing.....
  2. Me 3.....
  3. Very Happy Birthday!
  4. Cool gift! As for MTL, would Patrick Roy even want to come back? He has a tepid history with the team from the end of his tenure there, yes? Cammalleri is definitely off this year, he's been so good in the past. And despite the injuries, the team seems to have a tighter defense; the 1-0 loss to the Bruins the other week was incredible to watch, with the youngsters playing real well against the physical presence of the Bruins. Add to that players like Cole, who is pretty strong on his skates and can score, and the potential is great. Maybe a coaching change will do it, who knows.
  5. Grabbed a near-new Shure SRH-940 off ebay.....enjoy the 840 for what it is, so going to try the older brother.
  6. Very Happy Birthday sir!!!
  7. Happy Birthday Pavel!
  8. Happy Birthday Haj!
  9. Hey, wait a sec......your post with the pics was edited, and now it says 3.5 months instead of what I thought was 4.5 months...... Does it feel like longer already? Well, I guess you're married then! (We won't tell about the slip-up)
  10. There is more beauty in a warm smile and sparkling eyes than all the model runways on earth! Congrats CJ, I hope you've found your match!
  11. They look great, lots of luck! The DAC looks quite interesting too.....
  12. Took my wife to the airport last night, she's off to Germany for a week. Before that, we went to Boston's North End and had a great dinner at one of our favorite Italian places. Also saw Ray Bourque and got a pic with him....nice night, though I had to say goodbye to my wife for the week.....
  13. Happy Birthday!
  14. Happy Birthday!
  15. Indeed, beer selection looked good. Happy belated!
  16. Happy belated from me as well!
  17. Happy Birthday! Haven't seen that name for a while indeed.....
  18. Wife, son and I did a 5k walk today for charity; despite a knee that is acting up, it was a nice time, and registration money goes to charity. Then, nice day spent at my mothers, with two brothers and all families (less two kids away). Now, just resting at home, debating if I want to take a nap at 8pm, or stick it out a bit and go to bed at a semi-normal time. Hope everyone celebrating has/had a good and safe Thanksgiving!
  19. F-ing scary, we're getting there, but funny as heck!
  20. Happy Birthday Two Ewe
  21. Saw a great triple-header last night in Cambridge (TT The Bears): - The Curtain Society - great local group, been around since the late 80's - Black Swan Lane - excellent wall-of-guitar-sound band influenced by the Chameleons, most of them from Manchester where the Chameleons came from - ChameleonsVox - Mark Burgess and John Lever from the Chameleons, plus others All 3 bands were fantastic, with one of the guitarists from Black Swan Lane doing double-duty with ChameleonsVox. The music was loud, tight, and with that impromptu feeling of a good live band (IE, not always 100% true to recoding, but creative and always entertaining). I also had a feel-good moment when I finagled a backstage visit for a woman I met; she had just got out of the hospital after a month-long visit due to bacterial menengitis (and near death). She has been a Chameleons fan for > 20 years but had never seen them or the solo spin-offs; and the look on her face when they performed was awesome. Getting her and her sister backstage was amazing for them and me (I've been lucky enough to meet Mark before, but meeting the others was great as well). All in all, a fantastic night, though I'm paying for it now....even 2 cups of coffee later.
  22. Good luck, Shelly, and definitely let them know they screwed up.....people get very nervous when something is done wrong and medical issues are involved..... I have learned, through my wife and her past issues, that one needs to be a strong self-advocate in all things medical. Hope it works out OK, and nothing bad was done.
  23. That IS nice.....and a built-in tank is indeed good; the pieces connecting the tank to the base are often the first thing to wear (other than the flushing mechanism). It's what led me to replace two toilets, slow leaks of rusty water....yech....... I did like the price and flushing capability of the American Standard, though......both the ones I have work fine for our needs.
  24. Great stuff! I think the 5th time I've watched the video that coems with the review, never tire of it! But you need to be careful now Tyll, you'll probably end up on a Gangsta Shit (Hit?) List.....
