I just finished these, a couple of Stax bias leach cables. I'm fairly confident that one of them will be at CJ... :)

If they have Stax male and Stax male at one end and Stax female at the other, what is the prescribed application? Leach bias from one amp and drive with another? What would be the point?

This is the standard one socket, two plugs affair. It simply separates the bias and drive voltages so that you can use any amp to drive any headphone given that you have some way to access the original bias supply. Let's say you want to drive a normal bias Sigma from a 717 and have a SRD-6 handy or that you want to use the ESP950 off a Stax amp, yet use the Koss bias supply. The one for CanJam is so that the owner of a normal bias Sigma can experience it off the BHSE. :)

All is revealed. Does Justin do a normal bias socket as an option instead of the HE90 one?

Yes, I believe that he does.

I was going to say "more practical, less aspirational" but then we're talking about a pretty expensive amp, I suppose if you can pring for the BHSE, you could spring for an HE90.

Adding a normal bias socket is simply a matter of changing the voltage divider so that's surely an option. There are also a few BHSE's that don't have a He90 jack such as mine.

Better yet, get something that doesn't suck... :P

I don't think the HE90s sound very good from the BHSE so the normal bias Stax jack would be a good idea unless you just want two pro bias Stax jacks, of course. :)

One pro-bias Stax for the Omega 2 and one 4pin XLR for the TakeT?

One pro-bias Stax for the Omega 2 and one 4pin XLR for the TakeT?

Fail.

Two Pro jacks FTW!!! As for the TakeT, just use one of those handy adapter cables or rewire the headphones with some Wide PC-OCC. ;)

The TakeT needs the extra power a lot more than the recable methinks.

There are a few sets of TakeT recabled with the Apuresound V3 cable. I emailed them about it and the reply mentioned that they'd developed an electrostatic cable but wouldn't be going forward with it because of the high cost and low demand.

Did your cable experiments ever come to anything Birgir?

I tried every type of ribbon cable I could get my hands on but most were crap and the liver litz was good but unwieldy. It's just so much easier to cut up a Wide PC-OCC extension cable... :-[

Nice color on the shelves. Can't say what that is on the middle shelf, other than it a) isn't balanced, and B) has an umbilical.

Oh, and the cables look nice as well.

I'm also at a loss as to what's on the middle shelf, but the cables and shelves look fantastic!

Nate, the rack looks awesome; I like the stain. The cables are cool and stealthy.
Thanks Dinny (and others). The cables are the usual drab stuff, nothing really fun in there. But as the stain and tung oil seasons and fully dries I am liking the rack more and more. It's a pity that I only use it for meets. Still for ~$50 and a couple hours of labor it's worth it to have around and I'd highly recommend it.

That little something on the middle shelf looks interesting, too. ;D

I thought you might get a kick out of that and as you'll notice the RCAs are finally installed. Wiring is underway. >:D

I have some cables that look awfully similar. :) Did you put that red nail polish on there so we can't tell what kind of bolts you used. :D

Cool stuff Nate. Is that shelving birch ply? Looks all warm and honey like :)
