R.I.P. Ray Manzarek

Featured Replies

Ray Manzarek, keyboard player of the Doors died today in Germany. Very sad news. Rest in peace.

Wow. I was just looking up the Doors on wackypedia last night and thinking "Damn, the surviving members are getting up there."

EDIT: Grawk is right, check out all the producer credits.

Sad news, indeed.  Ray was the main reason The Doors stayed together for as long as they did.  He seemed to be the only one to have patience enough to deal with Jim during his downward spiral.  LA Woman probably would have never happened were it not to Ray's leadership and persistence.  Then again, Ray was the rock from the beginning and put the group together from day one.  RIP, good man.

RIP, Ray. Definitely the glue holding thr Doors together, and kept relevant as time went by. There's organ playing in heaven tonight.

Bummer!

the Doors were one of the bands I really thought a lot of when I was in high school.

Somewhere in Georgia is (or might still be) a desk with the lyrics to "The End" scratched into it's top.

RIP Ray!

Also a big Doors fan. They helped shape my psyche in my formative days. Morrison was always an idol, though the flaws are easily seen these days. But if the band had not had those haunting keyboards courtesy of Manzarek, they never would have achieved legend status.

RIP Ray. When the music's over, turn out the light.

Break on through to the other side Ray.

I has a sad.  Lubs our Doors box set CDs.  Box design is awesome.
