Got the mStand Rain stand today. It is about 1 inch higher than I would like (it is the perfect height for the hubby's 13" MBP though) but other than that, it is great.

I don't think I would want to try bending it. I'll just have to do the obvious thing and get a 13" MBP. ;)

But where's the DAC hiding???

I decided it was taking up too much space on my desk so it is in the main setup right now. (The Pico DAC is connected to the GS-1).

Wish my desk looked this nice and tidy! BTW, love the speakers.

WTF - I am curious to see how well this works with my music server & DAC.

Amazon currently has these for $119 including shipping.

The newer Mk II model is due out next month.

Dont know yet what improvements it brings to the table.

Initial retail is said to be $189 plus shipping.

so monday on the way home, this guy who i had bought those monster

capacitors from was having another garage sale, and my eyes are keen

on tektronix blue.

So i bought these two pieces. $50 each

As far as i can tell, brand new, never used with all the original

stuff, including probes still in original packaging, original manual and

warranty cards.

I think i did pretty good.

He had a bunch of microwave stuff too, not sure what i would do with all that

stuff except cause trouble.

Nice! Does the 34401A have gpib? I could use a second DMM.... I cannot afford another Keithley though.

Wow, all I ever see in garage sales around here are paintings of Elvis on velvet............................ and I already own five. :)

What? No velvet poker dogs at the last supper?

Velvet Elvis, now you're talkin....

Nice score KG. Wish I had your luck.

What is the problem with causing trouble? evil.gif

yep the voltmeter has gpib. unfortunately i don't have a pci express gpib board.

(i'm not even sure that those things actually exist)

Illegal uplinking to sattelites seems to be frowned upon these days.

And dedicated microwave links seem to require a FCC permit.

I would love a gigabit microwave link between my house and NWU.

(without having to pay for the bandwidth)

Finally got a chance to stop by the Houston Wine Merchant before leaving town and check out the place. They seem to have a nice selection (although you have to ask about most things because they don't have much self space) and carry stuff that I can't find at the big liquor warehouse here. The guy who works there was fun to talk to and seemed pretty knowledgeable. He also said they would be happy to order anything that could be obtained here (in Texas). Picked up a few things too: a limited edition rum, arrack, Indian cask strength peated whiskey, and Germain Robin coast road reserve brandy.

I've never had anything aged in a tin bucket with liquid smoke added to it. 4 years doesn't sound very drinkable though. I can call them up when I get back and beg them to take it back. Maybe they will be nice.

Yeah, the 50ml would be the way to go. I didn't get it cheap unfortunately.

I use a USB to GPIB adapter. NI makes a pci-e version.

Great, I'll be down with $100 to take that junk off your hands and properly dispose of it :)

Nice score!

After hearing this album on a very nice system two weeks ago I decided I must have this. JP knows the John Lee Hooker track very well as I played it for him at Can Jam LAX.

Want.

I just picked up the new iphone, 64g, and loaded it with music. Anyone have an idea for a case that takes the jh13 headphones, or at least one I can easily mod (please remember my skills are about the same as an average 4-year-old's)?
