Fuck in snow

Much to my amazement, shoveling this time around was less tiring and less time consuming than the last big one we had.  It helped the snow clumped together well, which meant it was heavier but I didn't have to shovel the same damn spot 9 times.

  • Same as every gay bar I've ever entered.

  • We lost power for about 12 hours which is nothing, all things considered, and we've got the generator/transfer-switch so it was really only out for 4 hours because I didn't feel like setting it all up

  • Side benefit of all the late snow, the ability to snowshoe with the kids.  Got andrew out for a little walk in the woods this afternoon.

Yup, there's more white BS in the forecast for Tuesday morning here as well.  We're definitely getting melting though as a significant amount of the ground cover disappeared this week so at least we're trending better than you.

So it looks like its going to be snow all day as opposed to changing into rain (thus, melting snow) early in the day as it was initially predicted. At least there should be slightly less ice on the road this afternoon/tonight.

Expecting up to 8 inches here in Montreal. Global warming my ass...

Yeah, we're getting a small bit of daytime melting here too, though it was -23 C this morning.

Here are some musings from John Green:

Okay Americans, how good is the Interstate snow clearing team?  My wife and I are planning a trip to Minneapolis tomorrow, but there is a nasty ice/snow storm happening now.  Info on the storm.

I believe the precipitation is supposed to be over by tonight.

What do you think?  Will the interstate be safe by tomorrow?

Minnesota doesn't slow down for snow or ice. The road will be clear and you'll be fine.

Thanks - that's what I figured.  In Manitoba the snowplows get to work pretty quickly, but salting the ice away can take awhile.  You guys tend to be a lot more serious about your road maintenance south of the border.

^Wow, fuck that!

It's going to be over 80 in SF, which is sweltering for us.

Well, I will be in Chicago/IN next Thursday so please have your weather guys get their act together and warm things up a bit for me.  Forecast is for low to mid 90s through this weekend.

It's perfect here today -- we only get a few of these each year. I'm quitting early to go play tennis. It looks like typical Chicago spring weather for the next week or so.
