I'm super pleased with the WD green drives. I was a little apprehensive, but they've proven to be at least as good as my seagates, and are even quieter and much cooler. I would be so daring as to call these the perfect drives for the Drobo.
June 3, 200917 yr my wd green has been fine. only a couple months ownership and very little writing though (filled it once and pretty much left it).

June 8, 200917 yr A six pack of solid-state drives compared - The Tech Report - Page 1 Although it's mostly a MLC review, they also include the X25-E results for comparison. The X25-E 32gb is tempting in a raw-speed sort of way, but I don't think I could handle the size limitation as my current OS partition is using up 25.8gigs, so that X25-M looks tempting.
June 8, 200917 yr The X25-E most likely Yeah, this is the slightly more expensive intel ssd There is talk about SSDs falling in price soon, for various reasons. I know there is a new controller board in the works that is supposed to streamline costs, but it is from the same company that had a flawed board to begin with, which caused stuttering issues. I forget the exact name, something like J micron or some such. These intel cards don't use that company, which I suppose accounts for the lavish costs. I'm still tempted to wait for the next generation of intel ssds, since this is their first batch ever, and the tech will only get better.
