  • Turns out the damage was a bit more severe than a bad cable. They could still be repaired for less than the cost of a new pair, but not enough less that it seemed worth it. So new Etys are on the way.

  • That's because you're supposed to put them in your ears!

  • So the LCD3 Zebrawood showed back up tonight and I think I just bought a pair. Rob, you get the LCD5 and we'll compare and see if they're worth it, kay?

Today participating Rat Shacks are selling 4 packs of their premium "digital" AA an AAA batteries for $1 each. If you have a Rat Shack credit card, you get an additional 15% off.

This seems like the right thread to ask so...

Can you pop an already formatted drive (used internally) into a BlacX and use it like you would if it were connected internally?

Slappa Newsletter deal on BulkHead 2:1 Laptop Trolley Bag for $39 instead of $119:

The BulkHead PRO is a 2 in 1 laptop trolley bag, meaning it is 1 bag that can easily be separated to 2 very spacious bags. With a total of 3 storage areas, there is plenty of room for a laptop (up to 17") and DJ gear (Serato, small mixer, headphones, cords). Each compartment features foam padding, shoulder strap clips and industrial strength zippers. The bag is made from SLAPPA's pro-grade BuckBlast suede which is rainproof, puncture proof and extremely durable.

Additional features include a telescopic trolley, 2 SLAPPA combination locks, a removable phone/MP3 case with stainless steel belt clip and a 3D molded rubber luggage I.D. tag.

And don't forget the free gadget bag with each purchase!

You could get 4 of these to go along with your new Drobo:

WD Caviar GP 1TB SATA 3Gbps HDD - dealmac.com

That's a 4TB Drobo (well, less when you factor in the redundancy...etc.) for less than $700.

I'm super pleased with the WD green drives. I was a little apprehensive, but they've proven to be at least as good as my seagates, and are even quieter and much cooler. :)

I would be so daring as to call these the perfect drives for the Drobo.

my wd green has been fine. only a couple months ownership and very little writing though (filled it once and pretty much left it).

It's what Data Robotics bundles with their deals.

Data Robotics, Inc. Online Store - Drobo 2nd Generation 4TB Bundle with (4) 1TB Western Digital WD10EADS Hard Drives

That's very tempting, but the California tax is killer! Guess I might just ship it to my apo address and stick out for the wait. Thanks for posting that :)

The X25-E most likely

Yeah, this is the slightly more expensive intel ssd :D

There is talk about SSDs falling in price soon, for various reasons. I know there is a new controller board in the works that is supposed to streamline costs, but it is from the same company that had a flawed board to begin with, which caused stuttering issues. I forget the exact name, something like J micron or some such.

These intel cards don't use that company, which I suppose accounts for the lavish costs.

I'm still tempted to wait for the next generation of intel ssds, since this is their first batch ever, and the tech will only get better.
