November 19, 201015 yr But you can buy an Mk2 arc That would likely look worse, as you'd still have the black cable...
November 19, 201015 yr So beside colour what's the difference between mk1 and mk2 pads? I've read here they're apparently deeper, and not as hot.

November 19, 201015 yr Thanks. I used your hint to search the HF stax thread again and found some more details/discussion from page 610 to 615... I think I should try some mk2 pads.
November 19, 201015 yr That's funny I think this sounds right: Brown mk1 Pads = real leather Black mk2 Pads = some leather some pleather I've heard arguments for both sounding better. I don't know which to go for still heh.
November 19, 201015 yr Mother of god not this leather, not leather shit again I hope for your sake Nate doesn't see this
November 20, 201015 yr Dear Stax Mafioso, I'm just looking for your opinions. Recently there is a growing consensus in my local circle that the Stax, particularly the Omega2 MK2, doesn't image as well as the top dynamic headphones such as the T1 or HD800. I would have tested this personally but during my time of auditioning the O2 MK1 and MK2, I didn't have those two cans handy for a direct comparison. So, what do you Stax seniors think? Is it by chance, could be related how the diaphragms are constructed and positioned? I meant to respond earlier. Those silly dynamics have no place in this thread.
November 24, 201015 yr My O2s have sat unused in their case for almost five months. Got them out today and after just a scant few notes I felt obliged to bang my head on the desk a few times for being such a silly bunt.
November 24, 201015 yr Woohoo! My custom tips for the 001s are finally in. My appointment for final fitting is Monday morning at 10:30am. I'm hoping they don't need a remold or too much adjustment so I can bring them home at that time. Starkey did struggle with them, so I'm not sure how much they will cost moving forward or how many times they had to mold this set. I'll let you guys know...
November 25, 201015 yr If memory serves me right, I recall reading that the O2 MK1's had fragile drivers that tend to fail easily... which was then remedied by the not-as-good-sounding MK2? Reason I ask is I'm tempted by this FS: Stax Omega II mk1 - Head-Fi.org Community
November 25, 201015 yr Many here prefer the Mk1 by a wide margin, so as long as it works, and you're tempted, dew et.

Reason I ask is I'm tempted by this FS: Stax Omega II mk1 - Head-Fi.org Community I could be wrong but I thought the earspeakers with the higher failure rate were the original SR-Omegas from 1993-95.
November 25, 201015 yr I could be wrong but I thought the earspeakers with the higher failure rate were the original SR-Omegas from 1993-95. I thought you had the higher failure rate lolololollol1

Reason I ask is I'm tempted by this FS: Stax Omega II mk1 - Head-Fi.org Community Nothing even remotely true about that. Drivers in the Mk1 and Mk2 are pretty much identical. The SR-Omega drivers can indeed fail but I'm 95% sure that is is due to the chassis and not the drivers.
November 25, 201015 yr Well crap. Presumably in retaliation for being ignored for so long, my O2s have developed a faint, continuous squeal in the left driver. Sounds like air leaking out of a tire. Deliberately "farting" the ear cup will stop it for a few seconds before it comes back. Dust, I assume?
November 25, 201015 yr It's probably due to you being in the Southern Hemisphere. The Coriolis Force is backwards.
November 25, 201015 yr That sucks, Stretch. Hope it can be resolved easily. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
November 25, 201015 yr Staxolences stretch, the first time I have heard this happening with any SR-007
November 25, 201015 yr Hell hath no fury like a Stax scorned! Truly sucks Stretch, but I hope she gets back rights soon.
November 26, 201015 yr Nice Is it mainly for comfort or does it improve the sound as well, and do they now isolate like traditional IEMs?
