April 23, 201511 yr Damage like that could be due to shipping. I`ve had one my old T1S amp tubes shattered and top cover completely knocked in because some post guy took a kick into it. Only got a partial refund from JapanPost though.
April 23, 201511 yr I would just get the money back. I hope the seller is willing to cooperate and did insure for the full amount.
April 23, 201511 yr seller will take it back...we'll discuss the details. unfortunately (for him), it was packaged very well and there was no damage to the box so i don't think there was any damage from shipping.
April 24, 201511 yr Use thick pieces of expanded polystyrene like what's in the Stax original packaging. Never had a problem with those.
April 24, 201511 yr That and double box. Always double box... Yup. I always pack really well. I shipped the Sony SCD-1 to Germany before without a problem and I didn't even have the original box. The weight of the shipping was 75-80 lbs.
April 24, 201511 yr yeah I'm going to take the extra precaution to double-box, and I lined it with foam that I've been collecting from purchasing all these these aluminum chassis. Thanks for the tips, I think this is the first time I've shipped out my own diy work. Now I'm left ampless at the office, need to finish casing the Megatron. Edcor really takes their sweet time with their transformers.
April 24, 201511 yr Congrats on your sale. The new owner will be happy for a long time. Double-box is a must and don't forget to insure against shipping damage. You should also take couple of pictures demonstrating how well the amp is packed too. Edited April 24, 201511 yr by purk
April 26, 201511 yr 70 dollars for peace of mind I also picked up an HE60, do I have to increase the bias resistance to use these with stax amplifiers?
April 26, 201511 yr Is the hev70 receptacle a standard part? I'm thinking about grabbing one of those and cutting one of my leftover stax cables for the male plug. Morgan Jones lists some part numbers in his "daughter of beast" schematic but they haven't yielded anything useful.
April 27, 201511 yr The socket is a part of the chassis so not a separate thing. There is this though... http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a230r.1.14.37.JGGGcS&id=43478963769&ns=1&abbucket=2#detail

April 27, 201511 yr well it might be ok if the water is 10**14 ohms... otherwise bad. do remember that someone dumped water on my T2 at CJ010 and it still lives 5 years later. Edited April 27, 201511 yr by kevin gilmore

I wonder if that's actually a section of stax cable in the provided shot
April 27, 201511 yr seems like in the world of Lambdas, the only recommended ones are the LNS (discontinued), the SR Lambda nb (discontinued), the 404LE (discontinued), or one of the entry level pro cans (20#). Don't see a lot of love for the higher end lambdas. I also thought the signature was a bit better thought of, but comments on the etch seem to point elsewhere.
April 27, 201511 yr I didn't have any "etched" Stax until now : SR-5, SR-5/NB, SR-X/mk3, Sigma Pro, Gamma Pro, SR-007 mk1, Lambda NB and SR-009. The two latter the "brighter", but still very smooth with beautiful midrange. FR response of Lambda Signature sounds very different to me, with something glaring in the high mids my other cans don't have. It's no that unpleasant, but it sounds a bit artificial. I'm waiting for my BHSE to make a definitive statement on my several phones...Spritzer did say one time the glaring side of Lambda Sig does largely benefit from power / authority of some BH amp. The ad is for a "KG T2 chassis kit" that includes the chassis, internal accessories and the water cooling mechanism (including the water pump and it's own power supply). The ad says the water cooling mechanism is "highly reliable". I think the $15000 price is in Chinese Yuan which is roughly $2500 USD based on 6.22 exchange rate. The kit is made to order. It takes a mighty brave soul to try this thing out. Edit: It says discount is offered for large quantity order. Should we start a GB? Edited April 28, 201511 yr by mwl168
